More recruiting hires - Jarrett McElwain and Christina DeRuyter
Jarrett McElwain, son of Jim McElwain is now the Director of Scouting. He’s been with the program since 2018.
Christina DeRuyter was hired away from Vanderbilt. She was their Director of on Campus Recruiting so possibly for the same role in Ann Arbor
Build the death star!
Well, we now have a Director of Player Personnel, a new Recruiting Coordinator, a Director of Scouting and a Director of on Campus Recruiting. We have a virtually new coaching staff comprised of 30-something recruiters (supposedly). I guess cutting Harbaugh's pay in half and a significantly reduced buyout is a wake up call. He's needed one.
Or he took the pay cut with the intent for that money to be redistributed into the program.
We should really only be hiring relatives of high ranking defensive tackle recruits at this point.
Well that would be counter-productive. Hiring relatives/coaches of players to non-coaching roles prevents you from recruiting those players.
This all seems awesome, but i'm still puzzled that with UM's resources, this wasn't a thing a long time ago.
puzzled? this is michigan fergodssakes. recruits should walk here then play and act exactly how i want them to play and act just to have the honor of wearing the winged helmet.
+1 fergodssakes reference and +1 ( I'll owe you one) for the outdated reality of the program.
This sounds very much like "we'll run the plays we run and they can try and stop us". So, yeah, the Michigan difference.
At least we are finally updating things!
I actually thought we had all this shortly after Harbaugh came here. We've been operating in the stone age compared to other bigger programs. Sad.
What are you talking about? These are replacing people who left. The only new hire (position) is Morgan. He is terrific because he will be recruiting but also helping players to get ready for life after school. If NCAA allows students to make money, then he will help in that area as well. This is what he was doing before coming to UM.
I don’t think it has ever been a question of Harbaugh having a plentiful staff, it’s been more of a question of organization (or a lack there of). He’s been on the front end of having a bunch of quality control staffers and such, much like Saban, the problem seems more as I stated above already.
Is there any reason to believe that either of these are new positions?
Baby shark doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
and because you can't have one without the other...
Hold up, people.
I have to push back on all this libel of Jim McElwaine all of you are basking in. Unlike all you armchair jocks, he is a great, white man who has given opportunities to lots of kids and proudly represented the orange and blue at UF, as opposed to the other orange and blue SEC school, whose mascot is a tiger To be clear it’s not that I nurse a mancrush on him, I am just standing up for truth and regarding this it’s time to drop the hammer, head it off at the pass if you will. If he did half the things you all insinuate, I will eat a lemon.
It’s all bull.
I see what you did there.
This post is mako me sick. We all know he couldn't co-exist with that megalo maniac Don Brown
Maybe so but if we’d had better receivers there might not have been as much pressure, certainly a Tarik Black tip drill would’ve helped keep the offence on the field
Do they still have that team mom position and is it the same person or did she leave when her son left?
I have heard that Ms DeRuyter is quite a talented on-campus recruiter.
DeRuyter is taking a page from the Mo Linguist playbook. Per her Vanderbilt bio: "Christina DeRuyter joined Vanderbilt as the on-campus recruiting coordinator in March, 2021." Is that over or under the Linguist tenure?
She was at Arizona in 2018, Texas Tech in 2019, and then Vanderbilt for two months in 2021 before Michigan.
Four jobs in three years.
Yeah, I don't expect her to stick around long.
Maybe she's part of the new generation of gig workers. Was she also driving for Uber and Lyft while delivering meals for Grubhub and DoorDash? Should we be worried if her Twitter account contains numerous tweets about how much money she earns by working from home, or if she sounds like the person who keeps calling to warn me about the expired warranty on my car?
Apparently having a father who coaches college goes a long way to getting a nice recruiting gig.
Not sure about Director of Scouting, but the Director of On Campus Recruiting was already a thing.
It seems like a turn style at a bus station..........comin and goin. By the time they print the media guide on the team it will already be outdated. At least when Bo was there, everyone knew who was in charge. You could not cough without getting permission.
Its 2021, times change....stop living in the past
Unless Doc Anderson told you to turn your head ...
