OSU knows they will still have a top program without Meyer. OSU football is much bigger that its coach. He would leaving a team stocked with talent and they will find a highly regarded replacement.
MSU football without Dantonio is a scary prospect for MSU.
I think you are generally right that OSU is a major name brand that will always have potential to be a contender for the national title. However, remember that Fickle led a team full of talent to a 6-7 (3-5 B1G) record. OSU went 12-1 in 2010 and 12-0 in 2012 - so clearly there was talent on that team.
OSU doesn't have an extremely difficult schedule, but don't be shocked if OSU goes 8-4 if Meyer is out.
Sure, maybe one sub-par season of turmoil and uncertainty. But OSU will be well set up for the next coach and they will get a very good one. That one bad year obviously didn't hurt them very much.
walton wasn't exposed to selfies of his victim as McMurphy so astutely posted.
Travis Walton is a non-story. MSU fans say that girl punched herself in the face.
List of coaches they’d make a run at would have to include Tom Herman and Bob Stoops.
Outside of those two there really isn’t a home run hire taking a season off for “heart” issues or anything.
I suppose they could try and go after a coach like Chip Kelly. They’d probably at least call Lincoln Riley.
Other than that you really start throwing names out there like... Jeff Brohm? Internal hire?
Wouldn't it be some shit if they hired Jim Tressel again? I wouldn't put it past them.
Of course Vince Lombardi will get resurrected, and promptly lead them to 6 straight national titles. Such is the luck with OSU.
They'll fall up. If possible
OSU is already reaching out to Bill Belichick.
It would be just our luck that he takes the job just to spite Brady.
I will feel cheated if U of M beats OSU this year without Meyer.
They obviously didn't feel cheated when they pounded us with RR and Hoke. I will afford them the same courtesy in return.
I would hate that Harbaugh would have never had a fair shot at beating Meyer.
I wont give a fuck. There will be no asterisks when Harbaugh brings a national championship to Ann Arbor. This will be Urban Meyers legacy. Harbaugh will be known as the guy that saved Michigan football and didnt trust poultry.

This. I would be happy beating 6-5 OSU teams for the next 20 years as well as 11-0 OSU teams.
If we beat them, I think I'll find a way to cope with that no matter who is their coach.
I will feel cheated if there is no accountability.
I assume Mork takes over at OSU opening the door at MSU for Purple Face which opens the door at ND for Urbz.
If Urban truly gets canned for this, his coaching days are over. And he might be cool with not coaching again.
unfortunately, I think he'll coach again. people love to forgive. (i.e. Bobby Petrino)
OSU ain’t Louisville! They can find a good coach if need be.
Dantonio
Atleast with Ryan Day we can fire up the Stanford Harbaugh vs Oregon tape and analysis. Stoops or Carroll make sense for osu continuing to roll out great coaches, not sure if Carroll has any more NCAA penalties that still apply. But honestly I still give Urban a 40% shot he’s back
Bring in the guy who turned a blind eye to Joe Mixon?
Gene Smith would be crucified.
Who does Michigan get if he's gone?
Zach Harrison.
Brady Hoke.
Also...does this shake loose any potential recruits in 2019?
Since I'm here, a meta comment:
I was just over on 11 Warriors.
I like the way comments display. Everything is clearly blocked out by poster and replies are neatly lined up below the main comment.
My first thought is that they won't get Zach Harrison.

Last time this happened Michigan got...Kyle Kalis!
Great!
Ole Miss
Southern Cal
Florida Atlantic(offensive coordinator for Lane?)
No way. He's going to have texas back in a big way this year.
Matt Campbell from Iowa St is the name being dropped like crazy on the r/CFB Reddit as the most likely replacement
Grew up in Ohio. Coached at Bowling Green and Toledo. MAC coach of the year. Big 12 coach of the year. Seems like a reasonable choice.
Somebody good! They always luck up into a great coach sitting on the sidelines
I dunno, Kyle Whittingham.
I see stoops mentioned, good. He's past his prime. Carroll.... ha, no chance. Dude is riddled with controversy, and that makes him a good choice to replace meyer? Cmon now! People actually saying mork... lol. Ohio state can do so much better. There's a reason they made ryan day the head coach. If they don't clean house, he very well may get it. He's extremely well regarded in the industry. Tom hermann ain't coming. He has no ties to ohio state outside of Being an assistant under urbz. Ohio state will get who they want. My guess, in order... brohm, moorehead, day.
There is not a single homerun in your list, but it's the most reasonable list ive seen. This is the beginning of our run. August 1st, 2018; a day that will live in infamy for those bastards.

Decided schematic advantage
Decided to pick up 97.1 theFan in C’bus on tunein app on my ride home. Bill Bender tSN was on at 7:30 saying ‘hate to speculate on what’s next before they determine Meyer’s fate, but these are who would be on OSUs radar’. Listening to the Buckeye Show host is like watching a worm drown in a puddle.
I thought Stoops was legit done with coaching. I mean, why step down from a great program like Oklahoma if you are just going to pick the stress back up from a slightly bigger program? Doesn't make sense to me.
Because people can't comprehend the idea that a coach wants to do other things in his life than coach football. Stoops dad died coaching on the sidelines when he was a similar age to Stoops. He has money, kids, accomplished everything you can accomplish in football, and is considered a hero in Oklahoma/CFB world. He has more than enough reasons to transition from coaching.
Why step down from a great program like Florida if you're going to pick the stress back up at Ohio State?
My first guess didn't show up on the 1st page:
Dabo
Unlikely. He's got a good thing going at Clemson, and has already proven he can beat the big dogs with his (impressively built) ACC juggernaut.
More I think about it the more I think they clean house if all is true.
1. Lots of assistants supposedly were in a position to know. And they kept mouths shut.
2. And I don't mean to be political. #metoo has changed the culture. People are aware more than ever of abuse. It would be a PR nightmare if someone on staff who knew and did nothing got the job, and worse, it would be condoning such behavior.
I think they would clean house and go far outside. And somebody clean, with no abuse related or recruiting violations in background. And preferably someone with Ohio connections.
Matt Campbell comes to mind.
Kiffin?
