I hated this for JH, but he…

I hated this for JH, but he was in over his head here. I hope he finds his groove/vibe. He's a Michigan legend.

The part that makes me bitter is that the admin allowed the Sanderson situation to play out the way it did and they end up firing JH anyway.

The best predictor of future…

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

Is anyone actually shocked by this?

What a POS.

I hope Petitie…

What a POS.

I hope Petitie Weenie finds himself out of the B1G sooner rather than later ASAP and he can take Warde with him.

Glad this is more of an official sounding bit of news. From everything I've heard, he's a good get.

Not acceptable. We all know…

Not acceptable. We all know that had it been other people in Kelce's place, people would be calling for their head on a silver platter. It's okay for him because he's Taylor Swift's boyfriend.

I don't care about "heat of the moment of the game." He wasn't the only player in the midst of emotion but we don't see them having toddler meltdowns.

The sooner the Chiefs and Kelce become irrelevant, the better.

I saw a similar rumor over…

I saw a similar rumor over on the *cough* other board. Not sure if that's the source or not.

To those defending Clink's…

To those defending Clink's decision to leave and admonishing those critical of him leaving; it isn't so much him leaving but the way he did it.

You don't tell these kids you're staying and then you go back on your word. Apparently, Herbert did this too which is why there was a lot of emotion.

These kids get that these coaches have to do right for themselves in terms of their careers. What they do not like is feeling that they've been lied to. It's moves like this that makes them want to leave, not always over the fact that a particular coach is leaving. Don't lie and don't make promises that you can't keep. End of.

He has been here before but…

He has been here before but I don't recall much about him. Was he connected to Navy football?

He told the team he was…

He told the team he was coming back iirc. He changed his mind.

This right here.

I feel…

This right here.

I feel that this may have been close to the only reason he was promoted. On top of the fact we were at a real bad place in the coaching cycle for external candidates.

What other team gets completely gutted & turned over with staff along with so much "will they/won't they" drama completely distracting from the national championship a month ago? Nobody. Only Michigan.

Right? Especially in the…

Right? Especially in the same conference/division? 🤣

Well... if this isn't…

Well... if this isn't suspicious

So if we hire Wink and get…

So if we hire Wink and get Clink to stay, that might be the best sounding defensive duo.

But in all seriousness, wtf is going on? I'm waiting for a striped tent and balloons to pop up followed by some calliope music.

My guess is that Warde didn…

My guess is that Warde didn't ask or work with SM in regards to a list, or if he did, SM's list was poached and Warde underestimated Harbaugh's poaching.

There's too much knee jerking response vibes I'm getting with the staff filling

You apparently either didn't…

You apparently either didn't read what he wrote or so wrapped up into your own narrative, you can't see the forest through the trees.

How in the world did you even glean from that post that everything is  Warde's fault? He gave Warde kudos for things that we, including you, knew nothing about.

Agreed. Some on that list…

Agreed. Some on that list might have been who JH poached anyway.

This is what has been…

This is what has been sticking at me. Coming off a national championship, we should not be having this horrible of a transition.

I second that

I second that

This is a very well…

This is a very well constructed post with very valid and articulated reasons. Thank you for that insight. It's always welcoming to hear from people who are in the industry or privy to such things.

I have a friend who is a SC coach an a SEC school who said some very similar things to which you did, but definitely in more in generalities. For me, hearing similarities between what they have said in the general college landscape and what you said makes so much sense.

While I couldn't put my finger on it, the vibe I got from the AD since Harbaugh left has been all reactionary and passive defense (don't react until you have to react). The athletic department has acted like a deer in headlights and that feeling didn't sit right with me. With the amount of prep you described for all of the "what ifs", it's a travesty that he has inadvertently created an uphill battle for Sherrone Moore. In my job, I always prep for the worst case scenario and always have a back up plan. Why this doesn't seem like there were any contingencies other than SM for an organization like Michigan AD seems baffling and gross neglect.

You don't make things harder for your athletic programs, especially for your biggest cash cow.

This post is what some of…

This post is what some of the apologists need to see. Urban didn't gut OSU on his way out but look at what's happening with us. For those who keep making excuses for Jim leaving the coaching cupboard on the bare side so he can be successful and win, didn't Urban want to win too?

There's plenty of winning talent out there and it's not only at Michigan.

That's what it sounds like…

That's what it sounds like and just the vibe I'm getting, that's what it definitely feels like

It seems funny that we heard…

It seems funny that we heard nothing about Harbaugh's interest in Clink and Elston and now suddenly we do.

Harbaugh has so many people to pick from. Why suddenly the interest?

