This is exactly what Matt Rhule did at Nebraska in order to get Dominic Raiola, the #1 QB.  Coaches aren’t supposed to coordinate the pay for play from the NIL, so the guys who think they might get busted do a wink wink nudge nudge attempt.  Day actually did his $13 million number this way originally, but it has gone way above that as per unfounded speculation in the Sayin thread.

I’m simultaneously jealous and grossed out.

Can you imagine what would happen if we go down to Columbus and win again?

At the end of the day, bring in all the talent in the world, those coaches are still the same.  They're going to come up with a plan to beat this year's team, not next year's.  High street is going to burn and Day will be loathed more than Cooper.

I always liked Coopy--on top of his performances against us, he seemed a nice and genuinely decent guy. I was stunned to learn he's still alive. Is he ever invited to Columbus or even remembered (except when being compared to Day)? Seems like he got erased from history, Soviet style.

You see the NCAA going after Florida and Miami for NIL inducements. OSU better hope their deals are hidden well because it's obvious theyve dropped a boatload of money. Although I dont think Kiffin should be spearheading this discussion.

My wife and I love watching HGTV. One of our favorite shows is called Hometown, where the hosts (a very southern and adorable couple) renovate homes near Laurel, Mississippi.

Now, Laurel MS has a poverty rate anywhere from 25-33% depending on the source you use. But this show would have you believe that every 3rd person is an artist who has a little shop just off of Main St. and supports their family through their art. [Also, Laurel is 66% Black, but I don’t know if I notice a black-owned business even once per season…]

The funniest development of the past couple seasons is that almost every single episode starts with the narrative of “this young couple is moving to Laurel MS from [insert big city here] to start a family and just be able to enjoy their community for the first time in their lives.”

This comes after YEARS of the primary narrative being “so-and-so’s family has been in Laurel for umpteen generations and everyone knows them.”

Ain’t nothing wrong with promoting your community and restoring homes so that people can have decent modern housing…but the notion that city folk are FLOCKING to Laurel, MS (population 17,000+) in order to experience decency is some Hallmark Movie shit lol

Well the ncaa would have most of the sec, osu and many other programs on penalty for inducements.  A single benefit by a collective prior to the players enrollment is an inducement!  How the NCAA is allowing any booster involvement with NIL is complete and total BS.  But, the fact that florida and miami are being investigated while Texas A&M, Alabama most others paying cash for visits, paying out millions and giving cars away for commitments and a signed LOI is a joke and has been.

NIL was meant for you can go sign an NIL deal, not a group of boosters to pool money together and buy recruits!

There are investigations into Florida and Florida state, but I haven’t seen anything about Miami being investigated.  …and Miami is clearly paying players.

Though this is sort of like Connor Stalions.  Paying players like deciphering signs is not against the rules.   I believe tampering and inducing are only illegal if they are coordinated with the schools.

This is correct.  The only reason Florida St. is in trouble is because a coach drove a recruit to meet with an NIL group.  And their punishment is the SCHOOL can't speak with that NIL group for a year, but that NIL group can still directly deal with players and offer them whatever they want.

I'll worry about them when they start bringing in quality o-line. None of these players will be as good as Stroud or Harrison were and they couldn't win then. Whatever QB they field will be under an enormous amount of pressure when they play before their own fans in the shoe this fall. They'll play tight, their offensive line won't dominate our d-line, McLaughlin will choke, and they'll implode.

Michigan dgaf about how many 5* you have on the field (well maybe our special teams does...)
