#2 Washington vs. #3 Texas ...who do you want to win?

Submitted by MaizeBlueA2 on December 9th, 2023 at 8:58 AM

The only priority is to beat Alabama.  Doesn't matter how, just win.

But who are you rooting for (or against) in the other semifinal?

I ask because there is no obvious rooting interest. There is no OSU or SEC team to root against. There is no darling underdog to root for. Michigan has to play both teams next year.

Also, these types of programs often get lumped together. I've noticed that people seem "like" Michigan, Washington, Texas, UNC...those fan bases tend to get along, they have similar reputations, it's generally cordial between them. Kinda of like Duke, Northwestern, Vandy, and Stanford for the private schools. Or Miami and USC.

Anyway, with no glaringly obvious choice...who do you want to win? #2 Washington or #3 Texas?

Bonus: Who do you *think* will win the other semifinal? #2 Washington or #3 Texas?

Obligatory: BEAT BAMA.

Washington. I like their team, and I like Kalen DeBoer, and I’d love a Big Ten vs. Pac 12 championship game. I was hoping for Michigan vs. Washington in the Rose Bowl in the semi, but it’s still my preferred matchup in the final.

Went to UW so gotta go for the dawgs in this one. If it's M vs UW for the title, even though I generally want UE to win, that would mean I would have to root against M, which I could never under any circumstances do.

I’d prefer to play Washington I think. I think Texas would give us more trouble because they are the more complete team. I don’t think Washington plays much defense and their offense is comparable to Texas

The one Greg Sankey approves. Or the one with the most points. Or Udub since I lived there for two years and my son was born there.

Although my brother lives in Austin. Nah!

Washington for me.  It’s two big 10 teams going forward beating 2 SEC teams for an all Big10 championship.  I think we fair better against them as many have noted.  More likely to be able to get the run game going on offense but on defense although both teams have elite wr’s I think our corners match up better with UW’s bigger wr’s as opposed to Texas ultra fast wr’s.  Texas having hoe field advantage is just another piece.

Texas on the other still gives its own level of awesomeness.  Particularly if JJ and Ewers both come back. If that week 2 game next season has the billing of a national championship rematch as well as a JJ vs Ewers potential #1 draft pick potential Heisman showdown we could literally be talking about one of the most hyped non conference games in modern college football history.  At home in the big house.  Pretty F’N sweet

Washington.

Not because I think they'd be easier but because it would be one last hurrah of PAC10 vs BIG10 and it would ultimately be two B1G teams squaring off.

Rooting for Washington.  Easier matchup for UM in the finals.   Texas has some nasty DTs.

Who I I think will win?  Texas.  Texas O is just about as good as Washington's, but Texas clearly has the better D.  Prediction: Texas 35, Washigton 27.

My god-son is a freshman at UW (parents are both UM grads).  We were all set for a very fun new years day of taunting each other, so definitely UW to meet UM in the championship.

Id rather face Washington as Texas has some beastly DTs ...and I think we would be able to manage Washington better than Texas overall

But if we did play Washington and lost, fucckkkkk, the fans over here would be insufferable...more so than they already are.

Its awful

UW.  Without question.  Attended both schools, wife worked for both schools, and we still live in Seattle.  I'm living the dream as a CFB fan year.  If both schools are in the NC game, I can't really lose.... That said.  Michigan is MY team.

Excited as hell to go to the Rose Bowl this year.  #GoBlue

I'm actually going to this game. Will be visiting a friend in New Orleans and he already has tickets. Then plan to go to game in Houston after we beat Alabama.

I was born and raised a Wazzu fan and used to loathe the Huskies and their yacht-owning, fancy coffee sipping fanbase.  But then I left home to attend UM, separated from the apple cup a bit, and live far from Washington now.  I'll be rooting for Washington, and I think that game is a coin flip or slightly favors UW.

I think Texas is getting a lot of felatio for the Bama win, but Bama was not very good early season.  They were still deep in "we're going to become a physical smash mouth team again" mode in September and set a lot of downs on fire against Texas.

I used to live around Seattle and have relatives who went to Washington.

So I'd like to see Washington win.  And then Michigan play them and win in the final.

Can't say I really care that much.  If we were to lose to one, I'd probably rather lose to Texas so that might make me prefer Texas.  Having to hear how we lost to another B10 team for the next decade will be as annoying as hearing about App State every year.  Texas "being back" may also create some competition in the SEC that could cause a bit of parity, which would also be nice.

Of course, assuming we'll win, I'd still rather beat Texas than Washington.  More for the name than anything else.

I really haven’t thought about it because my only concern right now is beating Alabama and I strongly believe that Wash and Texas are both beatable.

But since you asked, after some thought I’d rather play Washington. Their defense is the worst overall unit between the 4 teams (offense and defense) and our defense is the better unit for us meaning we’d stand a better shot of stopping their offense.

Washington, because they are a traditional bowl game opponent for Michigan.

My preference would have been to play them in the Rose Bowl but the National Championship game will also do.
