They post the same thing about open candidacy. At least it didn’t last long like the Vikings gig? Other than that, I don’t see much else to look into on this?

There is a rumor out there that the Chargers were very impressed with Mike McDonald and are leaning in that direction.

The fact that I started that rumor with no facts is besides the point...

New post:  There is a rumor that Harbaugh farted during the interview and then pretended like nothing happened.  The remainder of the interview was shortened due to the poor air quality in the room.

The Chargers' owner did not appreciate this lack of manners from the coaching candidate.  No offer is forthcoming.

Anybody else over this shit every single January? I love what Jim has done for Michigan and if he truly wants to go slay the Super Bowl dragon so be it, but this gets tiring every year.

who has to eat crow? the man interviews for these jobs every offseason. He spent 8 hours interviewing on NSD.

Like I love the guy and appreciate all he's done, cannot wait until it's renamed Harbaugh Hall. But at a certain point the man needs to shit or get off the pot and now is the best shot he'll have to either leave with all the goodwill imaginable or say he's staying for the rest of his life.

I get this was a big narrative being pushed by some last year, but our entire class had already signed and we weren’t recruiting anybody to close the class out. Jim interviewing on signing day was no more relevant than if he were interviewing any other day.

I’m over it for the simple fact that it absolutely hurts our portal recruiting and I’m sure our actual recruiting.  One off season, sure.  3 in a row, it absolutely is impacting our future teams.  I have no problem with him wanting to coach in the NFL, but these searches are occurring at really important points in the off season when the staff should be getting transfers on campus and using our recent success to attract them.  There is a complete lack of that type of action this year.

I agree.

It's gotten real old.  It's time for Jim to move on.

I can't imagine anyone wanting a middling NFL Charger gig over UM who has reached elite status.

Maybe, it's just because I think the college game is much better.

Forgive me for being disappointed, but I can't hide it.

Good Luck coach, but please move on.

I’m not saying it’s time to move on from him, but I do think it’s reasonable for the AD to be using language in his contract to dissuade this from happening every off season.  Or wanting to slap a massive buyout on him.  Big buyouts on successful coaches is not a novel concept except in Ann Arbor.

I’d prefer if Harbaugh would see that building a dynasty here like Saban built is every bit as much an accomplishment as winning a Super Bowl, but if he is absolutely intent on chasing a Super Bowl he has certainly earned that right. I just want to end the uncertainty so it doesn’t kill our recruiting of new kids, transfers, our existing roster, and coaches.

Prior to this current run that Michigan is on Harbaugh took a pay cut and was probably on the borderline of being fired. I’m sure he didn’t feel much love. That has to be in the back of his mind that this fan base can turn on you quickly. I would keep my options open too and one could argue that if you still have interest in going to the NFL his stock isn’t going to get any higher.

I hope he stays. If he leaves I would understand.
