so by your logic because he played he was fine? is that a medical opinion ?? because if thats my child i would be livid, its one thing that he knows whats going on and makes the decision, its another that he doesnt and makes a decision. he could have had fx ribs or internal bleeding or something worse, just because he got cortisone'd up does not mean he should have played and he should get better treatment

ha yeah thats the key, the…

ha yeah thats the key, the pipeline to florida and texas will dry up all of a sudden and they will stop getting so many 5 stars, osu won a national title in 2014, they signed one of their best classes ever they have been bounced out the playoffs consistently since then, if they have made it i suppose that winning is why they got the best class

i went to a small hbcu in…

i went to a small hbcu in tuscaloosa from 01-05 when alabama was pure ass, the foot ball players were all riding around in new tahoes and suburbans or benzs, it was a well known secret that check your shoes after a game because boosters would slide you bread if you had a good game. this one LB that some of the boys from miami on campus knew, came on campus in a fully loaded mustang with diamonds in the rims, i continue to see the money spent on alabama players because i do a podcast with an alabama alum and i know several people that still live in alabama, they pay for players period, they may not need to for every player that signs up, but rest assured they pay for the talent that does not choose up immediatly, and if you need any other proof how did they manage to get the number one recruiting class sabans second year their following an abysmal 2007 including losing to ulm ???

their talent is a lot better…

their talent is a lot better than ours we are not in the same building with star power

nah, that shit dont matter,…

nah, that shit dont matter, money matters, because, at one point lsu had a propensity for not attracting the best players in louisiana because they knew they were not that good, and highly racist nick changed all that, by convincing kids to stay home(read money) he came to alabama and his first real recruiting cycle they had the number one recruiting class, that was after losing to ulm and coming off probation, you know why (read money) unc is gettign top notch talent now you know why...it isnt because brown is selling kids on the Majesty of chap hill or their rich history of national chips. hes paying players period, if we want the talent you pay, then when you start winning you will get some players just because they want to buy in and be down, then all you have to do is pay for that top 5% of talent that will change the game, fellas kids from texas aint showing up in columbus for the fuckin thurman burgers and the great housing market, either we start paying or we become real comfortable with the level of play we are seeing give or take a couple wins or losses

division has no baring on…

division has no baring on our outcomes, and alabama could play non top in any conference and mop them teams up, it comes down to getting high ranking talent and that part we not getting, ND has figured a way to pay for talent, and will make exceptions for admissions, the powers to be at michigan have to decide are we an academic institution or a factory

Because If the coaches are…

Because If the coaches are racist they are smart enough to not show it because they know they need black players to win, I’ll go to my grave saying Steve spurrier was racist

They probably didn’t see it…

They probably didn’t see it or notice, but they interviewed several current and former players and the general consensus was it was some shitty attitudes and culture towards the black players at Iowa from Kirk and the coaching staff, but fuck him and Iowa as an institution and record label,  for keeping him

They just lost a 3 star…

They just lost a 3 star corner

It sounds so simple on this…

It sounds so simple on this board but I’m sure it’s a bit more complicated than that, the biggest issue i saw was lack of speed on the edge

I watched them double team…

I watched them double team him and wino with no push up the gut from our DT’s, i also watched Gary over pursue around the edge and allow the qb to break contain multiple plays, having a 5 star who sticks to the scheme and stay disciplined is what we needed, and he needed to bump inside, so if they did double him then we would get one on one with our edge rushers

A little late, but had a…

A little late, but had a seminar in Baton Rouge, so some good chicken wings and soul food and i drank some Moët and Johnny Walker Gold label

Having our best class and…

Having our best class and number one class are two worlds apart, that 08 Bama class included some names that are still playing on sundays at a high level, so it goes in the issue at hand, the 5 stars we got were fringe players versus can’t miss prospects who needed a little more coaching up than physical gifts, and having the luxury of lining them next to other 4-5 star recruits as well, i stated my issues with peppers and dpj mishandling, Garys issues were on him, he had the ability to take over any game, he also got double and triple teamed, but there was plenty of times he was on on one and got no penetration or if he did he rushed himself out of the play with bad technique and rush angle, also he would have been a hell of a DT, or mix bag rusher moving from inside to outside on certain plays, i think of the last osu game he kept rushing wide letting the qb escape the pocket, and that wasn’t when he was getting doubles, imagine if you moved him inside and he disrupted the pocket there instead of running himself out the play.  I’m sure Brown wasn’t like yeah Gary that’s cool, but he also couldn’t afford to bench one of your studs to make him get his mind right. I can agree we need more development, but kids go to schools every day that realistically are not going to make noise year in and out, we just aren’t taking the steps to get them,

What off the top of my head…

What off the top of my head 3 of those guys are out of state talent unless you are being sarcastic

I can agree, but kids show…

I can agree, but kids show up to programs every day, Alabama had the number 1 recruiting class following Sabans first year there, and at that point it had been a long time since the tide rolled, programs like psu, unc, Miami, Texas a&m, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, are all getting talent despite not being in the college football playoffs and not winning their own league title with the exception of psu, and i could name other programs, the reality is you want better talent you have to do what you have to, to get them in your doors,  just because you will win and possibly get a chip, and get drafted is not what’s convincing kids from Texas and Florida to come to jewel of the Midwest  Columbus (sarcasm) you can get drafted high anywhere if you ball out,

now with player development i can agree, i think peppers was an enigma that brown underutilized, he could have been our Troy polamalu (sp) but it’s a crime how DPJ got drafted 6th round to Cleveland, some of his issues was qb play, and offensive utilization, and some of it was he didn’t have that dog in him to dominate the field, but we failed him as a program.  But bottom line we have to do what’s necessary to get talent here

