As we talk about the general…

As we talk about the general tone of posts at FSU, RCMB, Reddit, etc. and the assorted toxins that occasionally show up here, maybe some of us should step back and try to learn something from how Juwan carries himself in the public eye.  He doesn't throw players or coaches or opponents under the bus and carries himself in a professional and complimentary manner, to the point that he makes all of us proud that he's our coach.  We, as fans, appreciate seeing that in opponents blogs and commentaries.  Maybe, just maybe, we should try to emulate Juwan's approach.  Go Blue!

You all can pontificate over this ad infinitum but I could honestly care less over something that I have no control over.

Instead, it's New Years Eve and I am cooking up some ribs (get the Stubbs ready!) and opening a fine bottle of Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon in hopes that it will usher in a fine year ahead - not only for M but for all of you as well.  Cheers!

Cheers to SSA!  Nicely Done!

Teeba has a valid point. …

Teeba has a valid point.  Wasn't there a rumored "rift" between Dr. Blitz and Shoop early in the year that relegated Shoop to virtual coaching?  Shoop's contract would have been cheaper to eat than Don Brown's if "one of the 2 had to go".  I suspect Shoop is part of a co-DC arrangement for 2021.  Whether it's with Banks, Mason or someone else remains to be seen. Don Brown always presented himself as a class act.  Open, forthright and usually a good interview / presser.  If he really told recruits that he might not be here but to pursue the M experience, that says a lot about his character.  Time to get to work on building a new leadership team.

Double post.

Sam's got it.  Assemble a…

Sam's got it.  Assemble a team of coaches that works together as a cohesive unit to develop our players into solid, dependable and respected players who play the game with enthusiasm, heart and vigor.  Show me an invigorated team who know what they're doing and who play their positions well and I'll bet we see a team with great stats and a commendable W/L record.

In my humble opinion, the enthusiasm was non-existent this year and that starts with coaching.  I could care less what their names are.  We need a cohesive team of coaches that work together, collaborate, and put the best players on the field with the right game plans to become a dangerous team both offensively and defensively.

Anything less is unacceptable.

Full racks are definitely preferred.  Before I show myself out, I definitely concur with WCB above.  Low and slow makes a world of difference after liberal seasoning.  I put a little water in my pan to generate some steam but make sure the aluminum foil is sealed all the way around.  Sounds like a great dinner option for Saturday!

Thank you!

Thank you!

There was a great article a…

There was a great article a couple of weeks back (sorry can't remember the source) about Chaundee's transition from Wake Forest to Michigan.  In essence, he came in thinking he was in shape and ready to make an impression.  However, Camp Sanderson changed him - basically tore him down and built him back up so he would be better conditioned and ready to run at will without being gassed.  In the end he explained how happy he was to be a Wolverine and how impressed he's been with the entire team and facilities.  It shows in his on-court performance.

The Pine Club, a top 5 Steakhouse in America (Food Network), located in Dayton OH offers mail order steaks.  Highly recommend but, as others have said, they're not cheap.  They've been in business since 1947 and have received accolades from the New York Times, the Food Network, USA Today, Gourmet, and others.   https://thepineclub.com/

There's no difference…

There's no difference between a quarterback's pump fake toward a receiver or a fake spike - both can pull a defender and open up a passing lane and both are done with the quarterback's arm motion.

+1 for Fatty Patty.  Excuse my ignorance but had never heard that before and it fits oh so well.  Nicely done.

Hey it beats blabbering…

Hey it beats blabbering about COVID.  As a baseball fan who has been in fantasy baseball leagues for 32 years (long before fantasy leagues became the rage),  I appreciate Mize and Skubal being brought north.  At this juncture, I'd say that Skubal is a little ahead of Mize but there's no doubt they have the talent to make it in the bigs.  Both need AAA seasoning but the time spent in Detroit will help them realize they have more work to do to improve their repertoire.  More often than not, a player's first "cup of coffee" is a wake-up call.  Chalk it up to experience.  Learn from it.  Make changes to improve and become more consistent.  If they do that, they'll be just fine.

Met Desmond at an Alum event…

Met Desmond at an Alum event in Chicago a few years back.  Such a great ambassador to M and a real stand-up guy.  Was supposed to be at the Gala for 40 minutes.  Was there for hours and was always available to talk, take pictures etc.  Aside from that aspect, these qualities are evident when he's on camera.  Always insightful, communicates well and has a "stage presence" while on set.  At a time when ESPN is ridding themselves of other "personalities", it's nice to see that Desmond will be around for years to come.  Nicely done #21!  You've earned it and you deserve it.  Go Blue!

Like many previous posts,…

Like many previous posts, Manny's in Minneapolis gets my top vote.

The Pine Club in Dayton, OH gets my second shout-out.  They do not accept credit cards but will set you up with a house charge and then mail you an invoice at the end of the month.  That being said, this place is typically one of the top 10 steakhouses annually in a number of listings.

