Danger, Josh Gattis! Danger!

I totally didn't develop a crush on Molly Parker watching that show. Nope, not at all.

Not as cute as Judy in the original series, though...

I didn’t know there’d been a remake of the original

I prefer Heather Graham as Judy in the 1998 movie. ...which also had Gary Oldman as a very evil Dr. Smith.

+1 for Roller Girl

And Felicity Shagwell!

I sat behind Heather Graham and Mathew Perry at a movie in LA in 1999. There were some other minor stars with them as well: the Blonde comedian from MADTV and one of the secondary characters from Swingers. HG was so skinny that her knees were wider than her thighs. I was checking out her ass (there wasn’t one) and I sort of was making a pity/ooh gross face. She turned around and busted me.

Just wasn't as good as he thought he was. He was lucky with Michigan's talent.

He was Worthy of it

In all serious. Did that actually happen?
I know that admissions or whatever was the prevailing factor either way.

oh he was admitted alright

As fine a board as this is, no one here knows whether it happened.

Serious regression after leaving Michigan, plus Michigan didn't seem to need him at all.
January 27th, 2023 at 9:39 AM ^
I honestly didn't feel he deserved the broyles award. I remember being so frustrated with a lot of his game plans that year. He had three great game plans, but throughout the season it was like watching somebody hit their head against a brick wall. He would continuously try to go up the middle on first down and set himself up behind the sticks.
January 27th, 2023 at 9:43 AM ^
Good thing we don't do that anymore.
January 27th, 2023 at 9:44 AM ^
Was that Gattis? Or his boss?
January 27th, 2023 at 11:17 AM ^
I don't think Jim is as involved in the play calling as people want to think. He tells the coordinators what he wants his offerings to be, but Sam has made it sound like Moore and Weiss had specific jobs with play calling.
January 27th, 2023 at 9:48 AM ^
The whole head and brick wall thing is Harbaugh trait. Did you watch the Fiesta bowl or is it erased from memory?
January 27th, 2023 at 10:28 AM ^
Sam Webb said Moore called the basic downs and Weiss had third and long and red zone. I don't believe Jim has as much to do with play calling as people think.

I just want to know who called the Philly Special!
January 27th, 2023 at 1:35 PM ^
It's way too late to relitigate this, but come on. We give Harbaugh grief for being conservative and predictable. If the play worked, we'd all be laughing about how fun and unorthodox it was.
Don't bitch about play-calling after it doesn't work. That's lazy.
(I, too, in retrospect wish we hadn't called it. But to suggest that it was obviously a bad call at the time is silly. Was the halfback-pass a stupid call in the Ohio State game? No, because it worked.)
January 27th, 2023 at 2:17 PM ^
The reason it was dumb was multifold: a) as the favorite, take the points b) from the 2, if you’re going to go for it, do not call a play that can lose 8 yards if it goes bad fergodsakes. You get decent value out of pinning the opponent on the 2 even if you don’t score
That’s a play to pull out from like the 5 when you 100% need to score a TD.
January 27th, 2023 at 10:40 PM ^
Having your converted LB throw a jump pass against OSU was also pretty damn stupid -- but it worked. My biggest gripe is that Michigan continually gets themselves in situations where they need 3rd or 4th down conversions. Be more aggressive on early down, especially with a mobile QB.
January 28th, 2023 at 12:19 AM ^
On 4th and goal from the 2, on the first drive of the game, there's nothing wrong with kicking a FG or at worst getting stuffed at the goal line. Asking your freshman TE to throw a pass on an end around was absolutely a horrible idea then and now, and nobody is "relitigating" it. Just recalling how remarkably awful that playcall was. It was litigated in real time.
January 27th, 2023 at 3:53 PM ^
We'd all be laughing because it worked? Hell of an assumption.
January 27th, 2023 at 10:14 AM ^
He would continuously try to go up the middle on first down
His new plan in Miami was to throw an interception or fumble on first down
January 27th, 2023 at 10:23 AM ^
Yep, Gattis getting the Broyles award was complete revisionist history. He was pretty mediocre most of the season and as reports that his responsibilities were being lessoned, the offense improved. It's a crime that Gattis got the Broyles award over Mike Macdonald
January 27th, 2023 at 11:05 AM ^
Mike Macdonald got the last laugh. He became a defensive coordinator in the NFL.

January 27th, 2023 at 10:24 AM ^
Pretty sure that candidates are nominated by head coaches. Which means Harbaugh had to suggest Gattis to the committee and vouch for him.
January 27th, 2023 at 10:50 AM ^
There's a section committee as well with ex-coaches and members of the media. I couldn't find a description of how they actually select the finalists on their web site.
Apparently Desmond Howard is on the selection committee as a member of the media. Which helps makes up for the presence of Lou Holtz.
January 27th, 2023 at 10:30 AM ^
Did he regress or was he just never that good? Seemed to me he was gradually losing OC powers as Michigan morphed from 'speed in space' back to Harball over his tenure, plus Gattis leaving in a huff as Moore, Hart, and Weiss were on the rise. Doesn't sound like a guy who was doing well as OC here
January 27th, 2023 at 12:52 PM ^
Never that good. The Army play calling is one of the more painful experiences of my lifetime.
