Kyle McCord enters transfer portal
December 4th, 2023 at 12:47 PM ^
A PI firm should investigate this.

Dante Moore?
December 4th, 2023 at 7:58 AM ^
I assume Dante Moore or Cameron Ward. Moore said he is looking for a school that develops quarterbacks and protects the quarterback. Hate to say it, but OSU checks those boxes. they also bring in the top WR recruits every year and can pay for transfers.
December 4th, 2023 at 8:35 AM ^
Ward makes much more sense than Moore. I do expect that Ohio State will bring in an experienced AND accomplished transfer portal QB. Moore struggled this year, and I can't see Day, at this point, hitching his wagon to someone based only on potential.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:00 AM ^
Very true. Justin Fields was an established QB at Georgia and wasn't just taken on the basis of talent. In two years with the Dawgs he had almost 500 passing yards. So, yea, Day wouldn't do that.
December 4th, 2023 at 11:55 AM ^
Let's all hope it's not Ward.
I watched most of the Apple Cup and he was creating tons of headaches for Washington all by himself.
December 4th, 2023 at 8:04 AM ^
Why would he leave when he is the presumed starter in a better team next year?
December 4th, 2023 at 8:47 AM ^
Probably because he got word that they're going to be bringing someone else in to compete for the position.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:34 AM ^
They won’t be better next year. They lose a ton
December 4th, 2023 at 10:25 AM ^
The best thing about Columbus, OH, is Jeni's ice cream. Seriously, seriously good stuff. Since Kyle committed, Jeni's has gone national, and you can now buy the stuff in most states.
December 4th, 2023 at 7:11 AM ^
Obvious tampering by OSU. But....randos with iPhones is THE BIGGEST SCANDAL EVER!!!!!
December 4th, 2023 at 7:32 AM ^
I've been saying this to many on X who comment Cheaters about Michigan- "So you're ok with 10 Teams, to include Ohio State Tampering with WSU's QB by offering 1+Million in NIL before he entered the Transfer Portal"
Never a reply back...
December 4th, 2023 at 7:12 AM ^
Per Ruhle, a portal qb costs a million or two. Heaven forbid you buy one a cheeseburger though.
December 4th, 2023 at 8:04 AM ^
Pretty sure coaches are allowed to buy them a cheeseburger as long as they don't advocate for them to share in the TV dollars.
December 9th, 2023 at 9:58 AM ^
It's interesting to see Matt Rhule mentioned in this Kyle McCord thread.
Seems to be some smoke coming from Lincoln. Consider:
- Better QB play would've likely resulted in the Huskers winning one to three more games this past season;
- Nebraska has been active reaching out to QB prospects in the portal.
- Matt Rhule coached at Temple from 2006-11 and was its head coach from 2013-16.
- Kyle McCord played at St. Joe's Prep in Philly and is from Downington, PA.
- The Huskers will play in Columbus next season (e.g., revenge tour)
I suppose it comes down to whatever school offers McCord the best NIL deal.
December 4th, 2023 at 7:19 AM ^
“Lined up” = bought
December 4th, 2023 at 11:42 AM ^
Who says they're ok with this? What say do they have? Dude went 11-1 and wasn't particularly bad in the one loss. One real mistake, the Johnson pick, and he is absolutely eviscerated by the fans.
Why would you stay after that?
December 4th, 2023 at 6:48 AM ^
You came close to answering your own question there. (Also, I see now that WeimyWoodson made my response redundant.) The correct answer is maybe just another question:
What's the next domino to fall here? Dante Moore? Did Dylan Raiola have a "change of heart" due to some unexpected development$? (I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot going on behind the scenes here.)
December 4th, 2023 at 7:13 AM ^
Maybe, but those are all unproven guys at this point. I’d still want my starter on the roster. Arch Manning’s recruiting profile is all SEC, a few other southern school and then ND. It would be like OSU to get a great QB out of the portal, but I’m sure LSU/ND/USC/Clemson etc could offer a similar NIL package.
December 4th, 2023 at 7:16 AM ^
Completely agree.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:01 AM ^
Arch Manning = 99% name at this point.
