What other game(s) will you watch this weekend?

Submitted by Amazinblu on November 21st, 2022 at 11:41 AM

There's one game that will - deservedly - capture a LOT of attention this weekend - and, as we all know, it's The Game - kicking off at noon EST on Saturday on Fox.   But, there are other games that may garner some attention too.

1. On Friday, an NC State Wolfpack win over Tar Heels would be a great complement to Thanksgiving Day leftovers...

2. South Carolina at Clemson.  Few games this past weekend provided more pleasure than watching South Carolina play against Tennessee.  Hoping that squad from Columbia can bring the same effort and results this weekend.  (This game is being played the same time as The Game.)

3. Iowa State at TCU.  Sun Tzu applies - "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" - let's see if the Cyclones can find a way to win.

4. LSU at A&M.  The 12th Man and Jimbo leading the Aggies to their fifth win of the season, would be great to see.

5. ND at USC - Saturday evening.  I'm no fan of the Irish, but - would be "quite ok" with an Irish win.  Sun Tzu - the greater enemy in this competition is USC.

What will you be watching - and what outcome(s) might you prefer?

I'll watch a couple, I suppose.

Watching a lot of World Cup. If Saturday goes badly I may major in it, fewer reminders of what went wrong. If Saturday goes well I may try to watch every football game that's on to try to hear random announcers talking about it.

Agreed. It all depends on the big one.

A loss would completely neuter my college football fandom, unless somehow we still manage a playoff bid, which I doubt.

When we win, I will be prouder than a two-peckered-puppy and will bask in every sunny second of football I can until the priapism wanes.

Like every weekend, if Michigan wins I will most likely watch as many other games as I can. If they lose however, I will probably not watch anything else as I am usually not in the mood at that point! Thankfully it has been a good year for me to catch lots of other games on!

I won't see a single play of the SCar-Clemson game if its on opposite of The Game.  At least until I check the highlights of USC's (NTUSC) win later in the day!

Would also like to watch some of A&M trying to play like a functional team, but I don't really want to watch Crawdad Kelly's team beating the snot out of them.  Two uglies don't make a pretty...

The wife will be watching 48 Hours or some other such drivel in the bedroom Saturday evening again, alone.  Because I'll be watching ND-USC...

EDIT:  After reading several other posters hedging bets ("if..."), I will say that I EXPECT a win.  So there...  (Now go deliver it, JJ!)

I'll be rooting for TCU and USC to win out, as well as ourselves and Georgia, so that two SEC teams don't (hopefully) get into the CFP. I'm hoping a one-loss PAC champ in USC will be able to eek out that fourth spot over a two-loss Bama, one-loss Ohio, or a one-loss Clemson. I would imagine that USC would be the no-brainer, but you never know with the SEC and somewhat B1G bias.

Not sure how we beat Georgia, but a matchup vs TCU in the semis should be very winnable.

Go Blue, Fuck Ohio.

After Michigan beats OSU then I'll be rooting for TCU and USC.  Nothing to do with the SEC, but to keep OSU from backing in.

(I think LSU will be in if they win out, regardless of what everyone else does).

If somehow the refs allow OSU to win, then we are 100% rooting against TCU and USC.  Why would we root for something not in our best interest just because of some weird SEC inferiority complex?

TCU has had a good season but I don't think it will end well for them if they make the playoffs. You have to be elite in the trenches on both sides if you're going to win a NC. Big 12 defenses just never seem to hold up when the meet an elite SEC or Big 10 team.

I'll keep and eye on NE @ IA to see if the Hawkeyes can pull it off and take the B1G West. This SC team is very capable of beating Clemson. Does the Clemson defense neutralize the Gamecocks' offense? Lots of intrigue.

The Game is 99.9% of my attention on Saturday. A big Meeechigan victory will take care of anything else in the CFP rankings.

May not watch any other then on Thursday. and the Game.  Heading to C-bus on Friday and going to the game Saturday.  Hope to be celebrating Saturday night.

Other than The Game, I'll be watching at least part of the Nebraska @ Iowa game Friday, hoping to see an upset.

