Stapleton goes off on JUB

We all remember that Stapleton was rumored (by JUB) to be behind the "sign-stealing" leaks as an attempt to dispose of Harbaugh, whom he was allegedly angry was hired instead of Ron English.

Consider the iffy source on X, but if authentic, Stapleton seems just the LEAST bit unhinged.

[ED-- Link Redacted. Twitter user linked just steals stuff from message boards, in this case from Balas. I've seen the email and yes it's real. Since I have it independently I'll share the most relevant portion:

The silver lining in our strategy was it forced him to either spend money or, call in a favor he could have used on something else with the firm he retained to explain the rationale behind his grossly unprofessional behavior. And, it also succeeded in his lawyer putting in writing his intent to never mention me again by name (which only time will tell if he adheres to). That the individual could not have cared less about the effect his comments had on documented threats on my personal safety, as well as attacks on my integrity and character (all of which my lawyer explained in our letter) was unfortunate but, only confirmed exactly how bad a person this man is

Also, yes, Stapleton is unhinged. I don't know if admitting malice towards a member of the press corps is grounds to permanently remove Stapleton from any association with Michigan Athletics, but the sooner that happens the better. -Seth]

TL;DR: JUB accuses JS of the leaks. JS is angry and sends JUB a cease-and-desist letter. JUB responds that he is entitled to his opinion, but will not again name JS by name. JS drops a bunch of UM AD names who say they like him. JS loves Warde and is happy with the Moore hire.

I used to follow JUB on Twitter, but I had to stop because my feed was flooded with his RTs hyping his books. It was too much. And I typically don't listen when he's on because his laugh is irritating.

Outside of that, I typically like what he provides, but wonder how frequently he goes down the rabbit hole for a story.

That being said, Stapleton can suck it. If it wasn't him, he has to know who it was and is in cahoots and covering for them. They can all suck it because this is a witch hunt with a whole bunch of unhinged hunters.

If this letter is real: Stapleton obtained an attorney to pursue the matter and then stoops to calling the other party a coward for retaining an attorney to respond in kind. I'd say 'there are no words' but the phrase 'what a fucking putz' does suffice.

If this email is real it's basically a celebratory admission.

Like I said before, one of the only people I care to get info from and trust implicitly insists that "the calls were coming from inside the house". That's as far as they'd go on to say specifically.

The way I read them - and it's a lot of assumption admittedly - is that the very factioned University, Alumni Groups and AD did battle behind the scenes and an asshole like Stapleton won. Whatever group or faction he belongs to won and many claim his faction desires the dumbest, worst shit for UM Football because he felt slighted by Harbaugh. That part I'll have to trust others on as I don't know him but if that email is real this is basically a "got em" post by Stapleton.

Again, if it's real.

So

  • Stapleton I guess bullied JUB into not mentioning his name again(??)
  • His non-denial still seems to be a tacit admission that what JUB said was accurate
  • And then he calls JUB a bad person for pointing out what Stapleton still does not deny

There comes a point where you accumulate enough money that accountability can be avoided forever be using the legal system to bully people who have less money than you. Stapleton seems to be in that mold. This dude sucks.
