Man, I know it's game 4.. but I am starting to get the sense Jones is going to drive fans crazy this year. Way too many high leverage mistakes in the first half that directly lead to UNLV points or killed possessions. Can't have that from your point guard.

And there’s the inevitable collapse before the half. This is a joke. I’m not staying up to watch this shit show.

Can't say that I'm impressed with Jones so far this season. He plays out of control, almost like a guy who has never had good teammates to rely on. When he recognizes that he's at MICHIGAN, maybe he'll settle down some.

Every, what, 30 or so games we as Michigan fans can claim officiating truly went our way.  Every other goddamn game it's battling those batards in stripes.

Dickinson got a charge while the defender shuffled and was in the arc.  Jones gets a wretched charge that...well maybe we need to get him in the bench.  But it also led to a 3pt bucket for UNLV.

Jones has managed to foul out in one game, pick up 4 in another, and has I think three in one half so far.  That's not even against good teams.  WTF?  Did they not call fouls in the Sun Belt or where ever?  He almost single-handedly flushed a ten point lead.  And yeah the last call was questionable, but still.

The Jones push off was on him, terrible foul but the one under the basket should have been on the defender. Regardless though, need a lot more from him, Houstan, and Johns. TBD on where we wind up but not playing well at this point.

UNLV hit an unmanageable amount of shitty shots in the first half yet Michigan is still up at half so I'll take it.  Not pretty but people seem to have forgotten that at this point of last season Michigan had to go to OT to beat an 0-3 Oakland University team.

Juwan will need MUCH more time this year to find the right subs & lineup configurations, that is clear

Definitely agree. We're in game 4 with pretty much an entirely new supporting cast around Hunter (thank God for Eli. He may need to step in a steer the ship at PG in the second if Jones can't pull it together).

All said, it's game 4. This team is young, and very much a work in progress. We have reason to believe this team will improve drastically as the year develops with enough depth that we have options if guys can't hack it. We'll be fine, just need to kids to keep playing.

References to last year’s team mean little unless Wagner, Livers, Smith, and Brown are about to walk through the door. At this point in their careers, I doubt Johns and Jones have the ability to increase their level of play dramatically enough to reach their predecessors’ level.

Tend to agree with you there. Jones I think is more likely to settle in a little bit as he gains more experience with his teammates. Johns I just think is what he is. Nice role player to have, but Moussa may end up taking the starter minutes at the 4. Johns doesn't seem to even want to consider taking wide open three's right now. If that's where his head is at, you're not losing anything by putting Moussa in there.

I really think Bufkin should be eating into Jones's and Houstan's minutes. Houstan, outside of his passing, has been so bad. I would expect growing pains from a freshman, I would just think for a top 10, first round pick guy, there would be way more good right away.

I know it is early in the season and we have a lot of young players, but I'm getting the urge to recalibrate expectations downward a bit for this year.

At the beginning of the season, I thought "Dickinson and Eli back and Dickinson might be able to drop some shots from further out. They will be complemented by some new blood freshman that could elevate things if they run well early, especially if Jones turns out to be another good transfer pickup."

After the Seton Hall game and the first half of this one, I'm thinking, " Dickinson and Eli can't do it all, freshman are freshman, Jones needs work at both ends of the court, and nobody can shoot threes. That Diabate though........"

Trying not to imagine next year without Dickinson and Brooks.

Hopefully they can work things out and get into a groove as the season progresses, but there is a lot of work to do and a lot to fix.
