The writing on the wall for Ryan Day is becoming clearer. Ryan Day has a slow leak in his raft.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:53 PM ^
If they start losing QB's and WR's....two positions he has actually developed well - they may indeed have bigger issues. Very lucky they held onto Hartline this off-season or could have taken an even bigger hit.
Per their defense, they just look soft and confused. If offense starts to look shaky, may be stranded on 3rd even longer.
Their approach the past 15 years has been very SEC in terms of recruiting, but doesn't look like they are ready to go all SEC on incoming freshmen.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:17 PM ^
Hopefully he gets in a 'pickle' or 'run down' and gets tagged out at 2nd.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
Since he is starting on 3rd, being tagged out at second means he went backwards. Seems appropriate.
December 17th, 2022 at 11:32 PM ^
Segura will stand in for us in the metaphor, but without having earned his way on base.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:57 PM ^
Obvious 3rd base is going the wrong way. Apparently you can't compensate enough to overcome fan toxicity. Ask CJ how the Orcs treated him.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:19 PM ^
Since they just got the #1WR in the '24 class I wouldn't say they are losing WRs. Although it would be quite a shame if he left too. After we beat them next year, their '24 class might totally fall apart.
December 17th, 2022 at 2:15 PM ^
Has he developed them? I mean they get 5* qbs and WRS every year. I'm not sure how much better Day makes those kids.
December 17th, 2022 at 2:22 PM ^
Hartline definitely can recruit and develop receivers. Wilson and Olave are lighting it up at the next level.
I'm really not sure the same can be said about Qb's. Haskin's, Cardale Jones were bad attitude busts, Barrett never had the arm, CJ Stroud will be a high pick but is shaky when pressured. Fields is the outlier not the rule.
December 17th, 2022 at 2:57 PM ^
Fields has issues throwing the ball. The damage he has done has occurred largely with his feet. He had a ways to go as a passer. I wouldn’t claim that he is an outlier yet.
Stroud is a better passer than Fields, but has significant problems with handling pressure. If he can resolve that at the next level he will be a productive NFL quarterback.
December 17th, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
Not really defending Fields, but his WRs and OL are garbage.
December 20th, 2022 at 3:22 AM ^
Lots of talk by nuts about their receivers being poor blockers...so maybe their development isn't complete either.
December 17th, 2022 at 5:51 PM ^
He’s about to get picked off while leading off 3rd with that dumb confused look on his face.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
It does appear he's not the brightest bulb in the knife drawer. He handled JJ McCarthy poorly. and Kyle McCord is not working out to be what he thought he would be. McCord should have left already, especially since they are (apparently) looking to the transfer portal for a QB.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:54 PM ^
I auto-upvote all mixed metaphors.
December 17th, 2022 at 2:02 PM ^
He needs extra time to focus on his Just for Men products.

Ryan Day on Kon Tiki with a Cast Away beard.
December 17th, 2022 at 4:07 PM ^
His record is 63-5. The idea that Day is either a bad coach or on the hot seat is fantasy
December 17th, 2022 at 5:22 PM ^
1-2 is the only record that matters to those people
December 17th, 2022 at 8:01 PM ^
0-2 is all that matters because as all rivals and writers have taught me you can start history at any point you see fit to work your narrative.

See, Cooper, John.
December 17th, 2022 at 5:09 PM ^
This is bad for us, now Davis is going to OSU.
December 17th, 2022 at 6:01 PM ^
Why? It is not as if OSU can just pick up whoever they want as soon as Day calls.
December 17th, 2022 at 9:30 PM ^
There is a reason he hasn't committed yet.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:25 PM ^
Bucknuts are claiming they’re going to be in the lead for Jadyn David…. they’re fucking imbeciles of course
December 17th, 2022 at 12:28 PM ^
Why would he go play for a team that can’t win the Big Ten with a coach on the hot seat?
December 17th, 2022 at 1:10 PM ^
Because they have one of the best passing offenses in the country and perennially have great receivers.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
They may not be in the lead, but it's not out of the question that OSU could push for him now. They had a relationship with him before, and I think it was one of Davis's top choices until Raiola took the spot.
December 17th, 2022 at 12:57 PM ^
Well that and him pushing his timeline is concerning. No qb in 23 after going all in on Moore now all in on Davis. Really need to win one of these QB recruitments.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:11 PM ^
The one nice thing about college football now with the transfer portal is that I don't think it would be a program disaster if Michigan were to miss on Davis like it would have been in the past. It would not be ideal and would be a setback, but Michigan would be one of the top, if not the top, transfer destinations in 2024 if Davis were to elect for another school. Look at the current crop of QBs in the transfer portal now. I think you can win with some of those guys in a one to two year stop-gap.
The same goes for OSU missing on Raiola. OSU would have a parade of QBs lining up to transfer if the job were open with few prospects in the QB room.
December 17th, 2022 at 7:44 PM ^
Maybe Cade will end up back at Michigan in two years...
December 17th, 2022 at 2:45 PM ^
I wouldn’t really say he pushed back his decision. He was set to decide in spring then moved it forward significantly then pushed it back a bit. I think we’re still in a good spot
December 17th, 2022 at 1:06 PM ^
OSU had relationship with all top recruits. Looking at the way they are developing QBs there and the #1 guy (edit:) decommitting does not bode well for OSU.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:10 PM ^
Life, I may be in the minority, but - I love what they are doing in Columbus. Knowles and his D scheme? Perfect - I can’t say enough good things about it. Their line play on O&D: more than what I could have hoped for. Player retention - making great choices like letting Burrows transfer.
I really enjoy this…
December 17th, 2022 at 1:44 PM ^
Davis had OSU at the top of his list earlier in 2022. I saw some pundits before this news saying Davis was going to hold off on committing until Jan 2023.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:20 PM ^
Who is Jadyn David?
December 17th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
The guy who put the light bulb in the knife drawer earlier in the thread.
December 17th, 2022 at 5:41 PM ^
It's kinda frightening that the above post makes sense to me.
December 17th, 2022 at 1:54 PM ^
I peeked into Eleven Warriors. They are bummed. Some are blaming NIL. LOL. It is funny to see OSU worried about paying players enough. Football is trending in the right direction for Michigan. Win that championship and lock down a top class in 24. Go Blue!

Iowa is exhibit A
Though I just read they are looking for an OC. Don't know what title the son will be given.

He could replace Sir Robin at MSU. They need someone fierce to lead them out on the field and in the postgame tunnel.
December 17th, 2022 at 8:49 PM ^
I heard if the son can go back and pass each grade in a couple weeks and then beat the new OC at an academic decathlon he gets to take over for his dad as head coach.
December 17th, 2022 at 3:14 PM ^
Seems to be working out pretty well at Michigan.
