I was lukewarm at first because it’s hard to know what you’re getting but OSU gave Day an audition based on three games in 2018 that had way less stakes than what Sherrone dealt with.

The weight of the world was on Moore’s shoulders. I know we can say it was Harbaugh’s team but Moore had to go through a Big Ten gauntlet of PSU, upset minded Maryland, and OSU.

He basically gets told on the plane he’s the guy going into a hostile Happy Valley and has to try to keep the team focused on game day all while knowing a single loss means the season is done. Does anyone realize how much pressure the guy was under? Then JJ gets hurt and he has to manage playcalling revolving around an injured QB.

Dude is amazing. I’m very optimistic about Sherrone. Great recruiter, will keep the culture, and he’s Harbaugh’s handpicked successor.

Yes man, we do. That's probably 75% of the people on this board's primary reason for wanting him as head coach.

I've said it elsewhere. At this point we don't have much choice given the timing. Give the guy a chance. But we have no idea if he knows how to run a football team. It's a big organization and he has zero experience doing this.

We need a DC to carry on with what we have. Pay Minter.

Our D won these games. We've always been able to score 30+ but prior to the last two years our losses were from giving up even more points.

What is the downside to ignoring the 7 day posting rule?  Is some bureaucrat going to castigate Michigan for adding to the very short list of black head coaches in college football?

I am sure the players have been aware of the Moore taking over. The 7 days formality is part of the process, and I don't think U of M can get around it.  It's like at work when you who is getting the job/promotion, but they still have to "interview" outsiders.

Warde will put on his negotiating hat and lowball moore on the money. He fleeced harbaugh on all his contracts and will no doubt also do that to a rookie coach aiming for his first hc job in the bigtime.

The more the clock ticks, the more likely Michigan is to lose players to the transfer portal and high school recruits to other schools.

This is just pseudo-journalism hyperbole.  The delay is administrative.  The players already know that Sherrone will be the head coach.

just appoint Moore as an interim and remove the interim in his title after 7 days.

Seems like an obvious and easy move to make that would have removed any remaining uncertainty. It could have been done immediately after Harbaugh announced he was leaving.

I say we should go all out for PJ Fleck.  He would keep everyone that he could.  Has great experience.  Would be his dream job and he is young.  Hard to not like him for players and fans.  He would be here a looong time and other BTen teams respect him.

This process seems to add further evidence on Michigan letting administrative hurdles get in the way...A job posting requirement in place for diversity is delaying announcing the hiring of an internal diverse candidate.....who many had speculated for months would be Jim's replacement if he left....meanwhile Bama announces an external hire of DeBoer as Saban's replacement in two days.

Oh...I admit I also wondered about a bowler's endorsement of a football coach

That might be the kiss of death with Warde.  Actually, if Warde thinks Moore is a good idea, I'd worry more.  Does he have a coach hire that has worked out well?  Don't say hockey to me.  That team has lots of talent and consistently loses its mind and then the game.  Doesn't seem like a well-coached unit.

I still think they need to do a real coaching search with Sherrone at the top of the list. It’s possible Michigan would have won those games with Mike Hart or Minter calling the plays. I think everyone is maybe getting a little too excited about that three-game stretch. Also, in-game coaching is overrated imo when you have good players. The biggest skill a college HC needs is to be able to find and recruit talent and build a staff. Maybe Sherrone will excel at that but who knows?
