Can the Moms update the OP with the schedule so it's not buried or have 20 threads created about it?
January 12th, 2022 at 11:33 AM ^
Has it been discussed on the blog if we are playing at Sparty again this year?
January 12th, 2022 at 11:36 AM ^
I dont believe it has been discussed.
But just to be sure lets ask Kieth Jackson. I'm sure he of all people would know.
January 12th, 2022 at 1:07 PM ^
Keith has a twin brother Kieth?
January 12th, 2022 at 2:01 PM ^
Kieth died. Keith has simply left the building.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
I'll just post it here since I've already posted it elsewhere...
Colorado St.
Hawaii
UConn
MD
@Iowa
@Indiana
PSU
(BYE)
MSU
@Rutgers
Nebraska
Illinois
@OSU
Love the way this sets up with a young defense. Go 4-0 and get ready for the big one at Iowa. Which feels like the Washington game from this year (first big test).
PSU feels like Wisconsin from this year...just win the damn thing, stay healthy, get to the bye week. Ugly win? Don't care.
Then we get two weeks to prepare for MSU. Blow their fucking doors off.
Nebraska is your late season danger game like PSU was this year. Then you're on the road trying to make history.
Michigan won't start the year unranked, but if it can get that @Iowa game...and I think they can. You might be looking at a couple of undefeated teams in Columbus in a top 3 match-up.
Long way before then, thought MBB would be better this year...they will have to work even harder than last offseason, but on paper in January...at least I can see a path.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:53 AM ^
the B10 part of our schedule lays out pretty well. and i sure hope we have all manner of fun and frippery prepared for sparty when they come to town after our bye week.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:08 PM ^
Coach Harbaugh should reach out to Campbell and the Lions for some trickeration ideas.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:11 PM ^
Maybe Campbell was inspired by Harbaugh/Gattis.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:12 PM ^
MSU has a bye the same week we do. So it’ll be all the frippery on both sides.
O/U number of total flea flickers: 4.5
January 12th, 2022 at 1:07 PM ^
I raise your 4.5 flea flickers by 1.5 fake punts and a fumblerooskie. Throw in an onside kick just for kicks.
January 12th, 2022 at 1:36 PM ^
And a banana peanut butter sandwich for you, Elvis.

Thanks, I just wanna be your Teddy Bear
January 12th, 2022 at 12:04 PM ^
This is about as good as the schedule can possibly set up for UM. Four games to get roles set before going to Iowa (though we do get weirdly explosive September Maryland). Bye before MSU, two relatively secure home games before going to OSU.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:10 PM ^
FYI MSU gets a bye before us as well.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:38 PM ^
My main concern is @Iowa. Early enough in the season to be a night game, which I’m sure it will be. That will be a tough, tough game. By end of season Illinois may be a lot more difficult than people realize.
January 12th, 2022 at 6:49 PM ^
Definitely a concern...however, I'm glad it's not a week or 2 later.
I like the big game that everyone is going to circle and respect in the offseason. You get 4 games to fine tune and then let's go.
Also, it's not like their offense is historically explosive. And our defense is my biggest worry.
That said, communication and they'll be testing our "eyes" for sure.
Could be an @Nebraska type game from this year, where that exact thing happened. Hostile crowd, night game, Nebraska scores off of fucking with us.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:07 PM ^
I believe we have a double bye before the MSU week. The schedule should read...
Bye bye
MSU
January 12th, 2022 at 12:07 PM ^
I like that early Maryland test for the secondary. One would think Demus returns to improve his draft stock. He and Rakim Jarrett should be an interesting matchup. I'd also like to see how much Tualia improves after another offseason in the system. He started out on fire last year, but can he put a full season together?
All that being said, I don't think M loses that game without a lot of self-inflicted wounds. We all know how good Maryland is for the first 3 games of each season. It's game 4 where the wheels fall off.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
September MD is much scarier than November MD
January 12th, 2022 at 12:11 PM ^
Damn, that's an easy schedule given that we have to play all the Big Ten East teams.
We do have to play September Maryland, so there is that.
PSU will be hard, glad it's at home. We should make it a maize out night game. I'm more concerned about it than MSU.
Iowa will be hard, they will be out for blood after the Big Ten Championship game beatdown, and it will likely be at night. But they have significant offense problems.
The Big Ten West team that scares me the most is Nebraska. They won't be 2021 Nebraska.
Baring key injuries, we should be 11-0 or 10-1 heading to Columbus for all the marbles.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:29 PM ^
We should be 11-0 or 10-1 heading to Columbus? You sound like 18 year old me.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:13 PM ^
I'll give the Big Ten this: they fixed their previous mistake. From 2014-19 we were playing MSU and OSU on the same rotation, which meant that our home schedule on even years was terrible. MSU had the same problem on odd years (playing both UM and OSU on the road). Flipping the game in 2020 made both schools' schedules more consistent.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:15 PM ^
Imagine this schedule with MSU away and those non-conference games. Gack.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:17 PM ^
Honestly, the defense probably won't be really tested till Penn State or MSU. Pretty nice intro for the guys. Honestly it's a pretty easy schedule overall if you assume 2021 = 2022 and Illinois, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Indiana all stay doo doo
January 12th, 2022 at 12:28 PM ^
Go 4-0 and get ready for the big one at Iowa. Which feels like the Washington game from this year (first big test).
