Guards generally rule in tournament play and Purdue’s guards are not good.  If you take Edey off that team, they’re probably playing in the NIT.

And then not getting Edey more shots is more evidence that Painter is a vastly overrated in-game coach.

I don't necessarily disagree but plenty of games in these tournament's (year in and year out) are stinkers because of college bball rules or certain teams having "off nights" against lesser competition; amongst other variables. Does that truly make for a better product?

A week ago, I said Purdue was the perfect #1 seed to get picked off by a #16....I really scratch my head on how people struggle with the following statement...the B10 has been down lately and the 22/23 season in particular was one of the more down years that I can recall. If you ask me honestly, this year's Michigan squad had more individual talent than just about everyone else in the league but we managed 17 wins because we failed to take care of the little things. The only B10 squad I have going to the Sweet 16 is Indiana because they have two players who can individually make shots in Hood-Schifino and Jackson-Davis. This was the main issue with the league - not enough individual shot-makers.

The fact that Beilein took us to two NC games is an accomplishment that we should never have allowed to walk.

Living here in Indiana, I have a lot of Purdue friends. They are devastated beyond words. If you put yourself in that position, under Beilein, how would that feel? Because Painter is regarded like Coach B. So they cannot explain the game plan, like us. I have no ill will for them. If MSU were in that position, I would be happy, But here, even IU fans are taking pity for them. Probably since they beat them twice this year. Bad for the Big 10. In all ways. Take no joy in this.

Thoughts and prayers for your Purdon't friends, but this in fact did not happen to Beilein's teams because Beilein is a far better coach than Painter. Beilein took his teams to Elite 8s, Finals 4s, and championships on the regular. Painter has an alarming penchant for losing in the 1st round and has gotten as far as the Elite 8 a grand total of once. Tell your Boiler peeps they're embarrassing themselves by comparing Beilein to him.

5/8 teams advanced.  Maybe 3, 4, 5 make the Sweet16. Maybe not.  Maybe 1, 2, 3 in the Elite8.  Maybe not.  Hell maybe "we" get a Final4 team in.

But what are you typing about right now.  Come back next weekend and make your claim.  College basketball as a whole is a shitshow.

I don't want this to be a referendum on Juwan, and this isn't worth a thread by any means.

But, if Juwan resigned, went to a pro team--for whatever reason was gone tomorrow and Painter were available would you want him?

I think the answer is still yes.

Looking at it now, it reminds me of Michigan vs OSU in 2018. The week before Indiana exposed crossing routes would kill Michigan, so OSU ran crossing routes with no resistance. Last week Penn State exposed pressing Purdue’s guards throws off their entire offense. It also did not help that none of the guards on Purdue could stay in front of their man. Purdue is an average team with a freak at center. FDU exploited him by having a big guy #11 who was a threat to shoot which forced him to defend all the way to the three point line opening up driving lanes, back cuts and getting open three point looks.

People say the SEC means more? Nobody in the big ten is sad to see Purdue lose! Sec fans say well so and so won we’re good, we say fuck em! Big ten sucks and screws us, big ten is the most heated and meaningful conference

Purdue, Purdon't, Purdidn't. It should be not that big of a bracket buster. I had them making it through the round of 32 and then losing, as in not reaching the sweet 16.

That team was mediocre the last 10 regular season games. They played even worse than Michigan, at times by losing games in the final few minutes with numerous turnovers. Yes, it was very frustrating for us Michigan fans seeing our team not able to close out games, but Purdue fans have to be screaming in the streets about how their team has played.

Even though they were a 15 seed, this brings back fond memories of Middle Tennessee State. I can still remember MSU-fan coworkers swearing and storming out of the office that Friday afternoon in 2016. “Oh, what happened? Are you leaving for the day? Have a nice weekend!” Fond memories, indeed.

A lot of people on this thread talking about how bad the B1G is... true, Purdue losing to a 16 seed is a big stain for the B1G, but the B1G has actually performed decently well so far in the tourney: 5-3 record, including Penn St destroying 7 seed Texas A&M. They're doing better than I thought they would overall.
