We just have to acknowledge they are a better team.

We got a fair whistle. Shot and defended reasonably well.

They just wore us down.

Oddly, I believe getting worn down usually shows up on defense, but for us, it seems to show up on offense where we stop cutting and settle for jump shots too much.

They weren't better. They were the benefactors of some huge calls at the most critical points of the game and used those to capture an extremely narrow win.

-- Winston gets a phantom call on a driving layup. Complete a 3-point play. +1 to MSU by refs.

-- No reach-in foul that was called on UM. Resulted in two FT's for MSU. +2 to MSU by refs.

-- Non-shooting fall on McQuaid. Best-case 1&1. Lost at least a point there. +1 to MSU by refs.

-- No irrefutable video evidence the ball was off Teske. Still had a chance to tie or lead.

-- Winston intentionally fouls Poole who jacks a shot because he knows he's being fouled and refs don't call it. Still had a chance to tie or lead.

Michigan leads most of the game. MSU was not the better team today, nor are they the better team.  Coming into the game, MSU had a +33 FT advantage. And this final game was decided by HUGE calls that all went MSU's way right at the end.

To you Jbrandimore, this means "clearly MSU is the better team, let's take our hats off." To UM fans with a spine -- which you do not have -- we would like to see how the outcomes might have changed if we were not on the other end of a bunch of key officiating decisions that went MSU's way. But it makes you feel better, and mightier, and morally more correct -- like the bigger man -- doesn't it Jbrandimore, for coming on your own team's blog and announcing that MSU is better than us? You feel better about yourself don't you? Otherwise, why else make the comment? Unless you're troll. I don't think you are. I just think you're a giant, spineless pussy. And that's okay. To appreciate winners in life, you must have losers like yourself. That's how the cookie crumbles.

Absolutely spot on. There is a huge contingent of this fan base that seems to feel better if they convince themselves that the players deserved to lose instead of getting absolutely hosed by the refs. I honestly feel bad for J. Poole the most, who hit one of the most iconic shots in Michigan history and now has so called fans on this blog saying he sucks and should be benched. All because a biased squad of refs couldn’t see when Winston literally pushed him to intentionally commit a foul

Not sure why people are surprised. I said multiple times this team was not good. Losing to MSU three times in one season is a huge black mark on Beilein’s resume.

Harbaugh sucks.   He will lose to him Ohio state 10 years in row.  No reason to get ready for that letdown every year.

The one fucking player you can't leave open got left open.  Jordan Poole for the second time in three games against them made multiple mental errors/bad decisions.  Once again, with a lead, they ran horrid offense.  Iggy got lost and he's been our best player against them.  You pick your poison defensively, but you can't leave McQuaid.  Just terrible finish.

Well hopefully we don’t see them in the big tournament. I’ve had enough of them whipping our @$$. I like our chances against everyone else.

Harbaugh better beat Sparty by 45 this year.

it’s on JB at some point. Blew another double digit lead and let up 42 points in the second half. Continuing to live with Poole’s defense in crucial situations is a huge issue.

Why?  M got completely fucked at the end of that game.  At least two chances to let the game play out taken away and advantage handed directly to MSU.  Disgraceful

I cant decide who is the bigger disappointment Poole or Matthews? Matthew's at least plays defense.

I'd bring Poole as a sixth man, he takes shots away from other more efficient players.

Reminds me of Hardaway in that he is more likely to shoot you out of a game than take over

Defense is completely different with Matthews, even when he's not 100%.  He also has an edge.  I know JB wanted Poole's offense, but it wasn't there today.  I don't know if Matthews was bothered, but I would have gone with him and Livers down the stretch.  Poole will be good if he improves over the tourney and summer, but he also has to cut down the mental errors.  Matthews may not be a good NBA player, but he is someone to build a culture around in college.  Calling him a disappointment is BS.

Matthews to me.............2 points today. He has the physical tools, is 23 years old but he's not an NBA caliber player. I know he's hurt but overall he's never turned into the 5-star offensive threat all were hoping which is a killer in this guard based offense.

A few things can be true at once. We played very bad basketball without being forced to by MSU making bad decisions and playing hero ball. AND they took advantage of our unforced errors. Also the the foul disparity in the 2nd half was 100% on the officials trying to even things up in a way they didn't do for us in  EL. The OB call should never have been overturned and the non-call foul on Poole cost us a chance to at least extend the game.

There's no way you can seriously suggest that the refs didn't influence the outcome of that game.

There's no way McQuade should be on the line for 3 shots for a floor foul.   That was a farce.

And there's no way Poole wasn't fouled by Winston near the top of the key with 6 seconds left.

What can anyone say?

This team is just good, not great.

JB is doing a pretty poor job coaching Poole. He constantly makes terrible decisions that actually ruin momentum and allow for easy buckets to the other team.

We are probably a better team without Poole.

And let’s be honest here - MSU is really the only elite team in the B1G and Michigan is pantsed by them 3 times in 21 days and the same script happened each game - Michigan plays selfish hero ball from 15 minutes down to 5 minutes and has consistent defense lapses where MSU gets wide open looks.

If this team makes the second weekend, I will be shocked.

Exactly zero excuses for allowing McQuaid to be that open on damn near every possession. And even less excuses for the guys not knowing he shot fakes and draws shooting fouls consistently.

This is on JB and on Poole.

Im sure everyone thinks they are NBA ready. Who? No one stepped up. On to baseball. This team has zero balls

If you don’t score the final 2:31 your are going to lose every time.  No go to scorer is why this team lost all three of the games to Sparty.  Poole wants to be, he isn’t.  Iggy will be, not yet.

Not sure we scored in the final 2:31 yesterday (probably), but it wouldn't have mattered if we scored in the second half or not. We still would have won.

Let's not get overly dramatic with crap that doesn't actually mean what we think it means.

As much as it pains me, I have to tip my cap to Izzo this year. He gameplanned well for Michigan, and MSU just seemed to make more plays when it mattered the most.

Sometimes your rival just gets the better of you. Use it as motivation. On to the tourney.

Sure, they're the better team but for fuck sake. The better team doesn't always sweep in a 3 games series ESPECIALLY against their arch rival with a fucking title on the line in 2 of them.

I'm not really sure why Michigan can't win big games against their arch rivals but This has gotten pathetic.

You do realize that we swept them last year, right?

Whatever Beilein's flaws as a coach, chronically choking in big games and an inability to beat rivals are not among them. This isn't football.
