We just have to acknowledge they are a better team.
We got a fair whistle. Shot and defended reasonably well.
They just wore us down.
Oddly, I believe getting worn down usually shows up on defense, but for us, it seems to show up on offense where we stop cutting and settle for jump shots too much.
Good win Lurking Spartan. Very impressive season.
Did you rape anyone?
No. We have to acknowledge that Poole is a 15 yr old playing. Bench his ass till next yr. He never learns from his boners no matter how many times
We win if JB plays Matthews and Livers instead of Jordan Poole. He’s terrible and the team will be better if he leaves or comes off the bench.
Agreed. Poole is awful. Point blank. Iggy isn't that much better. I've never seen a more cocky duo who haven't won shit as the main players on the team nevertheless go 0-3 against MSU. Jokes
Ok let’s come down with this Iggy is awful hot takes cuz they are fucking scorching. Did you happen to watch the first ten minutes of the game? Where he was the only one who could score? If it weren’t for him we would’ve been in a huge hole much earlier. Just shows that he’s a freshman playing defense in intense rivalry games sometimes
Iggy is actually much better. He’s a better scorer and carried our offense in this game. He’s also a freshman, AND he is playing stupidly out of position as a 4. He’s matching up with guys far bigger on a nightly basis without much college S&C.
Smarter at least.
10- 0 close out. Once they slapped the floor, I knew it was over.
Slapping the floor is now a bait for the team to resort to terrible decisions.
Bielein never adjusted to stop mcquaid
Or the guys just never executed his adjustments
Look, there is a reason the Big 10 hasn't won a title in two decades. They cater to a coach who promotes rape and clutches and grabs. Refs call a BS call and let McQuaid shoot three when he committed a charge. Big 10 cannot protect Izzo in March that's why they always get smoked early in the tourney.
You could maybe say it wasn’t a shot attempt, but you are drunk AF if you think that was a charge.
How was that a shot attempt? The problem with this game is that the refs seemed to step in. Maybe it’s because MSU started playing better and we were worn down or something, but it’s hard to not think the result might have been different if the refs had called even halves.
Agree. That's not a charge, it's a floor foul on Poole. McQuade probably makes both ends of the 1 and 1, not 3 shots. They gave MSU a point.
More bold, makes for a better point.
Also, if you think that is obviously a good call, you are ____ "AF" as you say.
Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the MGo on mobile which decides for you whether you will post bold or not.
As far as the foul goes, it was a good call in that it was as obvious a foul as happened all game.
It is debatable whether it was a shooting foul, but at worse that cost one point.
Yeah, one point and MOMENTUM. We had a 5-point lead at that point. Okay to give up a 2-point bucket but not a three. I cannot believe I have to keep seeing your pathetic spineless responses to all these posts jbrandimore. Tell us more about yourself jbrandimore. Which Walmart are you greeting at these days? I'd like to spit in my hand before I shake yours at the door.
Please help me understand — the B1G caters to us during the conference season (because, “reasons”), and once we’re in the dance we falter without their protection but the rest of the league has failed to win a title because... ?
There’s no plausible scenario in which you attended and graduated from Michigan.
They're smarter
Which makes them better.
They're smarter because they're older. It will come.
Agree. People saying we’re “even” are slappies. You don’t lose 3 in 3 weeks to your equal. We don’t have any killers on our team. Killers kill.
We could 100 times straight to them and we would still be the better team. That's how it works
We choked big time. Basically a single posession game and we didn’t score for the last 2 minutes.
Agree. Do you know why MSU is the better team? It's clear as day. They have an offensive go to player at the end of the game. UM doesn't. It's by committee. Put Derrick Walton on this team then UM wins this game.
UM just doesn't have the one closer at the end.
Oh we have a closer; he took our last two shots. He just sucks.
Actually, I think you nailed it. We had so many sad offensive possessions at the end, Winston just took the ball and eventually made a play. We don’t have anyone who can do that.
We did not get a fair whistle when it counted, no call on pooles last shot, that ball was also not off teske so it should’ve been Michigan with a final shot to try and win, the refs completely screwed us in the final couple possessions
Yep. I'm not one to blame every loss on the officiating, but in this case there's some warrant to it.
Won't matter. Sparty is out three of their best players. They won't go far in the brackets.
The call that surprised me was the three point “shot” by McQuaid. That looked like an NBA call, not one I expected to be made in college. He hit him after the fake and before he ever let the ball half-heartedly go. I didn’t think they called that sort of fake shot in college.
That was a bogus call. As was the out of bounds call near the end. The Spartan CLEARLY touches the ball last.
Same script. UM doesn't have the quality shooting or depth necessary to grind out close games. That's why we shouldn't be surprised if they go down early in March madness.
They lost twice to Indiana and once to Illinois, neither of which are near being top teams.
No, the refs hosed parts of this game.
Fair whistle, my ass. McQuaid was not shooting when he was fouled. Should have just been a 1-and-1. And they didn’t call a bunch of fouls in the 2nd half, leading to what happened. Fuck off.
Not only wasn't shooting, he traveled hunting contact because he picked up his pivot foot without dribbling. That said, Jordan Poole need to learn how to close out without leaving his feet.
Up 13 and jacking bad 3's. That's how you lose. A real team puts an opponent away when they are down
If JB could reel in Poole and Iggy from playing hero ball all game, the offense might make a few morw buckets.
He hasn't reeled them in by now. It won't happen. Needs to bench their asses to get the message across or go Izzo to get the point.
This team is going nowhere with Poole getting that many minutes. He was horrific on both ends of the floor.
Held them to 62 points and lost.
13 point second half lead and lost.
Reloading year or not, that's a pathetic way to end the season.
I refuse to acknowledge any such thing.
And Winston clearly fouled Poole on his 3 point attempt...
True, but don't give up a 13 point lead to let it even get to that point.
Refs were instrumental in the comeback. Izzo gets owned in March but he owns weak local refs.
I hate this argument like it’s ok to get screwed by refs if you play bad. It’s bulls**t.
He could also have tried to make the shot instead of just flicking it up after minimal contact.
Criminal enabler who bails out players for sexual assault vs. an ethical coach who does things right?
Beilein wasn't the one under scrutiny last January for (still pending) controversial sweeping of things under the rug.
Hmm... no contest there.
Better human JB.
Izzo is the better coach.
