Honorable Mention: 2005 Penn State, Manningham GW TD catch on 4th down with no time left
Worst: 2007 Appalachian State, the end of Lloyd Carr and the beginning of the downfall of Michigan football
Honorable Mention: 2007 OSU, 91 total offensive yards; Chris Wells runs for 222 yards

Best: Defenestration of Notre Dame in the rain.
Worst: Punt Fuckery
December 11th, 2020 at 4:02 PM ^
Best: 2011 OSU
Honorable mention: 2019 ND
Worst: 2015 MSU
All for pretty obvious reasons

Exactly what I came here to post.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:03 PM ^
UM vs Nebraska “Hoke Years”. It was a loss at home. Took my son on his first trip to the Big House.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:03 PM ^
Best: 2011 under the lights against notre dame
worst: 2014 vs Utah or 2008 vs toledo
December 11th, 2020 at 4:04 PM ^
For sheer excitement, 2011 ND takes the cake. The stadium was a madhouse for at least 20 minutes after it had ended; nobody wanted to leave.
The Horror was the worst for me as well.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
Best: Rose Bowl National Championship.
Worst: Colorado Hail Mary.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:21 PM ^
Same two that came to mind for me. Although, being 0-8 as a fan at the shoe weighs heavy on me. 2004 was not the best time to start an every other year trip to Columbus.
December 11th, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
Same best.
worst Purdue vs Michigan, 1995, 5-0, parents weekend my freshman year. Hungover as shit and let’s just say sub-optimal weather
December 11th, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
Best - '97 Ohio State
Worst - '99 Michigan State - fucking Plaxico
December 11th, 2020 at 5:15 PM ^
Best: 1971 UM/OSU in Ann Arbor highlighted by Woody busting up yard markers . Billy Taylor takes a pitch 21 yards to the house to take the lead with 2:07 left. OSU's final drive ends with a Thom Darden interception. Woody thinks there should have been a flag on Darden (of course), goes ape shit and starts throwing yard markers around. I was in the student section with a beautiful young woman having the time of my life.
Worst? MSU 2015. Blake O'Neill...just fall on the ball! I was not in the student section. Was not with a beautiful young woman. And most assuredly was not having the time of my life.
December 12th, 2020 at 12:13 AM ^
did you marry the chick from the ‘71 game?
if not ..... shoulda ..... woulda been an even better story
December 12th, 2020 at 9:42 AM ^
Married? Could not have been further from my mind. I was 19 and about getting high and getting laid. And studying in my spare time.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
Best: 1) 2003 OSU, 2) 2011 ND, 3) 2005 PSU
Worst: 2007 App St.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:18 PM ^
Don't forget the beating by Oregon in 2007 the week after the Horror. There were about 60k people in the stadium and the Ducks just wiped the field with a very disinterested UM team.
I was a frosh in '88 when #1 Miami came to town. Michigan had a huge lead (seems like 17pts) in the 4th quarter and then they allowed Miami(ytm) to come back and win 31-30. The first of many crushing loses I have experienced. I also remember the Colorado game. I was sitting in the 1st row in the opposite end zone. When the crowd went silent my wife (then gf) just said "what? is it over?" Yes, it's over.
December 11th, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
Vividly remember the CO game. No one in our section said a word. The walk back to the golf course was silent. My dad finally cuts the tension with a loud scream, WTF did they rush 3!
December 11th, 2020 at 10:09 PM ^
Was about halfway up, between the goal posts, in the endzone where the TD occurred. I was a teen, but I can recall the silence, and it feels like it lasted 5 minutes. I'll never forget some guy in our section yelled "Fuck that!" and it seemed like everyone took that as the cue to head for the exits as quietly as possible.
December 11th, 2020 at 10:47 PM ^
It was genuinely surreal. No one moved. No one spoke. At least five minutes went by and everyone sat in silence like they hoped they might wake up from a dream. I was still in high school but will never forget it.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:10 PM ^
Best: Tie between '05 Penn State Manningham game, and '07 MSU Manningham game. PSU game would be in the lead here, but the '07 game being at MSU made it all the sweeter.
