OT - Lions currently picking 3rd

Submitted by Yessir on December 22nd, 2019 at 7:36 PM

Lions currently picking 3rd.

We need Skins to beat cowboys next week and lose to pack to move to 2nd pick.

Not sure if true but have read talent kinda sorta drops off after top 2.

I cant believe I’m still a Lions fan but I swear I will see a title before I die...I hope.

Talent definitely does not drop off after two, however a “sure thing” QB and pass rusher should be off the board then.

if Burrow and Young are gone, it may be worth considering dropping down for whoever wants Tua badly, or taking Tua ourselves(I know we have a ton of other issues).

Im with ya.  He bodied a lot of qbs that didn't have great o lines.  Wisconsin kind of being the exception,  but honestly,  they really were not "great". It really surprised me that he had no meaningful impact on the game this year. Hire mutch of that was play calling away from him,  or how much of that was Michigan's o line actually being good? How much of that was him being a little overrated? Great player, yes.  Heisman winner? No.

I wouldn’t touch Tua.  With that injury who knows if he ever plays at a high level again. And even without the injury I don’t know that I’d spend a top 5 pick on him.  With those receivers, running game and O line a lot of college QBs would look very good.

In that case I’d trade up to 2 and take whichever is still available.  Or if someone was desperate for Tua consider  trading down.

Lions will screw it up either way...

If you can drop down and get Tua (assuming he shows he's healthy), he's absolutely worth stashing until you move on from Stafford. But would have to be a pick in the 20s and it doesn't look like he'll be around then. You also get the 5th year option by taking him in the 1st.

Also, some mocks have the Redskins passing on Chase Young. If they were to do that...you absolutely take Young at #3.

If not, you trade down just a spot or two and take Okudah. Take that extra pick.

#3 pick is worth 2200 points, #4 is worth 1800.

The #50 pick is worth #400 points. If you can go down a spot, get Okudah and pickup a mid/late 2nd rounder? You ABSOLUTELY do that deal.

Let's say Detroit gets #3 and Miami gets #4.

Miami is hell bent on getting Tua, where Ryan Fitzpatrick is under contract for next year and they can sit him for a year. Which is not far fetched, Tua is still #3 on Kiper's "Big Board" and a top 10 pick in most mocks. They can't risk Detroit trading the pick to anyone else.

So Miami gives you their #4 for #3 to take Tua. Miami also gives Detroit their late 2nd rounder that they got from New Orleans + a 5th rounder this year and a 3rd rounder in the 2021 draft.

Draft Okudah with #4, Linebacker Dylan Moses or Kenneth Murray at the top of the 2nd round, Ben Bredeson with the Miami/NO 2nd round pick.

Huge amounts of offensive talent coming out this year.  One of the better overall drafts in the past 10 years.  If everyone comes out that should.

Lions looked great the first qtr of season...their lines on both sides looked excellent.  Then was as if the wheels came off.

I saw some stat where we were decimated with injuries this year.  I knew it was bad but it was holy cow bad.

I know injuries are a part of the game, but at some point it can really send the season south.

Lions can do that on their own.  They don’t need help.

They also lost their nearly 30 million a year qb, a guy who has the highest percentage of a teams salary cap tied to him this year in NFL AND

Replaced him with a rookie free agent at the most important in football. Probably no bigger drop off possible in the NFL than going from Stafford to Blough

Best thing to happen to the Lions this year was the fact they lost every game after Stafford went out as there was no way this team was doing anything meaningful without him

I hope they do the Patriots way and trade down to get a ton more picks.  Getting Chase Young would be great, but there is a lot of data showing the teams who have the most picks overall tend to fare the best.  We need players, let's get them.

I put my money on death first.  The arrogance from the silver spoon do-nothing Fords, down through the idiot arrogant living off other's success GM, ditto possible rapist coach is astounding.  They are all losers.  They are what they are.

Maybe that could be a twilight zone episode.

”maize and blue af was a sports fan with one wish, to see his favorite football team win the ‘big game’ before he died...”

cut to the final scene of him being inhumanely kept alive in an iron lung being forced to watch super bowl CC where the 2-year old franchise, Mumbai Cobras have defeated the South Africa Lions 56-55.

Redskins have drafted  Allen, Payne, and Sweat in the first round the last 3-4 years.  They also gave Mat Ianitis a long term deal and still have Kerrigan on the roster.  They won’t draft Young especially after Haskins got killed today and have a huge need at LT.

if they draft another DLineman at 2 they are dumber then the Lions.  Skins will trade out most likely to a QB needy team.  Lions should get Young at 3 but I have questions about him showing up in big games right now.

They will draft the wrong guy 9/10 times.  Once a generation they luck into a HOF...and then he retires early 'cause he can't stomach the ineptitude.