Very similar since neither this year's Washington or next year Iowa will have an offense. I'd expect our offense to be able to put up 30 on everyone next year, defense is the question. Don't give up 30 to Iowa should be a pretty easy challenge.
I'd much rather play Iowa in game 4 than say MSU, PSU, or Nebraska that might actually be able to challenge us in a shootout.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:34 PM ^
Maryland in the 4th week is a problem. They just added Jacob Copeland from Florida he was a top 70 recruit. Their WR corps is as good as it gets save Ohio State
January 12th, 2022 at 12:47 PM ^
But how will they stop us from scoring 70?
January 12th, 2022 at 12:40 PM ^
I would say the Maryland is more of a threat to the UM defense than Iowa. Iowa's offense is anemic but Maryland can score in bunches.
January 12th, 2022 at 2:13 PM ^
as a long time season ticket holder, it's that non-conf home schedule which is the main reason i am giving up my tickets this year. in 2023 it's east carolina, unlv and bowling green. well, at least we currently have texas and oklahoma scheduled on the road in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
January 17th, 2022 at 4:47 AM ^
Go Blue
January 12th, 2022 at 11:25 AM ^
I swear to God, if we have to play at MSU two years in a row, I am going to kick a box full of kittens...
January 12th, 2022 at 11:28 AM ^
Holding the B10 hostage is a great plan. I'm hoping that not even the cold-hearted executives in the B10 offices will allow a box of kittens to get kicked.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:28 AM ^
MSU is home on 10/29.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:41 AM ^
Also, we will have a bye week the week before MSU...like they got this year.
Overall the schedule sets up nice for us again next year.
First true test will be on the road at Iowa. Championship game rematch. Then we go on the road the next week, get PSU at home...then our bye.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:40 AM ^
Sounds like something you would do just for fun anyway.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:51 AM ^
the kittens were being carried by their owners, who he snatched into the sewer and, you know, ate them. the kittens are getting off easy.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:57 AM ^
That's still not even remotely the worst thing you could be doing, considering you've spent the last few thousand years abducting and eating little kids.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:58 AM ^
Harbaugh has done better @MSU than at home against them. Not that I want that, it's just an interesting curiosity.
January 12th, 2022 at 1:51 PM ^
Why does FauxMo hate ? boxes?
January 12th, 2022 at 11:27 AM ^
Any chance they will force us to play another P5 non-conference game? Our current slate is absolutely horrible.
Colorado State, Hawaii and UConn are horrible and boring at the same time. At least play a Michigan MAC team which is slightly more interesting.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:29 AM ^
No. There are 9 conference games. Those are the non-conference games in 2022. Those won't change when the schedule is released.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:33 AM ^
If you look at FBSCHEDULES...
Everything between Iowa and OSU will be shuffled around.
I tried to share this was coming out and changing before the break and this board COOKED me for sharing stuff everyone already knows.
But here we are...
I will share that the home/away change from that site (which I learned the hard way, has already been announced), MSU will be at home and IU on the road.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:31 AM ^
That really is a terrible non-conference schedule. We won't have much to say when fans of other teams give us a hard time about it. Was it UCLA that Michigan was initially going to play in 2022?
January 12th, 2022 at 11:32 AM ^
If you're going to schedule Hawaii again, make it at Hawaii and at the end of the year like they did in 98.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:35 AM ^
Hawaii is in turmoil right now.
They don't have a stadium, they were playing at their practice field. Michigan would fill that up with just parents and staff who wanted to travel.
They need to knock the Aloha Stadium over and rebuild it.
They also had an abusive coach who ran like 16 guys out.
They're going to be awful next year.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:46 AM ^
Yes, sadly Hawaii is playing at a venue that allows an attendance smaller than many high school football fields. Their practice facilities are woeful. They can't find funding anywhere to fix the mess that is Aloha Stadium. And yes, their football program went from great in June Jones, to worse in Norm Chow, to slightly better in Nick Rolovich until he took off- now it's a dumpster fire. It's a shame that a place so beautiful has such a mess on their hands.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:48 AM ^
They hired Todd Graham -- what did they expect to happen? The guy is an abrasive, self-obsessed asshole.
January 12th, 2022 at 12:15 PM ^
I thought he had a really weird headset choice had when he coached at ASU. Literally looked like he was trying to be in a boy band.
Not sure if he's doing the same at Hawaii but it was just.....really odd.
January 12th, 2022 at 11:35 AM ^
didn't we play them out there in the mid to late '80's, also?