December 4th, 2023 at 10:24 AM ^
Yea, he's literally attempted two passes this year. I get he's a great prospect, and no one knows what practice looks like, but he's 100% unproven at this point.
December 4th, 2023 at 7:13 AM ^
Delete - double post.
December 4th, 2023 at 7:09 AM ^
And he played well down the stretch. He ended up with the #8 QBR.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:13 AM ^
Or he's gunning for more NIL to stay there.
December 4th, 2023 at 10:46 AM ^
We don't know that OSU does not have someone lined up - tampering galore. Guys go into portal and crystal ballz hit within minutes.
December 4th, 2023 at 6:47 AM ^
Maybe Day has told him Nolan will be the starter game one next year, regardless of performance?
December 4th, 2023 at 7:30 AM ^
That would be pretty insane. Day cannot really afford a year of "growing pains" by building for the future. Lose a couple games next year, particularly to Michigan, and he's out.
December 4th, 2023 at 8:03 AM ^
With their schedule next year, they can afford it, at Oregon, at Penn St. and vs Michigan every other game is a show up and win game.
December 4th, 2023 at 6:48 AM ^
They must be poaching some other QB
December 4th, 2023 at 6:56 AM ^
Cam Ward from Washington St.
December 4th, 2023 at 8:00 AM ^
Cam Ward transferred from Incarnate Word to Washington St in 2022 and is classified as a junior. Unless he is a graduate transfer, he would have to sit out 2024.
December 4th, 2023 at 8:52 AM ^
Incarnate Word is FCS, so the transfer from it to WSU doesn't count as the one free transfer within FBS (insofar as I am reading the rules correctly).
December 4th, 2023 at 8:34 AM ^
They going to outbid Oregon? My guess for OSU is Malik Murphy from Texas.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:34 AM ^
Arch Manning?
December 4th, 2023 at 9:46 AM ^
Now that he's in the portal, Dillon Gabriel from Oklahoma unfortunately makes too much sense. Going rate will probably be eight figures and we know OSU can pay that.
December 4th, 2023 at 6:48 AM ^
If JJ leaves, we should take him because it would be too funny to beat them with their own quarterback
December 4th, 2023 at 7:36 AM ^
The NIL for "If you can't beat them, join them" ads should be immense.
December 4th, 2023 at 8:05 AM ^
He could even get Greg Mattison to be his co-star in an American Revolution-themed commercial around the Fourth of July while they both wear Benedict Arnold costumes.
December 4th, 2023 at 10:19 AM ^
Player to be named later in trade for Justin Boren & Greg Mattison.
December 4th, 2023 at 7:51 AM ^
Plus he's a pretty good qb as a 1st year starter, guy played lights out against us except for a few throws
December 4th, 2023 at 8:49 AM ^
Especially the throws when he was being hit!
December 4th, 2023 at 8:52 AM ^
What are the chances he transfers and wins a Heisman trophy, we've seen that before too lol
December 4th, 2023 at 8:22 AM ^
That would motivate him. The game wouldn't just be another game next time.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:02 AM ^
I don't want QB's who can't move.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:30 AM ^
We should take him because he's a good quarterback. His floor is better than any other current QB, and his ceiling is massive.
December 4th, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
Ceiling is "massive"? C'mon - He has one year of eligibility left, and I think basically what you see is what you get.
But agree that he will be a good transfer for somebody.
December 4th, 2023 at 10:17 AM ^
Yeah, you are right, his ceiling isn't massive. After all with OSU having so much better of a run game than ours he was just good, not great.
Sarcasm obviously. How many defenses are going to play light in the box against Michigan next year?
And if he's just a 1 year guy, even better. I thought he had 2 to play.
December 4th, 2023 at 10:52 AM ^
Its really not a bad idea. Gives you a bridge year to get Davis, Orji, Denegal ready. Instead of taking a guy like Moore with 3 years left and potentially running off Davis.
December 4th, 2023 at 11:10 AM ^
Raise your hand if you want your QB to be the only one on the team who knows how to lose this rivalry.