On Thursday I'll be watching the turkey Loins.

I'll also watch as much as possible of the MHSAA Division 6 championship game Friday as I can (between my prep alma mater GR West Catholic and Negaunee), plus bits of the other games in the hope of finding a barn-burner of a final.

Then post-game Saturday I imagine I'll be celebrating here (or helping prevent a total meltdown here on the board) and working on plans for a weekend in Indianapolis.

Iowa versus Nebraska - amazingly Iowa could win the BigTen West.

Lost in the weekend was their win over Minnesota where the Gophers amassed 399 yards of total offense (versus 280) and ran for 312 yards (against 59 by Iowa). That is a rushing differential of over 250 yards YET they lost. They did give up a fumble and interception and the opportunistic Iowa defense helped set up the anemic Iowa offense to win the game.

The narrative all season seems to have been how the stout Iowa defense has made up for the ills of nepotism but after that game, it is clear that there is some Children of the Corn evil deity with some pact out there assisting the Hawkeyes. :)

The game does take all three phases, but somehow the Iowa D is dragging that offense with them despite its ineptness.

My Iowa friend is high on the winning streak and probability of winning the West to talk himself into thinking Iowa will have a chance in Indy.  I have tried to gently remind him the win streak for Iowa will have all been against other B1G West teams that are similarly dysfunctional and fatally flawed, but he won’t hear it.

If South Carolina could take down another one loss top 10 team, we might owe them for a probable spot in the playoff (which they might have already done enough for, pending the nature our game and USC).

If Michigan wins, I will be rooting for TCU, PSU, and USC.

If Michigan loses, I will turn off the TV, make dinner, then continue reading the excellent book "The Three Body Problem".

Iowa vs Nebraska on Friday

Florida vs Florida State on Friday

Normally I’d be done watching football for the day if UM loses, but since their CFP hopes will still technically be alive even if they lose I’ll probably find myself watching the ISU vs TCU and ND vs USC games anyway.  If UM wins, I’ll cheer for TCU and USC to ice OSU out.

If it happens, would love to watch UVA at VT. I hope they do play it. Would be extremely difficult to focus on a football game during this time, but could also go a long way to healing and would be a totally different feel than your typical rivalry game. Tech came out last week with a UVA flag alongside their normal flags to lead the team onto the field. I can’t imagine how much #VirginiaStrong camaraderie there would be if they decided to go ahead and play. Would be very emotional for everyone involved and I hope we get to experience it.

Heresy! There are no other games!

That being said, I'm pulling for Michigan, TCU, Clemson and USC to win out. Having 4 other conference champs with 0 or 1 loss should make it impossible for the committee to put two SEC teams into the playoffs.

I've always been a sucker for the Egg Bowls on Thanksgiving night and those Black Friday corn battles between Iowa and Nebraska.

And if we win, I'll definitely tune in to ND-USC.

If we lose though, I'll be too depressed to watch another college football game until New Year's Day.

Believe it or not; probably none, unless you count the Lions loss.

Friday I'll put up Christmas lights. After the Game, I'll either be so disgusted I won't watch anything else, or I'll be so happy, I'll watch it again.

I'll bite.

If Michigan wins I'll tune into MSU vs PSU for a good o'l fashion Sparty non-bowl Schadenfreude and give two shits less of what happens in the other games.

If Michigan does not win, USC vs ND for sure as a USC loss is likely the only possible way to get to the CFP with one loss. TCU will take ISU to the woodshed.

If Michigan loses, probably won't watch any other games at all.

If Michigan wins, I probably won't watch any other games at all. Because I will be too busy watching all of the highlights over, and over, and over again until my wife tells me "Perkis, It's 2:30 in the morning, and we have to be up in four hours for an eight hour drive. Put the f*****g iPad away and go to bed.

if michigan loses in heartbreaking fashion or by the biased toss of a refs flag, i will disavow knowledge of this game played with the oblong leather ball.

anything else and i will keep going. don't many of you feel a bit numb at this point? i will feel numb if blake or mike morris appear in casts in columbus. that sounds like our luck.
