Something a Lot Of People are Forgetting About Alabama's Resume

They were tied with a 6-6 Group of 5 team, USF late in fourth quarter. They beat 4-8 Arkansas by 3 points at home. They needed a muffed punt and a 4th and 31 miracle to beat 6-6 Auburn. Nothing about that says top 4 team.

Agreed. I do not believe Bama or Georgia should be in the CFP. Texas has not been that impressive either. They are standing on a W V Bama early in the season when Bama was not playing at the same level they are now. Having said that I prefer to play Texas versus Fla St

Correct, the talking heads (including the penis head finebaum) are completely leaving out the miracle Alabama needed last week…they should have 2 losses

Only Hellen Keller watched Georgia v. Alabama and thought Alabama wasn't CFP worthy.  That doesn't mean they should get in, but come on, they are very good.  I hate the SEC as much as the next sane human, but having close calls shouldn't be an automatic disqualifier, we have had our share over the last three years.

I couldn’t actually go through with that just because of A, the money, and B, the kids deserve to play in a bowl game, but on principle, heck yes.

Clearly the CFP is playing whose line is it anyway where the games are all made up and the points don’t even matter, so to hell with them. Raise a banner and fly it proudly.

So, you can win (or lose) early in the season and not look good doing it, but if you go undefeated yet lose your quarterback in the process, this disqualifies your team from advancing because....entertainment value? Ohio State has already disproved this disqualifier.

The argument being advanced for putting Alabama in the CFP because of yesterday's victory over Georgia rests on the idea that the SEC gets special dispensation for looking better to everyone and not based on historical precedent or past decisions which eliminated other teams in their situation including Michigan in 2006 in a prior playoff iteration.

Don't see how either Alabama or Georgia gets in just based on historical precedent and how past decisions were justified.

Michigan is going to face a difficult matchup no matter who it faces. That team will present issues Michigan hasn't deatt with in any other game. And they could be playing two of those teams next year within weeks of each other giving college football an even more compelling outlook in the CFP debate and seedings.

All I know is Michigan would be getting punished if they have to play Bama or Georgia in the semi-final, so I don't wanna see either of them get in.

  1. Michigan
  2. Washington
  3. Texas
  4. FSU

That's not what Saint Nic says though so...

You have to remember the same people with no football knowledge regarding Signgate are lapping up every goober laced word from SEC/ESPeein country.

Why wait until next year. Just have them do a play-,in game next week. FSU v Bama. Won't happen but it is unfair to leave out FSU. But I am expecting them to be left out.

It's going to be a ratings killer if the SEC is shut out of the CFP.  I just don't see a committee - one that operates with complete opaqueness - being independent of this consideration.

So 5 Major (for now) conferences for 4 spots. Rules and precedent say undefeated and conference champs. Three undefeated conference champs. They're in. Next 12-1 teams and head to heads. That is Texas and it ain't close. Past success isn't relevant or in play here. Do better scheduling SEC. Because you didn't earn the right to be in this mix.

Given the narratives and (unknowledge about football) swine involved in deciding Alabama, likely, will supplant FSU or Michigan (just because).

Character and culture is not common sadly.

I believe these three words provide clear advice / guidance - and, if Georgia and Bama could have followed these three words - there would be no question or controversy.

The three words… “Win the game.”

If Georgia had defeated Bama yesterday - they would be in the CFP.

If Bama had defeated Texas in Tuscaloosa - they would clearly be in the CFP.

The SEC advocates talk about what the NFL thinks about these teams.   The NFL does not care about college teams, they care about what player(s) can do for them and their NFL roster.   Bama has 18 five star prospects.  Georgia has thirteen.  Those rosters are loaded, no question about that.

This game isn’t about.. “Who has the best players?”   It really is who is the best group of players who play as a TEAM.

In 1973 Dennis Franklin, Michigan's QB, broke his collarbone in the Ohio State game that resulted in a tie score. The Big Ten members screwed Michigan out of the Rose Bowl in a vote, and sent OSU, even though it was Michigan's "turn" to go (in those days the tradition was that the same team couldn't go two years in a row).

The excuse was that Michigan's QB was injured and therefore Michigan shouldn't go.

I remember how pissed I was. Obviously, it was not the last time Michigan was to be screwed. I sincerely hope that this doesn't happen to Florida State.

By the same token, the CFP committee could decide that Zinter's injury should lower Michigan's ranking. I'd be pissed off all over again.

But they won the SEC and that just means more! You seem to be overlooking how much more that means. Seriously guys, I cannot stress enough the moreness of the meaning. /s