Worst: Purdue game '08. Seeing a bad Purdue team pick apart our defense was extremely disheartening.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:12 PM ^
My timeframe is small......student season ticket holder for 1995-2000 and regular season ticket holder for 2015 onwards and some games in between.
Best games:
1) 97 OSU (For the marbles)
2) 95 OSU (Timmy B)
3) 99 OSU (notice a theme....hard to believe we have won 2 OSU games at home since)
Worst games:
1) 2015 against Sparty (last 10 seconds outweigh everything)
2) 1998 Syracuse (DNabb show)
3) 2002 Iowa (seemed like Dallas Clark caught 20 passes that day)
4) 2007 Oregon
5) 1995 Northwestern (wasn't sure if Brian Griese was going to make out of the stadium alive but so glad he lead that 97 team and I enjoy his broadcasting work)
December 11th, 2020 at 4:14 PM ^
I was going to put the 98 Syracuse game, then I realized I watched Brady vs McNabb in college. Regardless of result, that has to be considered kinda cool.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:13 PM ^
Best: 2000 Orange Bowl
Worst: Toledo 2008
December 11th, 2020 at 7:25 PM ^
Was waiting for someone to say Toledo. That had to be brutal.
Best: The Game ‘97
Worst: Illinois ‘99.
(Purdue 5-0 was close, though)
Toughest loss: Penn State ‘94. Still probably the best played football game I’ve seen in person. Just turned out the wrong way.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:15 PM ^
Best: Wisconsin in 2016
Worst: MSU 2015, OSU 2016
December 11th, 2020 at 4:16 PM ^
Best & Worst: MOON
December 11th, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
Interesting take, but I think I understand. I was there with a co-worker, who had never been to a college football game (!), and his girlfriend. Good weather as I recall, and Ryan Field, undersized and janky as it may be, is a nice place to watch football. NU fans are right up there with ND fans as the most civilized I've encountered.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:20 PM ^
Best: Brabbs
Worst: 99 Illinois and 2002 Iowa
December 11th, 2020 at 4:24 PM ^
2002 against Washington was a classic!
December 11th, 2020 at 4:21 PM ^
Best: 2011 Under the Lights. Denard Robinson to Roy Roundtree with no time left.
Worst: 2014 fumbled punt. Last few seconds. Game over.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:23 PM ^
Your worst is so bad you changed the year.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:21 PM ^
Best: 2003 Ohio State game, 100th meeting (a best that is aging like wine the worse we do in The Game)
Honorable mentions: 2002 Washington, 2002 Penn State (first OT at Michigan stadium)
Worst: 2013 Akron game (shitty game, shitty crowd)
December 11th, 2020 at 4:22 PM ^
Best: 2018 Penn State. Got to watch from the sidelines as we obliterated PSU. We forced 3 turnovers, had 5 sacks, and the stadium roared with chants of “We own Penn State”! I snagged a pic with the honorary captain Chris Webber that day too!
HM: 2019 ND. Also got to watch this game from the sidelines. The results on the field made the downpour an enjoyable experience. Plus the “terrible towels” being thrown at ND players was a fun sight.
Worst: 2017 MSU. Sitting miserably in the student section during a torrential downpour as we turned the ball over again and again. On the bright side, we did have a great time singing Mr. Brightside in this monsoon.
HM: 2010 Umass. The first Michigan game I ever attended; I was 11 at the time. Aside from Denard this game was not a fun one.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:22 PM ^
Best - Under The Lights I - My ears have never rang so long after a game and pouring into the street after was amazing.
Worst - Probably MSU snap game, but also could be MSU monsoon game. Honorable mention may go to maybe 2006 OSU??? Henne was hurt but tried to play and I believe it was like 33 degrees and raining the whole game. I may be mixing up the last one. I just remember we were all sitting there just hoping the temp would drop a little more so it would just snow instead of a steady cold rain.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:22 PM ^
Best: 2018 PSU
Worst: 2014 @ ND
Best and worst: 2016 @ Iowa (game sucked but stadium, town, and atmosphere was incredible)
December 11th, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
Went to the night game at Iowa during the RR years. May be the most fun i've had at football game. Got there early and bar hopped and watched football all day and then walked up the hill to the game. Everyone was so nice all day and the atmosphere was awesome even though UM lost. Great place to go watch a game if you can swing it.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:59 PM ^
I almost had MSU monsoon game on my list but it was a warmer night so rain was fun for a while and game remained close. 10 degrees colder and this game is probably on my list.
