Friday Night BBQ, Beverage and Rooting for Missouri Thread

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on December 29th, 2023 at 6:22 PM

Mates,
Friday night of a holiday weekend.   It's also the time when bowl games start to count, and one of the first is our friends down at TCDS (Those Cheaters Down South) take on the Missouri Tigers at 8:00 on ESPN.  Please, Tigers, wear that block-M with ferocity and whip those hairless nuts.

Also, what is on your BBQ, in your cup, and on tap for the weekend?  What are the New Year's Eve plans?

Happy New Year everybody,

XM

Mizzou is just going to fire downhill on standard downs until OSU punishes them downfield for not doing so. Henderson is the only guy that looks like he can hurt the defense right now, but numbers can clamp him down. Things could change but this has all the makings of a veeeery low-scoring grind.

As far as I've seen, Day has never put together a diverse running game to counteract this issue. He has that nice beef formation that he got a couple of long runs with, but if he doesn't have other stuff to work with those packages, it won't work long-term.

Soft is a choice.

Brown gets crushed. And looking at the pattern, it appears to be a triangle concept of a sort. The first read was the out, and it was sort of covered, but I think Brown could have thrown it. Didn't have time for anything else to develop.

He's not making fast reads. He's hurt. They're using Henderson in the wildcat out of desperation. This looks reeeeaaaally ugly for offensive genius Ryan Day.

This is why that thread where everyone said our offense was mediocre was laughable earlier.  OSU's defense is entirely legit and they are laying it on Mizzou.  If their offense keeps mucking it up they'll probably break, though.

Side note: is their returner an idiot?  calling for the fair catch inside the 10 repeatedly

I know they just had Fields and Stroud, and that McCord had a pulse at least before transferring out.  HOWEVER, with how anOSU has recruited for about 10 years now, I find it truly bizarre that they're down to a decidedly meh and decidedly injured Devin Brown vs a TrFr they don't seem to even want on the field.  Hate to see it.

Kienholz isn't even a future star. He's the 13th overall *dual-threat* QB.

He's a depth guy. Playing as a true freshman.

Time to draw up some new option plays. And the pistol looks suggest that's what's coming.

Nearly identical uniforms, nonexistent offenses and drooling boredom… I had no idea that the Iowa-Nebraska Reenactment Club had this much pull.

The Urban Meyer magic is no longer at Ohio- just plug a freshman qb in for the injured qb and not lose a beat. Ryan Day Is proving he was put on 3rd base without hitting a triple. His recruiting is lacking at Ohio. I don’t see much future with him as head coach.

"We have as many punts as we have first downs, 7. This is a goood kick, though."

Welcome back to the Big Ten Mean, OSU!

I'll be honest, I was planning on doing something else this evening. And I still might. But this is absolutely fantastic viewing right now, I can't look away.

Monday, yes. Especially given that he was a bit dinged, I was fine with how he was used against OSU.

Every one of these shoestring tackles is a potential turned ankle, and we are seeing in real time what happens when a QB has one of those, too.

Monday you probably have to take the risk. But it is still a risk.
