Friday Night BBQ, Beverage and Rooting for Missouri Thread
Mates,
Friday night of a holiday weekend. It's also the time when bowl games start to count, and one of the first is our friends down at TCDS (Those Cheaters Down South) take on the Missouri Tigers at 8:00 on ESPN. Please, Tigers, wear that block-M with ferocity and whip those hairless nuts.
Also, what is on your BBQ, in your cup, and on tap for the weekend? What are the New Year's Eve plans?
Happy New Year everybody,
XM

Foreboding for Monday on that qb run, I hope. M on the helmet and flames in the feet.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:49 PM ^
I give credit to all the OSU guys who didn’t opt out.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:49 PM ^
They should've kept McCord.

I think bondage was outlawed more than 150 years ago.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:52 PM ^
OSU going to have to channel its inner Cardelle Jones...
December 29th, 2023 at 8:53 PM ^
They’re going with the Iowa game plan. Win by punting
December 29th, 2023 at 8:53 PM ^
Mizzou is just going to fire downhill on standard downs until OSU punishes them downfield for not doing so. Henderson is the only guy that looks like he can hurt the defense right now, but numbers can clamp him down. Things could change but this has all the makings of a veeeery low-scoring grind.
As far as I've seen, Day has never put together a diverse running game to counteract this issue. He has that nice beef formation that he got a couple of long runs with, but if he doesn't have other stuff to work with those packages, it won't work long-term.
Soft is a choice.

Ohio gonna get this kid killed.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:55 PM ^
Devin Brown era going well.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:55 PM ^
This is a super Big 10 West game.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:56 PM ^
Keeping an obviously injured player in the game is much less of a player safety issue than whatever we accused Michigan of doing this season.

Why that play wasn't challenged or reviewed because it was a clear fumble...
December 29th, 2023 at 8:56 PM ^
Extremely exciting game thus far. 🥱
December 29th, 2023 at 8:57 PM ^
Ohio St even gets calls vs SEC teams. That play should’ve been at least reviewed and they didn’t even take a damn look at it!
December 29th, 2023 at 8:57 PM ^
Devin Brown getting crushed early on. Good gameplan. Now get the running game going
December 29th, 2023 at 8:58 PM ^
Johnny Walker and his brothers Black and Red with the huge sack.
December 29th, 2023 at 8:58 PM ^
Brown gets crushed. And looking at the pattern, it appears to be a triangle concept of a sort. The first read was the out, and it was sort of covered, but I think Brown could have thrown it. Didn't have time for anything else to develop.
He's not making fast reads. He's hurt. They're using Henderson in the wildcat out of desperation. This looks reeeeaaaally ugly for offensive genius Ryan Day.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
I like it because it doesn’t give him a chance to show whether Brown is an improvement or not. They’ll go into the off-season not knowing who their starter is unless they go to the portal for one.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:02 PM ^
OSU is still gonna pull this out -- via its defense (and attrition). Mizzou's offense is basically doing nothing, even with good field position a few times.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:01 PM ^
Does Mizzou's Schrader remind anyone else of Corum?
Even just a little bit?
Maybe I'm drinking too much?
December 29th, 2023 at 9:04 PM ^
Not on my initial viewing, but I confess I haven't seen him much at all this year.
I'm always in favor of D-2 guys making it big, though--I follow Minnesota-Duluth's D2 programs a fair amount up here.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:02 PM ^
OSU D needs to be perfect from here on out.

Missouri showing how mid the SEC is outside of Georgia and Bama
December 29th, 2023 at 9:03 PM ^
Pretty crappy team, really -- a team that beat Middle Tennessee by (checks notes) 4 points.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:07 PM ^
Yep! Missouri, Ole Miss, TN and LSU are all average teams propped up by Bama and Georgia and the SEC poll bias
December 29th, 2023 at 9:04 PM ^
took UGA down to the wire
December 29th, 2023 at 9:03 PM ^
I think all teams who play OSU should wear blue and have big yellow block Ms on their helmets.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:03 PM ^
Confession: Took OSU -2.5 1st half.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:05 PM ^
At this point the only 2.5 worth taking would be a total points over.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:14 PM ^
Osu safety would give a score mean of 2.5. Hoping for that.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:04 PM ^
This is why that thread where everyone said our offense was mediocre was laughable earlier. OSU's defense is entirely legit and they are laying it on Mizzou. If their offense keeps mucking it up they'll probably break, though.
Side note: is their returner an idiot? calling for the fair catch inside the 10 repeatedly
December 29th, 2023 at 9:05 PM ^
At the 4? Insane.
And you've got a true freshman QB running out there. What could go wrong?
December 29th, 2023 at 9:07 PM ^
Absolutely nothing. Let's open this up and turn it into a track meet.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:07 PM ^
I know they just had Fields and Stroud, and that McCord had a pulse at least before transferring out. HOWEVER, with how anOSU has recruited for about 10 years now, I find it truly bizarre that they're down to a decidedly meh and decidedly injured Devin Brown vs a TrFr they don't seem to even want on the field. Hate to see it.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
It makes total sense to me now why McCord was pissed about not being guaranteed the starting job.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:08 PM ^
Anyone take the over on total punts for the game? This game is miserable and now it’s QB3.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:08 PM ^
With all these free defenders, Mizzou clearly must have engaged in an illegal sign-stealing scheme.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:08 PM ^
Kienholz isn't even a future star. He's the 13th overall *dual-threat* QB.
He's a depth guy. Playing as a true freshman.
Time to draw up some new option plays. And the pistol looks suggest that's what's coming.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
114 total yards of offense in this game.
As many punts as 1st downs.
Sad.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:09 PM ^
We watching Iowa? Lol.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:10 PM ^
Nearly identical uniforms, nonexistent offenses and drooling boredom… I had no idea that the Iowa-Nebraska Reenactment Club had this much pull.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:10 PM ^
The Urban Meyer magic is no longer at Ohio- just plug a freshman qb in for the injured qb and not lose a beat. Ryan Day Is proving he was put on 3rd base without hitting a triple. His recruiting is lacking at Ohio. I don’t see much future with him as head coach.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:11 PM ^
"We have as many punts as we have first downs, 7. This is a goood kick, though."
Welcome back to the Big Ten Mean, OSU!
I'll be honest, I was planning on doing something else this evening. And I still might. But this is absolutely fantastic viewing right now, I can't look away.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:12 PM ^
Bucks defense will wear down because their offense is total shit.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:13 PM ^
Let's all be honest, Mizzou's QB run game is exactly how we wanted JJ to be used.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:17 PM ^
And want him to be used against Bama as well. Saving him isn’t going to work any more. It’s win or go home.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:17 PM ^
Monday, yes. Especially given that he was a bit dinged, I was fine with how he was used against OSU.
Every one of these shoestring tackles is a potential turned ankle, and we are seeing in real time what happens when a QB has one of those, too.
Monday you probably have to take the risk. But it is still a risk.
December 29th, 2023 at 9:14 PM ^
This is awful to watch
December 29th, 2023 at 9:15 PM ^
Yes, you should punt here. No, you should not take a TO before your punt. Just take the delay.
