I might be biased, but Universities are not making as much money, with most actually losing money. My institution has several strong programs and makes a reasonable amount from TV and attendance. Our AD revenue has doubled in the last several years. Yet, no money is returned to the general account, and in some years, the University has to provide a "loan" to the AD. So, where is the money going?
Had to build a very expensive training center and hire new people, travel costs are huge, salaries are up, etc. While we have not added any new sports, and our revenue has doubled, the AD barely breaks even. So, many schools have good reasons to resist sharing sports revenues with players. As college sports have become more important, the costs of running an AD have increased substantially. Most of these new expenses indirectly benefit students -- better nutrition, facilities, coaching, travel, lodging etc. For most college ADs, college sport is a rat race. Have to spend more just to keep their heads above water.
JeepinBen, some national brands may stick with a player like Clark after she turns pro. But I do not think local businesses and especially alumni will pay her anymore. A player like Laila will appeal more to local businesses and alumni than national brands. Do you think any national brand will sponsor Laila? Clark is an exception. Many WBB players get a "second job" during the off-season to support their life-style.
We can be the 2016 version of OSU with Cardale Jones as QB. They had more talent on offense but probably less talent on defense. Cardale was a less-than-average passer but had a much better WR group than we do. Is Orji a better passer than Cardale or Denard? Probably not as good as Cardale, but as good as Denard.
I think there is an advantage to not being a high-level BB player in the previous life. You could tell that Dusty is a student of the game and a BB junkie. This should make him a better teacher. I was very impressed with his presentation. He came across as a likable person with a nice sense of humor.
We are set for the next 15-20 years if this works out.
That was an awful first half for Mr. Medved. Let's see how he adjusts for the second half. CSU looks tiered and will lose this game, but let's see if the players stay with the plan or start shooting 3s from the half-court line.

What has taken place in private seems very consistent with what we have seen from Howard in the public. Someone who treats his son in front of everyone as described in the article should not be a head coach at UM.

The problem is that RBs have a short shelf life and cannot count on the 2nd and 3rd contracts where the real money is made.
He is ranked somewhere around 4-6 best RBs. If we go by previous drafts, on average, 7 RB are picked by the end of 3rd round. So, the most likely spot for him would be the middle or the end of 3rd round.
Is it safe to assume that the scheme could be in trouble if the defense faces a mobile QB? Perhaps that is why Wink's defenses have not been as successful in recent years -- there are more mobile QBs in the NFL. How many mobile QBs are we going to face this year?
Current players and recruits can choose not to sign or leave. I am not saying that JH should be kept at all costs. But having a relationship with those teams has some value.
I can see Warde making a move if some elite coach expresses interest (through agents). Either way, it will be a tough call.
JH has one year on his contract. I would assume that JH would walk away once his contract expires and his son graduates. Warde will not fire him with one year left on his contract so as not to destroy the program's relationship with the FAB5 group.

NIL is more important for WBBs. Even if they make it to WNBA, the pay may not exceed what some players can make from NIL.
