If Jones was getting his positive praise at the draft camp for his defense then I don’t have much faith in that NBA class.

Johns firmly on the bench along with Williams. Make them earn minutes.

diabate is the mvp of this game. he has to play.

Eli pushing the ball up quick against pressure gets a foul call. Compare that with Jones, who catches holds, and then almost tries to post his way up the court.

arizona's size is going to be a big problem in the next game.

Arizona’s big man looked very pedestrian tonight.

It's a long season, but I'm nervous every time Jones has the ball in his hands. I will definitely take the win though. Go blue.

For Michigan to get the most out of this roster, we’re gonna need to see some 5 star play out of Caleb Houstan. He has not been impressive at all here in the early season. We also need to get Hunter more shots. Feed the big fella!

Houston had a better second half and played with a bit more confidence. It’s a start. I’m sure he didn’t want to interfere too much with Diabate’s coming out party.

unfortunately, you can't really have one without the other. teams are going to double down on HD, so hitting those open 3s will be critical, but it ain't happening thus far.

I think I know why Moussa had such a good game. It’s 9AM in France.

he always takes a shuffle step when catching the ball - on the verge of getting a travel or pushing off with his off hand each time.

Stock Up:
• Diabate
Stock Down:
• Jones (at times, he seems unplayable)
• Houstan

Juwan has his work cut out with this team, There's just not a good flow, not enough good outside shooting, giving up way too many offensive rebounds, and bad free throw shooting. When this team wins now it's through raw athleticism which will only carry you so far. Have to trust that these coaches will get the rotation figured out ,On the bright side Diabate looks to be the real deal. Going to be fun watching his game grow.

Good win! Improve the 3s, FT, and perimeter D and we should be set for B1G play!

Also lol at the crowd’s reaction to Diabate sending Michigan to cover-town.

That was the loudest the crowd was all game.

Diabate should be starting. Frankie Collins should be getting some run. It’s not like Jones isn’t screwing up all game. If Zeb isn’t gonna be back for awhile give Frankie some time. Give Bufkin more time, even if it dips into Houstan’s. T Will needs to do something other than sit at the three point line and launch threes. Other than Diabate, free throws have been better last two games. Honestly I would be starting Eli, Kobe, Houstan, Diabate and Hunter. Houstan would have a short leash.

Much better second half.

Good win on the road against a decent team at 3am. So props there.
Like others have stated why is JH hell bent on playing a 5th yr senior transfer when all he has done is struggle? Maybe watching from the pine will relax him some more.
I'm hopeful on Zeb Jackson. He was a Beilein recruit, and looking back Beilein was an elite PG talent evaluater. The question is can this staff develop it.

Diabate isn't going to be coming off the bench much longer. Sure, sometimes sixth and seventh man types show out in games, but this didn't feel like an anomaly. He wasn't just hitting shots, he was playing great defense (not just shot blocking, but closing out on the perimeter), rebounding, and he made smart plays on offense-- passes out of the post when guys were open, knowing when he had a mouse in the house and punishing that. His dunk was awesome, but he showed great awareness of what was going on offense, which I think was one of his only weaknesses coming in. He played great, and his ceiling is even higher.
I was a little disappointed in Williams play, I'm hoping he becomes a consistent three point threat. Can't accuse Howard of playing favorites: he didn't hesitate to bench both Johns and Williams in the second half.
Jones... I've probably criticized him enough earlier in the game thread.
