The most significant thing that was being said about why McNamara had to be replaced was because his turnovers cost the team. His turnovers in the late season last year were talked about over and over. But I never saw a game where turnovers from him cost the team a game.

I really think Michigan wins if McNamara was playing.

And what games did JJ lose? We got jobbed against State(Because whats his name didnt run wild right?) But we didn't get jobbed against TCU? This is your logic im using so correct me if i'm wrong. Mcnamara couldn't complete a 10 yard pass against cupcakes this year. He assumed he didn't have to put in the work and it showed. Then he got hurt so this is a non issue anyway. Anyone that actually thinks Cade Mcnamara is going to win Iowa a Big10 title is out of their freaking minds. Unless Iowa gets freakish WRs in the portal and changes their OC, they'll be lucky to go 8-4. I liked Cade, I had no problem with him starting camp ahead of JJ....But then his performance and the way he just assumed he was untouchable just rubbed me the wrong way. He's an upgrade over Petras thats for sure, but Iowa is a horrendous offense for a QB that wants to throw the football. Want proof? Look at Jake Rudock at Iowa and then at Michigan.

I'm going to get negged but....this offense put up 52 points (Yes, I'm including the fucking TD that was called back). That should be enough to win any game.

It put up 52 despite McCarthy throwing two pick sixes. The 2nd half adjustments were fantastic. Team loss imo. Defense got torched. Offense had uncharacteristic death turnovers. etc.

It would be nice if this team had a genuine hurry up offense/2 minutes drill. To this untrained eye it just looked like they were pulling plays out of a hat.

Definitely a lot of calls to second guess.  But I think the biggest thing was that we missed Corum.  We got by without him against OSU and Purdue, but today, Edwards couldn't hit the home run (outside of his first carry) and couldn't reliably get 5 yards every carry like Blake can.  It put everything on JJ's shoulders and while he made a lot of plays, had a couple costly mistakes.  We still almost put up half a hundred.

Fitting end to an ugly game.

Just about the worst case scenario performance by our Wolverines. JJ played a heroic game, but some accuracy and decision-making stuff cropped up again along with the good playmaking stuff. I am pretty excited to see what he can do next season with a full season as starting QB already under his belt.

Even with all the self-inflicted wounds, the interesting time management, sluggishness, an early TCU assist from the officials (the TD catch overturn), and a late TCU assist from the officials (no targeting, really?), Michigan clawed back into this one. That 3rd quarter rally was some pretty exciting stuff. When we got it to 41-38, I thought the comeback was on, but alas. Can't fault the players for their effort.

I'd argue the play calling was...uneven. You could say there was too much East-West stuff, but then again those jet-action plays came in quite handy in the 3rd quarter, and for converting 2-pointers. In retrospect, however, UM gives the ball to Donovan Edwards on the first play, he goes for 50, and then decide to get "cute" while largely not testing the middle much. The sequencing there was bad and allowed TCU's defense to settle in. The blocking also seemed less good than usual. My crude, live watch saw that Barnhart might have a rough UFR, if there's a UFR to be done.

Bottom line is Michigan made a lot of mistakes and got off to a slow start. Then, instead of sticking to the gameplan, they got lured into BIG XII game. It was exciting at times, but that's not our game.

Still, putting up 45 points without Corum, All, Schoonmaker, and what looked like several other walking wounded should've been enough. Problem is, a pair of pick-sixes means the offense only netted 31 points. Oh well, can't do anything but root for OSU to lose!

JH teams can’t overcome deficits bc they are so one dimensional regarding running.  JJ played mostly fucking horrible.  He ran well and they scored a bunch, but the odds of winning with TWO FUCKING PICK SIXES are astronomically small.

It’s almost like all the people, the “soft bitches,” that worried about the ability of Michigan to pass when they had to pass were on to something.  Maybe being so run heavy that service academies are the closest comp isn’t a great strategy for winning a national title.

Disappointing, I’m not even mad.

I’m still proud of this team.  Harbaugh brought this program back to where we all want competing for championships and beating Ohio State.

We had a linebacker as our running back near the goal line, and we also ran a reverse TE pass that was supposed to be thrown to then qb at the 2yd line………..

we earned this loss just on those 2 facts

Two pick 6's, and refusing to "keep" on the read option when it was clearly the right choice.

Also, why keep throwing the out route when the defense clearly has that downloaded.  There was almost another INT on that throw, as well.  Not to mention throwing directly at the defender (good thing he dropped it).

The offense clearly went into to this game with too much arrogance, and it seems like they overlooked TCU.

Offense was stale far too much because we played right into TCU’s hands tonight and kept handing it off over and over again and running right into a stacked box. Didn’t use JJ’s legs until it was too little too late. We drank the whole jug of Joe Moore award kool aid and it showed.

Yup.  Alex Drain kept saying we need to mess with their linebackers, but then JJ would just hand it off to Edwards every time.  Once JJ starting running toward the end of the 3rd quarter, then the points came in droves.  How many Michigan fans were shouting at their TVs for 3 quarters?

When we've got first down and a foot to go for a TD, perhaps we should run a QB sneak?

Lots of miscues by McCarthy today.  But we win if he keeps sometimes on the read option before we're down 3 scores late in the game.

Would have been nice to have a few more horses (at 100%). It's really a shame. We still should have won this game, but the margin becomes thinner without having some (fully healthy) gamebreakers.

JJ made some mistakes we couldn't afford. Aside from the picks, seems like he could have taken off a few times with only 3 rushing. Disappointed in the pass pro this game.

Either TCU played out of their minds, or we didn't prepare well for their 3-3-5.

And we still can't run a two minute drill with urgency.

Their first-quarter red zone game calls were awful and cost them this game.  They also ran directly into the teeth of the defense for reasons I still don't get.

The loss of Blake Corum was really felt in this gameplan, though, because they didn't have that guy who could get them 4-5 yards in close.  Honestly, feels like a game UM wins comfortably with a healthy backfield, even with TCU playing well and McCarthy being skittish for a decent chunk of the game.

Game looks a lot different at halftime if Michigan cashes in inside the 5 and doesn't throw that first pick-six. After that it was just bananasball.

I dunno, man. Game goes just crazy and what are you going to do? Michigan did dumb stuff it didn't do all season long, at all, on both sides of the ball. And in the end had the ball with a chance to win.

I do know that people are overreacting when they think that the one thing separating us from winning is firing this coach or that coach. Play a rematch and it goes completely differently. (Not that it would be a guaranteed win...)

You need a real offensive coordinator Harbaugh needs to keep his hand out of play calling and B a CEO head coach. You need a modern passing game to marry to this run game

Offense gave away 10 points in the red zone, gifted TCU 14 on pick sixes, and we still had a chance at the end. There's nothing wrong with this offense.

I am so disappointed with the offensive line today. They were mostly bad and gave up at least 3-4 drive killing pressures.  With the game on the line and TCU giving space to prevent the deep ball they gave up 3 pressures and a false start. Like I don’t even know where to begin analyzing this because it’s just completely different than anything we’ve seen all season. I’ll give TCU some credit there but with the way our line has been built up there is absolutely no reason another team should have completely pantsed our line
