Heresy: A Deal With The Devil
I understand this is a Michigan sports blog, and as such, I expect to get negged to oblivion, but what if you got to choose:
A. Michigan national championship win this year
B. Detroit Lions Superbowl win this year
Which do you choose? I think I'd have to choose the Lions because of how putrid they've historically been and also, I think it might be celebrated as one of the greatest United States sports championships ever.
Thoughts?

Only Michigan Football counts here. This place is sacred and a championship for the team is everything.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:20 PM ^
yeah what is with the quality of posts here lately?
is this like, bad dress rehearsal, great show?
January 7th, 2024 at 2:24 PM ^
Hey guys, on this here Michigan fan message board do you want Michigan to win a NC? Yes or no?
January 7th, 2024 at 2:41 PM ^
Or maybe...?
January 7th, 2024 at 3:09 PM ^
Why post that here? Seems like a Twitter question
January 7th, 2024 at 3:27 PM ^
I like the Lions, but I would take a Michigan win tomorrow over 1, 10, 100.. pick your number.. Lions Super Bowls. Go Blue.
January 7th, 2024 at 4:12 PM ^
For you Lions fans it’s ironic you have 57 upvotes right now
January 7th, 2024 at 8:23 PM ^
BET!
Talk to me 'bout the Lions NEXT WEEK!
January 7th, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
Por que no los dos?
January 7th, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
Michigan - no question. Happy for the Lions - but love the Wolverines
January 7th, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
That boy ain’t right.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:33 PM ^
I tell you hwhat!
January 7th, 2024 at 2:19 PM ^
Fuck the NFL, Michigan all the way!
Also, I have an Anchorage Brewing A Deal with the Devil queued up for tomorrow (well two of them a regular and a triple oaked). Go Blue!
January 7th, 2024 at 2:20 PM ^
Michigan, and it’s not even close.
Also, dumb post/hypothetical
January 7th, 2024 at 2:22 PM ^
Get the hook!
January 7th, 2024 at 2:23 PM ^
Michigan is playing for a national title tomorrow.
The Lions are the 5th or 6th best team in the NFL (at best) and need 4 wins to win the Super Bowl.
Why on Earth would I put all my chips on the Lions?
January 7th, 2024 at 2:23 PM ^
A, a thousand times A
January 7th, 2024 at 2:24 PM ^
Michigan National Championship. It’s not even close.

LaPorta goes down with a knee injury. Not sure the devil understands
January 7th, 2024 at 2:26 PM ^
Oh he understands. Not only is Michigan Football draining the life force of the basketball team it has now started to consume the Lion's.
Still a great deal, IMO.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:25 PM ^
I'll take Michigan. The Lions window is still open and easier to rebuild.
Nonetheless, Sam LaPorta just injured his knee - it bent backwards, clearly visible on replay. He walked off the field, but I can't believe it wasn't damaged in some bad ways.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:26 PM ^
He was just carted to the locker room.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:43 PM ^
yeah Michigan all the way. Even if you like both teams the exact same amount. Winning a super bowl is much easier in a league that has a draft and a salary cap as opposed to one where its all about recruiting and the whims of 17 year olds plus a regular season bad loss can sink your season. Now winning a super bowl isn't easy, but it is much, much easier than winning a college national championship. Peak roster years with an NFL caliber QB come around once a generation, the lions team next year will be more or less the same as this year.
January 7th, 2024 at 3:18 PM ^
Not if you are the lions! But I agree, avg college team vs historically avg nfl team, nfl team will get the championship first.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:26 PM ^
It is Michigan 100/100 times. Sorry, not sorry
January 7th, 2024 at 2:28 PM ^
Honestly. I don't care what the Lions do.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:29 PM ^
Is there something in the water today?
January 7th, 2024 at 2:30 PM ^
Since I’m not a Lions fan, I pick Michigan.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:31 PM ^
If I wanted to root for pro football I’d be a Buckeyes fan.
January 7th, 2024 at 3:17 PM ^

Put this man in the Boo Box
January 7th, 2024 at 2:36 PM ^
My thought: GTFO
January 7th, 2024 at 2:39 PM ^
This obviously boils down to "who is your favorite team?" This isn't like Michigan has won so many championships isn't time for the Lions to win one. If we win the next five titles you can ask me after that. I mean, my answer will still be Michigan but at least I'd understand the question better.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:39 PM ^
The Lions don't have to win the Super Bowl to have a successful season. They just won their first division title since 1993. If they win a playoff game, it will be the first one since 1991. If that's all they get, it will still be their best season in three decades. I'll gladly take that.
Whereas with Michigan, I want it all. Now.
GO BLUE!
January 7th, 2024 at 2:39 PM ^
You serious? Michigan every time. Lions are nice, but absolutely no comparison.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:40 PM ^
Obviously a troll
January 7th, 2024 at 2:42 PM ^
Michigan. Easy.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:43 PM ^
From 1/5
"I also never watch a game live, so I know I'm the weirdo".
Why are you here again?
Go Blue!
Beat the Huskies!
January 7th, 2024 at 2:47 PM ^
I’d trade 10 Lion SB for one Michigan NC. And I’m a lions fan
January 7th, 2024 at 3:21 PM ^
Unfortunately lions don’t have 10 sb wins let alone 1 to trade.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:48 PM ^
I'm the biggest Lions fan in the world, and even I wouldn't contemplate such a trade.
A national championship for Michigan, especially given all the BS they've been subjected to this year, would be heavenly.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:49 PM ^
Michigan hands down!
First, not all of us are Lions fans, I’ve always had my rooting interests in the Bears.
Secondly, count me in the faction who doesn’t really care about the NFL that much but when I do it’s for the Bears.
Third, I’m all about Michigan and I want to see them win above all else!!!
January 7th, 2024 at 2:49 PM ^
I don't give two shits about the Detroit Lions (I was a Steelers fan back when I cared about Pro Football), so pretty obviously...Michigan.
I think you are incorrectly assuming that most people on here will be Lions fans, which I doubt, while I feel confident in assuming that pretty much everyone (except the few fans of other teams who peruse these boards) is a Michigan fan.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:54 PM ^
I, too, have random mental diarrhea from time to time. I just try to avoid sharing the gory details with everyone when I do.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:54 PM ^
As a lifelong casual Lions fan, I could care less what they do at this point. They made the playoffs and won their division. A playoff win would be cool but not expected.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:56 PM ^
I almost feel like starting a new account just so I can downvote this twice. This is a Michigan blog. WTF.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:59 PM ^
No, just no.
January 7th, 2024 at 3:01 PM ^
I don't know what universe this applies in, but it isn't this one, Go Blue times two!🦁〽️😀
January 7th, 2024 at 3:02 PM ^
Michigan win this year because JJ, Blake, etc deserve it. Lions are at least 1 year away IMO. This is our best/only chance with UofM as I expect rebuilding and a step back next year.