December 11th, 2020 at 7:30 PM ^
I think you mean 2007 OSU. 2006 was #1 vs #2.
And yes, ‘07 is near the top for me, too. Hart was also playing very hurt. Mesko had an amazing day, but other than that, just a brutal slog.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:22 PM ^
Best: Penn State Henne to Manningham, 3rd row on the pylon behind the Penn State band
Worst: App State, 2014 Minnesota, M00N, MSU in the rain a few years back
December 11th, 2020 at 4:24 PM ^
Best-Notre Dame UTL 1. Only because of the up and down of emotions in the last 2(?) minutes of the game and the party in the stadium after.
Honorable-OSU 2003 the 100th Game
Worst-App. State The Horror
MSU 2015
December 11th, 2020 at 4:26 PM ^
This probably reflects when I became a UM fan, but is it bad I feel like I've seen many more "bad" dong punches than "good" wins?!
App State, Oregon, OSU (pretty much every year except that one year), the Dantonio MSU years, ugh, ugh, ugh...and Toledo...and sooooo many others...woof
The first UTL game was pretty kick ass though! Woot woot!
I'm gonna go for a hike. I need to think about something positive!
December 11th, 2020 at 4:26 PM ^
Best: 1997 OSU
Worst: 2010 Wisconsin
December 11th, 2020 at 5:01 PM ^
I was that the Wisconsin 2010 game, too. So bad. Scott Tolzien 15-16 and 500 yards rushing for Wisconsin.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
Best either the 2017? game at Northwestern where Michigan came back from being down 17-0 or the 2018? Penn State dominance at home.
Worst was the 2010? game at Illinois where Roundtree got caught at the 2 and they never punched it in and ended up losing.
As you can see, I'm horrible with years.
December 11th, 2020 at 5:05 PM ^
That was the 2009 game at Illinois. I was there, too. So bad. Up 13-7 ruled at TD and then said he was down and Minor after. Illinois went on a 31-0 run.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
Best: Michigan vs Notre Dame 2011
Worst: MSU 2015 (various OSU games come close)
December 11th, 2020 at 4:29 PM ^
Pigskin Classic against Virginia was the best.
Ohio State game in Columbus in Rich Rod's first or second year. 37-7 loss. Only Michigan football game I've attended that the team has lost.
December 11th, 2020 at 4:30 PM ^
Best: First Under the Lights against ND for the atmosphere and the game.
Worst: too many to mention, but some are the Colorado Hail Mary, The Horror, the punt fiasco against MSU, etc etc
December 11th, 2020 at 4:32 PM ^
Worst Games attended:
2005 - Texas vs Michigan Rose Bowl - Vince Young...ugh
1994 - Colorado @ Michigan Kordell’s Hail Mary
(Honorable Mention: 2003 & 2006 Rose Bowl losses to USC, 2000 - Michigan @ UCLA - 110 degrees/Navarre choke)
Best Games attended:
2000 - Alabama vs Michigan Orange Bowl - Brady beats Bama in 2OT in South Beach
1998 - Washington vs Michigan - Rose Bowl/National Championship
1997 - Ohio State @ Michigan - Storming the field/Woodson clinching the Rose Bowl
(Honorable Mention - 2013 - Notre Dame @ Michigan - Under the Lights II, 1997 - Iowa @ Michigan - Tin Dwight/Michigan comeback, 1995 - Ohio State @ Michigan - Upset W/Biakabutuka 313 yards)

Hi, Benn
December 11th, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
Best prolly 2002 Washington or Braylonfest. Was also at the Dileo slide hold FG against NW, but the weather was so bad it wasn’t really enjoyable.
Worst was 2010 Wisconsin loss where Wiscy ran the same 2 plays up the middle for endless yards.
