JIM HARBAUGH APPRECIATION THREAD

Submitted by SergeantBlue on October 27th, 2023 at 8:56 AM

We have arguably the best coach in all of football, not just college!  Our program is at an incredible high, the culture is amazing and we have a great record of winning at the highest levels and with great academic success rates.  We've done all this with arguably one hand tied behind our coach's back, which is something nobody in the administration ever seems to recognize.  When the dust settles here, people need to realize this is absolutely nothing and higher-ups (regents, admin, etc.) need to understand what the fan base and university want is for Harbaugh to be our coach for as long as possible.  Nobody that is an alum at this university cares about egos at the higher ups or this ridiculous witch hunt.  Rest assured, if he leaves, funding to both the university and athletic department will fall hard and fast.

GIVE THIS MAN HIS CONTRACT AND DO IT NOW.  He is a GREAT coach!  Not re-signing him to a lengthy extension might very well have been the goal of this ridiculous smear campaign that seems to have been started by our rival.  So scream it from the rooftops! Tweet it out, make sure Warde, Ono and the regents all see this!  If you appreciate Harbaugh and want him back, let it be known!  MAKE THIS POST THE MOST LIKED IN MGoBlog HISTORY. (Mods, I don't want any of the points.  That's not what this is about).

There is no pearl clutching you cuck. You cant ignore facts. Screaming witch hunt about something you don't want doesn't make it less true. See 2020 election. JH is a great coach, he has had some rough seasons with Michigan and some great season with us.  I actually want him to stick around and for the AD and President to come out in support of him. I'm just not stupid enough to think there is no fire amongst the smoke.

Jim is too good of a guy to take everyone down with him. However, I can only imagine he has all the dirt he needs on OSU etc. Its just the dirty backroom deals of recruiting that no one wants to talk about. However, it would be awesome if Harbaugh aired all the laundry if he leaves for the NFL, which at this point I believe is likely due to lack of open support from the admin.

The timing of this BS story being made public certainly suggests that it was leaked to torpedo Harbaugh's new contract.  I hope the school and everyone else recognizes that and gets the deal done as soon as possible.

Jim Harbaugh is the best man, the only man, to lead Michigan football into the 2030's.

I hope Michigan does offer Jim a big contract. I fear our University may not and JH will be headed to the NFL. I hope he wins the national championship this season.

Jim Harbaugh is the best coach this university has had in my lifetime. He has such a high standard for himself, his program, and his student athletes that the best his detractors can dig up against him is two cheeseburgers and breaking a rule most fans didn't know existed.

There is a reason why Spartan and Buckeye fans are praying he leaves for the NFL. My hope is we give him 12 million reasons to stay.

Thank you Coach Harbaugh

I’m curious if anybody knows what was the most liked post in the history of MGoBlog? Does Seth keep a record of these things?

If you go to the top of the webpage, above MGOBLOG, and hover over "Useful Stuff," one of the entries is the "User-Curated HOF." While sadly, it looks like it hasn't been curated in quite some time, there are a number of old threads and comments that have received high numbers of +1s.

If anyone is looking to fill bye-week time with user-curation...

Emails are fine, but the only thing that will really get their attention is money. What you have to hope for is that enough donors, especially high-profile donors, have made a call to the Athletic Department and given a not-so-subtle understanding to Warde that if Harbaugh's new deal doesn't get done and he walks for the NFL, that Warde can kiss their annual donation good-bye.

And I seriously doubt that Warde or Ono are personally checking their email. At least not their public email addresses. They have at least one executive assistant, likely more, who handles all of that for them.

I agree and also have a slightly different take.

  • You are right regarding "I'm angry" emails. In a vacuum...does one or some do much? Probably not.
  • I actually agree with your overarching point
  • We are not insanely major donors but myself and (much more importantly) a prominent family member of mine who was a part of the football org under Bo and for over 15 years sent an email (including Ono's personal email). We aren't special. There are lots of people that are mid level donors or have direct connection with the school and program that matter. You starts to have hundreds or those of those people send messages and it does matter.
  • Money matters...you nailed it. I'm hoping many people who donate are stepping in. From your rank and file fan up to the big donors.

From personal experience, I've had a couple times our CEO (of a $2b company) reached out to me due to a single patient email related to dissatisfaction of the medical device they received. It wasn't a major issue just a general complaint and he wanted to touch base with me on it. My point is, the grass roots groundswell of support does matter, more than people think but your point 100% stands. You need money people to get involved and then just a mass amount of "rank in file" people to be loud.

Just my friendly 2 cents

I have watched Michigan football for 40 years.  The first game I ever attended was in 1984 when Jim was quarterback.  Never in all my years of fandom have I been more satisfied with Michigan's head coach than I have been with Harbaugh.  This man needs to get paid and if that does not happen and he walks, Warde needs to be fired immediately.

I hope he stays for another 10 years! Fuck Warde! And any fuckin UM elite that wants to side with Warde and see Jim out of here…Fuck you too! Don’t be stupid and arrogant. Jim is the best coach and LEADER Michigan will ever have!

Would love for Michigan to schedule a press conference.

Starting out with….

”Due to these gross accusations against our great university. and in light of the recent investigations. We have decide to……EXTENTED JIM HARBAUGHS CONTRACT!! and PAY THAT MAN HIS MONEY! Followed by Jim Harbaugh taking the podium and saying….”I F—kin LEAVIN!!” wolf of wall street style.

As a lifelong fan and double alumnus, we need to support Jim and fire Warde.  If we want to compete against the SEC, then we have to stand up to the NCAA like the SEC.  Academic standards are for regular students, not professional athletes.  You don't make music students take engineering classes.  You don't require art students to get high SAT math scores.  Treat football players and the football program appropriately so that they can compete at the highest level.

Tell the OSU PR team to get bent.  Tell Stapleton to fuck off.  Get some hamburgers and shove them up the NCAA's ass.

Yes!!!

He’s weird.  He’s odd. He’s quirky. And he’s ours.  The positive impact he has made on the university far far outweighs any of the bullshit fabricated narratives.  Haters have run out of negative things to say and are now grasping at straws.  We are truly back!  Please give this man his money and make him stay for the long term!

I absolutely love Harbaugh. He signed my program in 1986 at the spring game. also, see my avatar

he dragged this program from irrelevance to the point where opposing teams are so fucking scared of us they’re hiring private investigators to try to rattle us and make it so Harbaugh either leaves or gets fired, or at least discredit the bludgeoning they have, and still will, receive

fuck em all. Michigan v Errrbody

Harbaugh is smart, he cares about his players, both helping them develop as players and as persons, he has hired good assistants, he seems to have impeccable character . . .and yet some people always seem intent on undermining him because what?  He is quirky?  They wanted someone else to coach?  They want Michigan to hire a RichRod clone and stink again?  It is so fucked up.