They weren’t exactly…

They weren’t exactly welcoming us as a people with opening arms at Michigan either but here we are

Not necessarily the best…

Not necessarily the best indicators of academic prowess, but Alabama has had 15 Rhode Scholars, while Michigan sits at 28, 15 is nothing to sneeze at, Alabama is no Harvard but they aren’t bottom of the barrel either

The point is to get in the…

The point is to get in the league, after that, The rest is on you, off the top of my head i can’t think of a current D line factory like that, but nicks gonna put weight on you (read muscle) he’s going to teach you nfl level D line play/thinking and you will have a chance to play against others you may see on Sunday, but bottom line as bad as we need DT’s this should not have happened, not sure what the solution is though

In other news, waters wet,…

In other news, waters wet, Kirk has had a pass by existing in the unknown shadows of Iowa, but he knew what was going on and what he condoned, no way your right hand man the highest paid s&c coach acts a way without your blessing, and you as the HC set the tone of your program period

Come on man you don’t pick…

Come on man you don’t pick Maryland over LSU

im not saying wins dont matter, but trust kids will sooner get on board with a lets build something and topple the big dog before they say, well damn michigan finally knocked off osu i guess ill go to A squared. lsu and georiga consistently bring in big names despite it not sniffing a chip since Les in 04, and georgia.... well 81 so kids will come despite your record if you are fully committed to getting them their

uga been boat raced for a while and they are snatching up recruits like the wicked witch snatched toto so.... its more than that, doesnt help but still

alabama's endowment may be…

alabama's endowment may be low but take it from me, I lived in tuscaloosa for 4 years during the shula era and went back for homecoming at my small hbcu recently and the tuscaloosa that is their now is night and day, from 01-05,  add to the fact that more and more kids went to alabama because of the run they had, and also knowing how important football is in alabama in particular tuscaloosa dont let that 1 bill fool you, they have the means, and more importantly the want to, to continue their dominance well into this new era. where I think we and other lower tier schools come into play, maybe we get that 13-25 guy that they may normally be wrapped up, because now he does not have to rot on a bench for 2-3 years and can start generating money

I just want us to recruit…

I just want us to recruit better, not sure what the answer is, but stuff has to change in order to keep up, and im sure its not as easy as get better players

I just want us to step our game up in this arms race

probably not going to say…

probably not going to say too much different from what has been said already,

slowing down chase, and tire him out, he's missed two games and probably two weeks of practice so he has probably lost some conditioning, if we run at him and force him to have to block shed, and chip him constantly on his way to the qb that may make his life miserable, and as much as he is a weapon, he does take a lot of snaps off the field

win individual wr match ups, we have to take advantage of our wr core size difference and take some deep shots and also throw some 50/50 balls and look for big catches or at least penalties in our favor

get that pass rush to fields often, but controlled rush, keep lane integrity so fields cant just run out the pocket

take away fields first and second read, force him to have to read the field he has trouble with that

dont get caught up in the window dressing of the zone read/rpo from osu to get you out of lanes

establish a run game to slow the tempo of the game and keep the offense off the field and cold

make big plays in special teams

im all for it if they can…

im all for it if they can make a great contribution to the defense, the thing about transferring is it can be for a myriad of reasons, to change over in coaching staff, or new philosophy, or despite them telling you you would get a fair shake at a position, you are not, you thought the campus and the school would be a good fit, but its not, the list goes on. So if a guy wants to come and it adds depth and allows our defense to do more then I'm here for it

 thats my major concern, I…

thats my major concern, I am worried about vacating the middle of the field because we face two qbs that can get some where and we will have to be very disciplined on rush lanes. but another great breakdown by seth

great read as usual, my only…

great read as usual, my only point that ill add, maybe we needed to switch up those stunts, because they were getting handled early on by msu, and if you are not disciplined in your assignment and not maintain your rush lane, then the qb can break out for big gains lewerke isnt  able to get some where like fields so that helped but he still took off too much for my liking and i can see that being a big issue in the osu game, they also were quick with their passes which neutralized our pass rush, i can see indiana using that to their advantage and Day adding too it. Shae needs to get more touch on his mid level passes, because he had opportunities to catch people in stride but they had to dive or really reach out for passes and that prevented big gains, but i wont complain f it we won on to indiana

we have but most wont see it…

we have but most wont see it that way, we live in a microwave society, that doesnt take the time to look at things logistically thankfully we have posters like space coyote and bronx blue who give great analysis and dont knee jerk react to every win and loss

another way to look at it,…

another way to look at it, even though according to your calculations what they receive is close to a 100k a year in compensation, they are putting their bodies on the line week in and out, going to multiple meetings, and workouts and rehab, struggling to do normal college kid stuff but also not being able to work for more money,  for a degree that may or may not net them a decent job assuming that they did not get a jock degree and even then probably not, while the school makes tens of millions of dollars off their back seems fair. Im not the moral police so I dont honestly care but to say that these kids are getting a fair shake, is BS of the highest level otherwise the kids wouldn't take the money

I like this breakdown, but Im just hoping this isnt the week that maryland puts it all together, they seem like they are due for one, but is it me or does it seem like canada was able to do more with less, but then you kind of pointed out locksleys issue is trying to walk before he crawls with his offense, and for like 300 millionth year maryland has a ton of players injured
