Finebaum extra salty OSU let him down

Submitted by harmon40 on November 26th, 2023 at 1:35 PM

Mr Finebaum is not chastened this morning. Can’t understand why Michigan fans feel vindicated. Not at all pleased with Day, seems to take his failure to beat us personally.

He is his usual onerous self. Do not watch if Finebaum triggers you too much, but I found it enjoyable to see him stewing after Michigan’s statement W yesterday and thought I would share.

Finebaum himself is just a petty, reprehensible pundit. Contemptible and pitiful.

But the fact that his shtick sells- including the hilarious inverted Disney narrative you describe- is alarming to me. Like, people who agree with that have jobs, make decisions, drive automobiles on the same public roads I do, their kids go to school with normal people’s kids, etc.

Just wow. Amazing anything in this country gets done at all.

Not clicking.  It's pretty shallow that no matter what Michigan does, he criticizes it.  If we lose, he gloats. If we win he minimizes it.  It's so obvious that he simply debates the opposing side to anything Michigan or Harbaugh-related just to get more viewers.

Funny (like a clown) how I thought he was an SEC commentator, but he sure likes to stick his nose in our business.  You'd think we played in the SEC? He talks more about Michigan than most SEC teams.

He's a no talent parasite, a groupie that would cease to exist if he couldn't second guess others.  Like a flea on a dog, or a mosquito.

Not giving him the satisfaction of giving him my click.

Finebaum is a man who has made a career out of trolling. That’s his job. If you click on his stuff, he wins. If you’re triggered by it, its icing on the cake for him.

He is the water carrier for the SEC. If Alabama or Georgia had been caught doing this, he would’ve spent the last month talking about how this isn’t a big deal, and if the NCAA had gone after them, it’d be a witch hunt. But its Michigan, and he has a very transparent, personal hatred of Harbaugh.

LMFAO!!! You can't understand why Michigan fans feel vindicated?!?!  You needed someone "reasonable" to explainin it to you?!?! WTF man!!! He had to be just playing dumb because no one can actually be that fucking stupid!

I’m glad it bothers him so much that Michigan and Harbaugh come out of his mouth as much as Saban and Smart’s penises go in but I just can’t make myself listen to this fool.

I like watching this show lately (it is definitely more fun when M is good).  The callers provide the humor and Paul provides the pathos.

--this and episodes of squidbillies is a good late night combo.

Finebaum is being disingenuous. He knows full well that Michigan's victory vindicated Michigan. And it wasn't just that they won, but the manner in which they won: Michigan out-muscled and out-coached OSU. Finebaum wants to create an anti-Michigan narrative, but he's swimming against the tide. The consensus this morning is that Michigan proved themselves, and is indeed a great team.

Welllll I knew it was a risk to post this. I’ll take my negs.

That said…the comments are pretty much worth it. I should get at least a few upvotes for the comedic value of our communal response

The guy is a serious pinhead. He has lost all credibility being nothing more than a water carrier for the SEC. I'd bet the majority of talking heads laugh at him behind his back. Guys like Greenie at ESPN are staking losing their own credibility by giving him a platform in which to spot his nonsense. Him and Heather Indiana need to go get a room and cuddle up together with their negative Michigan mantra.

Wow!

"Extra salty"?

More like battery acid. Goes to town on Michigan, then, absurdly, Rick Flair.

Has enough left over to take shots at FSU.

I watched the first couple minutes. No point in discussing Finebaum who is just doing his troll thing.

As for Matt Barrie, I understand what he's saying but I'm still just so frustrated by this take. He's not being logically consistent. He says:

1) Michigan would have been dominant without the sign stealing.

2) Other people say Michigan only won because of the sign stealing.

3) Michigan should not claim a victim status--even though he just noted how we were victimized (other people incorrectly saying the sign stealing was why we beat Minnesota 52-10, for example).

But the real victimization that we reacted to (unmentioned by Barrie) is when the entire conference ganged up on us and misrepresented their own beliefs about sign stealing and bullied the commissioner into violating the conference bylaws in order to kneecap an innocent (as far as anyone knows given the lack of ANY evidence) Harbaugh and therefore also the program.

Matt Barrie seems smart enough that he should be able to understand this. He just finds it annoying that Michigan is able to rightly claim to being victimized.

Ack. Accidentally watched that earlier by mistake.

I think his (Finebaum's) particular "genius" is that when you listen to/watch him he really gives off the impression that he means what he is saying and that it's not a troll job. This means that either

a) He really believes a number of profoundly conflicting narratives that are based on (meta) tribal loyalties that require a metric ton of cognitive dissonance avoidance

b) He is a master troll at a sociopathic level

I know that people with this sort of media skillset have been exceedingly successful across a number of fields these days, which is worrisome to say the least.

The ESPN business model involves lots of guys with hyperbolic hot takes who are intentionally caustic and annoying.  These quasi-WWF characters drive rage clicks and views.  It allows fans to watch and validate their inner worst tendencies.  That is how they make money.

That thread makes my weekend.   The joy of watching that little old midget squirm is just wonderful.  Gee Rick Flair trying to make a name.   Hmm Paul, you wouldn't try to make a name for yourself by getting attention.

It will be so fun listening to what he says when we win the NC.

It’s very simple to see this guys entire stick is two things. SEC slappy and M hater both of which make him very popular.

it’s pathetic and kind of feel sorry for the guy that he is so insecure that he has to go to great lengths to be the villain for any sort of attention.

I bet Tiny Paul spent weeks working on a magnum opus for when PSU, then OSU beat Michigan and made everything right in his tiny SEC world.  Another one into the dumpster, eh Paul?