1. Loss to TCU

1. Loss to TCU

2. Trey's block. The Louisville fans I dealt with on a daily basis were insufferable.

3. That horrible ball spot in the OSU game

4. That MSU blocked punt

No one said they weren't a…

No one said they weren't a thing. What was said was that going to be a strength coach in the NFL is a step down. The money and impact made for that position is at the college level. Top NFL guy was making $750kish ballpark.

I'm completely fine with this

I'm completely fine with this

A good friend of mine is a…

A good friend of mine is a SEC S&C who is well connected. They said the money and prestige is in college, especially at the D1 level in the higher revenue sports.

Going to the NFL to be a SC person is lower pay and less work/satisfaction. That's why they normally don't.

That being said, they told me before this happened that if they were Herbert, getting paid and working with the athletes that he was, they wouldn't even consider the pros. They stressed to me that this was usually a widely held view amongst college S&Cs

I have no clue what Herbert's personal or professional plans are. Maybe he wants to be in Cali and take it a bit easier. Maybe he's being offered an expanded role. Who knows.

Not usually for a S&C…

Not usually for a S&C. Highest paid is about 750k and they make little impact on pro players because they don't develop as much as a 17 year old kid. Plus a lot of pro players have their own people. In S&C circles it isn't normal to go from college to pros. So yeah, for some it isn't always an upgrade but continue to believe what you want

Sorry but it's fact that S&C…

Sorry but it's fact that S&C rarely move to NFL because players usually have their own guys and get paid less than college.  It's not just being full of shit.

There's also rumors he's…

There's also rumors he's trying to poach the nutrition staff too

They're really not

They're really not

This is not normal for a S&C…

This is not normal for a S&C coach. He was also the highest paid college S&C. Unless his dream has always been to work for a NFL team, there's something very wrong going on.

Come on Lions. You deserve…

Come on Lions. You deserve it.

Plus no one wants to see a SF vs KC super bowl.

Maybe I missed something…

Maybe I missed something. Wasn't Kirk supposed to retire this year, or was it speculation?

I'm not a fan of the NCAA,…

I'm not a fan of the NCAA, but he has a show cause firing stuck to him. Given what happened with CS and current NCAA investigations, it might be best for Michigan to steer clear of anyone's reputation that could generate any further eyeballing

Right. Why hire someone who…

Right. Why hire someone who isn't familiar with the system instead of promoting those who are?

Not impressed with him as a…

Not impressed with him as a DC. I don't see how we would run the amoeba defense with him unless he was made Co-DC.

Regardless, it would be a very underwhelming hire.

There was some Twitter…

There was some Twitter chatter about this guy earlier today that he was rumored to have been contacted by SM.

Now supposedly Sam is talking about him. I don't follow Sam, but I guess for someone who does, they can go verify if that's the case or not.

That was amazing 😆 🤣

That was amazing 😆 🤣

Warde mentioned based on…

Warde mentioned based on scheduling and bye weeks, they said they would ask Harbaugh to return for a game as honorary captain. I think that's awesome.

I also love him using "with enthusiasm unknown to mankind" in his speech. It was a nice touch

Woooo! So glad that waiver…

Woooo! So glad that waiver came through as quickly as it did. Let's gooooooooo!

The Rust Belt Bonanza!

The Rust Belt Bonanza!

I want to focus on #6. I…

I want to focus on #6. I agree that money wasn't a motivator, but I believe it's the principle of the act in itself that I think started this whole chain of events.

Would he have walked away in '21 or '22 if the Chargers offered him then what they're offered to him now had Ward not restructured his contract? Would he had left with unfinished business of no national championship?

I read the recent Detroit News article that they published on Harbaugh and this stood out to me:

“And (at the Chargers), I was there in the building, people were still there who were there when I was still playing (1999-2000). They were good to me then, they’re good to me now and good to me through the years. Just felt like they left the light on for me.”

In my opinion,  this speaks volumes. I think that Ward's restructuring left Harbaugh not "feeling the love" as many others were quoted about what seem to matter to him. The Chargers made him feel that again, on top of getting what he wanted.

Would he had stayed at Michigan forever? No. I think he would eventually found his way to the NFL but I don't know if it would have been now?

I wish him well but I don't…

I wish him well but I don't really follow the NFL and if I did, it would be the Lions more likely. So no, I won't root for them.

As for a super bowl? Ehhh. I don't think it will happen for awhile and I don't think it'll happen as fast as the Spanos expect. Unfortunately for Jim, I believe that the Spanos and the few fans they do have are going to have very unrealistic expectations

Makes sense. More money,…

Makes sense. More money, impact, and rewarding for S&C coaches at the college level. It's apparently pretty rare for those guys to leave for the pros

I'm thinking that the point…

I'm thinking that the point total needs to be increased to start posts.
