March Madness Day Two
Day two of March Madness is underway! Florida Atlantic leads Northwestern, 20-19, at halftime. Some great basketball is being played there... Baylor leads Colgate by 10 points early.
The biggest story from yesterday was of course Oakland beating Kentucky. Also somewhat interestingly, huge amounts of people seem to think Oakland is located in California, not in Michigan...
What games are you looking forward to today? What will the upsets be?
Can Mike Hart coach basketball?
Look...I'm just saying...has anyone asked him the question?
FAU has 20 turnovers and is going to lose in overtime.
FAU deserves every moment of this OT.
What are they reviewing? If Harbaugh or Moore can be suspended for the foul?
Well, looks like we'll know soon on Dusty. DeVries is who I want, with the caveat that I don't know shit and just looked at Drake's SportsRef page.
I would agree, of those coaches mentioned thus far I think Devries has become the leading candidate that I would prefer. We need someone that can turn around a program that has been cratered.
OMG these refs are shit
CC: Chris Collins
Turns 50 next month. Makes less than $3M. Arguably done more with less in a P5. Worked miracles at NW.
Definitely preferable to Hoiberg. With better resources, could be a stronger recruiter. Already does well in the portal.
He has been my choice all along.
The squad he has on the floor gets dumped trucked by UConn on Sunday…hard pass! Want a coach that can compete for titles not a coach that finishes middle of the pack in the B1G.
NW cares less about sports than Vanderbilt. He's done at NW what nobody as done ever. He deserves a look. At M, he could totally recruit against Danny Hurley.
And that coach is...(drumroll please):
??????
Weren't they the 3 seed in the BTT? Is that middle of the pack?
He’s had 1 good year in 10. Juwan had one really bad year out of 5.
Like this coach before he came here?
Collins had 5 losing seasons in a row. Two were EXACTLY (8/9 wins) like this last season we just had. Come on people.
Annnnd...FAU got hosed on that out of bounds call
How did they not review that ??!!
Exactly! CBS showing it again out of the commercial break and there's no question that FAU never touched the ball
Makeup call, the only reason they had the ball was because of the missed hack in the lane.
Question for all the FAU backers here:
Did you always root passionately against all other B10 teams, or is this a more recent development resulting from how the B10 treats Michigan?
I'm going to date myself here, but I rooted for Magic over Bird, Isaiah over Worthy & Perkins, Illini over Heels...
Somewhere it changed. What about others. Did the B10 bring our enmity upon itself, and if so when?
Get Chris Collins to Ann Arbor.
Why in the hell are they taking a timeout with 30 seconds left in an 11 point game.
Everything abou this Northewestern game sucks
Dutcher up by 6 at half.
Shaka currently losing to WKU.
Marquette looked at my bracket, tore it up, and set the pieces on fire...
Dude I had Kentucky in the FINAL!
My bracket got broken, shredded, set ablaze & then pissed on!
(Not to mention I bought into the Medved hype on this blog & had CSU reaching the Sweet 16!) 🤬
I don’t think anyone on here is going to suggest making Shaka Smart a top-3 paid coach anymore.
I have learned many lessons over the years with this tournament. Trusting Marquette / or a Shaka Smart coached team sure hasn’t registered yet…
People need to remember this is one game. Candidates who are/were on our board are because of their whole body of work, their whole resume not what they do in this week or two. I still think Dusty would be a good pick. If I’m not mistaken he could bring some of these players with him potentially which would make the rebuild obviously go smoother. One game’s performance should not overshadow the whole body of work.
that's not as fun, Our bracket doesn't have team names, rather the head coaches names. Last one standing is the next Michigan coach!
Welcome to Ann Arbor Danny Hurley!
Seriously. Can we fire the money cannon at the UCONN Hurley?
How many coaches with nice contracts and good recruiting/results want the UM 3 year minimum rebuild to tournament status job.
Crickets.
This is a good point. If the FAU player had sank his 2 free throws on the 1-and-1 to put FAU up 4, FAU most likely wins that game and the conversation would be completely different.
With that said, these games can also be an indicator if a coach has a glaring weakness or if a supposed strength is actually more hype than anything (especially when mid-majors play a major conference team).
FAU most likely wins that game and the conversation would be completely different.
Not for people who watched the game. Although the Collins backers feel vindicated because they won so maybe I'm wrong.
But anyway, all FAU really needed was their best player to do something other than dribble out the clock in a tie game.
someone needs to introduce us to the Western Kentucky coach!
24-8 run?!?! Are you kidding me?
I am going to start filling out my bracket after the title game is over.
That is going to really help with my predictions.
Michigan Coach Elimination game . Collins still alive …
Dusty May, Devries and Medved all out of tourney.
Get busy Warde and start reaching out and interviewing people please.
But out of those 3, only DeVries please!
I would just as soon watch a Juwan coached team as a team that scored 11 pts in a half, or clanged shot after shot (when they hadn't turned it over before even shooting!)
If there's one thing Warde has always been good at it's taking a proactive approach with the leadership of our teams.

Now Brian's top three candidates are available.Let's get one of them to walk to AA.
Florida Colorado is a really entertaining watch so far
Roger that
The more games I watch, the more I think the refs are being paid off by Vegas. There's just too many blown/missed calls that affect the outcome of games. And I read something the other day about how a NBA coach was receiving death threats from gamblers for taking players out with the lead but not the spread. And then I see the whole Shotei thing going on and it's abundantly clear that the sports leagues should never have gotten in bed with Vegas.
The SDSU game had several jaw dropping calls against the Aztecs. There was one with like a minute to go they called on LeDee (his forth) where he went up for a rebound and literally did not touch anyone.
It was amazing to watch on replay. I have no idea what the ref imagined he saw.
FYI the coach was the Cavs coach - Bickerstaff
I too, though, am convinced refs are being paid off - but the leagues getting into bed with Vegas/Draft Kings etc only made the existing problem worse.
The NBA is a total sham with its refs clearly betting on games.
Never forget the FBI told Stern they were going to put a wire on Donaghy to catch other refs and Stern leaked Donaghy to the media, turning him into a fall guy.
Steratore has the cushiest gig in America…
