Shea Patterson appealing for a 5th year?

There are some rumbling of Shea trying to get eligibility for a 5th year. I was kind of looking forward to moving on from him this next season, not sure how I feel...

Whats your take on this? Maybe he builds on his last 3 1/2 games and becomes the qb we all though we had from day 1

The theory is that he would appeal to make it retroactive in his case.  A logical corollary would be that if the NCAA hears his appeal and grants it, that would effectively make it retroactive for everyone.

I have no idea if the rumor is true, but that's the rationale that's being given.  I think it would almost certainly not work, given that there are reports that the NCAA isn't happy about how the 4-game rule is being used (for example, players shutting it down when their team gets off to a bad start in the first 4 games), so if they're in the process of considering changes to the rule, it seems messy to make it retroactive.

If, and I use a very strong if, Patterson returned I would think it only affects McCaffrey. Could actually be looked at as a positive for Milton. Patterson would for sure.be in his last year and would be the odds on favorite to win the position the next year. Where if McCaffrey is the QB next year he could be there for several years.

Man, that's tough. He looked like a straight-up assassin in the last few games of the year, but what does that do for our QB room? I have to believe someone would transfer.

You are missing some context there.  There were more than a couple dropped passes and by the 4th quarter they changed the offense to try to score quickly, which allowed for much more pressure that significantly impacted his ability to complete passes.

We better get use to it as the Portal has changed everything. QB depth is probably a thing of the past for all CF teams. We're seeing it happen to OSU this year. They're extremely deep everywhere but at QB and that's a real problem for them right now when Matthew Baldwin transferred out when Fields came in. Fields has not been the same - against us and Wisconsin last night - since he sprained his knee but they really don't that Cardale Jones backup to turn to this time.  They'll get beat by Clemson if that knee doesn't heal up in the next three weeks. And it's not just OSU.

Poor guy. It's obvious that you're deeply afflicted by Shea Patterson failing you so personally over the past couple of seasons. It must be really hard to get out of bed with the torment going on inside your head. Thoughts and prayers, big guy.