The Royal Eagle in Harper…

A great overall experience at the Royal Eagle in Harper Woods, at the St. Sabbas Monastery.  Dinners are $75 pp and goes directly to the Russian / Macedonian Orthodox Monastery, with the waitresses (in authentic garb) working for tips.  5 course menu typically includes a focused variety of Russian / Eastern European dishes (Chicken Paprikash, Beef Stroganoff and Beef Wellington among others). No alcohol, but you can bring your own wine without a corkage fee. Dinner is available only on Thursday evenings, by reservation only.  Usually booked 3 months in advance.  Nestled in the middle of a residential area, this place is frequently found on several "hidden gems" listings.  Well worth the visit.

Absolutely going to the office.  Small company with approx 30 employees.  Complete segregation from public.  Staff have choice to come in or take PTO.  Almost everyone is in the office if healthy.  We stress healthiness - but also practice distancing and cleanliness.  Have reinforced the importance of keeping lights on as a means of saving our company.  We will be open as long as the government allows us to remain open.

I agree.  JH is not one to call out a player publicly but he had to be seething with the number of errant throws from his QB.  Accuracy level was waaaaayyyyy off.  Here's hoping that one of our guys will have that blend of arm strength, vision and accuracy next fall.  We can always hope because hope springs eternal, right?

They'll trade down to re-enact their success from 1975. I can hear Pete Rozelle right now:  "...and with the 13th pick in the 1975 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select Lynn Boden, G, South Dakota State."  The more things change, the more they stay the same.  The Honolulu Blew Its.

Community Car Wash - was there last week.  Got the last spot at 8:45 am.  Cost is $30.  They have bathrooms (clean) with running water.  If coming from State Street / I-94, enter off of Industrial Drive.  Lucky's Market is right across the street - good place for forgotten food and extra beer.  It's our go-to tailgate spot - highly recommend.

WD - you took he comment right out of my mouth.  Several comments have been made on prior telecasts about how it is harder to be successful running in a goal line situation while using a spread.  Maybe going back to Shea under center with Mason and ZC (or whomever) in the backfield would be a nice change of pace.  Not on film (this year).  From there either smashmouth or a flip to Nico or a naked bootleg.  Pick your option.

My 3rd daughter is living proof that snips can, indeed, grow back.  Dr. said that chances of growing back tubular scar tissue was about the same as winning the lottery.  That being said, I wouldn't trade my daughter for all the money in the world.  Sometimes things happen for a reason.  She's living proof of that.  I won the lottery in a different way.  Oh - and, yes, I had the procedure done a second time.  It was a non-event.

It was a Freep article from yesterday.  Not gonna post the link, just the following quote:

"We really had an outstanding year and a terrible week," Brown said. "If you let it linger, then it can impact performance moving forward against a really good Florida team.

"So we've got to move on. ... (It was a) tough deal. Man up. Move on."

Like many, I've read a…

Like many, I've read a variety of articles over the past month, culminating with Don Brown's admission that the week of practice leading up to the OSU game was a terrible week of practice.  Couple that with players upset with end-of-season awards (or lack thereof) and the transfers, etc., I get the feeling that The Team The Team The Team was a fractured group a month ago.  Let's hope that those who remain are focused, energized and determined to relentlessly pursue a victory on Saturday.  Naysayers be damned.  Let's win this one with great performances in all three phases of the game.  Go Blue!

Let's not forget that with…

Let's not forget that with the evaporation of recruiting sites and their respective staff(s) that many kids who may have received high national accolades in the past could very well be lower in the overall rankings this year.  Give our coaching staff some credit for looking at tapes and truly scouting players regardless of their star status.  Even with the unexpected transfers, we pulled in nice prospects that fill positions of need.  With some S&C time and development time, I'm confident we will look back at this class as a solid and well-rounded class that will advance the upward trajectory of the football program.  Here's to these young men showing what they can do!  Go Blue.

I agree with both the good…

I agree with both the good Dr and MGrowOld - an imposing DL is the catalyst for creating havoc and our DL was average ever since Rashan went down with his shoulder.  That being said, it was well known that OSU's offense throughout the year was based on quick crossing routes and YAC.  We didn't have a coverage solution for that.

Looking for a bar…

Looking for a bar recommendation in Greenville, SC.  Yeah, I know - heart of $EC country but seems only M bars are in Columbia and Hilton Head.  Any help would be appreciated.  Go Blue!

This one pretty much matches…

This one pretty much matches my thoughts.  Shea and the offense start out jittery and we try to pound the rock to settle the jitters.  ND's DL is tough to run on, keeping the score low early-on.  Punt ST gives ND some good field position.  Finally DPJ and Zentry get open and Shea hits them in stride.  Defense plays tough throughout.  M 24, ND 13.

Agreed.  The TEAM, the TEAM,…

Agreed.  The TEAM, the TEAM, the TEAM.  Come focused and ready to play at the highest level every game.
