Elston to Chargers
February 6th, 2024 at 5:37 PM ^
Sorry but JH is an asshole at this point. Urban Meyer would never do this to Ohio. Ok take 1-2 guys but he basically has set up much of the staff to leave this late in the offseason. Why on earth would he set up sherone for failure.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:39 PM ^
I get it, this sucks, but its a way different time now in CFB. I'm pretty sure JH isn't forcing these guys to go to the NFL. Hell, his kid jumped and went to a different team. I'm not exactly sure what is going on, but i'm not putting this all on Harbaugh.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:48 PM ^
Ok. Seriously.
Uncle Urban covered up domestic violence allegations. You think he wouldn’t act in his own best interests, too? He’s already proven he would, to the detriment of friends.
Never compare Jim to Uncle Urban again.
February 7th, 2024 at 12:03 AM ^
I mean.. Urban was in the same situation a couple years ago and he chose not to raid OSU for assistants.... https://247sports.com/college/ohio-state/Article/urban-meyer-wont-raid-ohio-state-footballs-coaching-staff-for-the-jacksonville-jaguars-i-wont-do-that-mark-pantoni-mickey-marotti-159332571/Amp/
February 7th, 2024 at 5:06 AM ^
Urban also flamed out halfway through his first season in the NFL. So maybe looking out for your old job instead of building a staff full of a guys who know what it takes to run your system and are familiar with your coaching tactics wasn’t the best move
February 6th, 2024 at 5:38 PM ^
Yup hiring Moore was a freakin terrible idea.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:38 PM ^
Best wishes to him. Let's hope he can help Jim earn a Lombardi trophy so they all can cross that off the list and go back to Michigan.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:27 PM ^
Harbaugh fittin to unhoke us then rehoke then unhoke us again huh? When all these other coaches are playing checkers...
February 6th, 2024 at 5:39 PM ^
Should I feel like Harbaugh is moving into douche territory? I really can't tell because I'm still so happy about the national championship.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:49 PM ^
No, I can't fault Jim at all. Remember, these are the guys he brought to Michigan. The college landscape sucks right now. These guys never have a break. So I don't blame some of these older guys for getting out and taking the NFL gig.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:40 PM ^
Sherrone has his work cut out for him.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:56 PM ^
Thank god he knows how to do three jobs at once!
February 6th, 2024 at 6:46 PM ^
No kidding. First time HC with what might be the toughest regular season schedule in program history coming up, being gutted by your former boss while your current boss pinches pennies with new hires and NIL. Oof 😅
February 6th, 2024 at 5:40 PM ^
Jim left to win a Super Bowl, and he is not going to give up on his dream to support UM. He is going to try to get coaches who can help him win. Besides, the coaches who are living want this. Who is excited about the recruiting process and working with teens?
They make more money and do not have to recruit.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
…and there’s no one else out there with NFL experience to fill that void, apparently.
February 6th, 2024 at 10:11 PM ^
He’s bringing along staff that are both familiar to himself, familiar with Minter, and familiar with the defensive scheme they’re implementing… it’s a seamless transition whereas bringing in an NFL guy has a learning curve/adjustment period
February 6th, 2024 at 6:00 PM ^
Can someone explain why Georgia OSU and Bama’s coaches are hands off year after year? Jim is sending a message. Losing Herbert was the sign. NFL players arent hitting the weight room after class to see if they can beat the new freshman in a squat contest. Its kind of ridiculous. Warde is Bakich’ing our staff right now. Its a game of chicken and fat #%*€ is sitting on his hands.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:05 PM ^
I am pretty sure that if Kirby were to go to the NFL directly, he would take a few Georgia coaches with him. This has nothing to do with SM, Warde, AD, and so on. The NFL is a better deal, and JH wants to work with people he trusts. I am sure SM is doing everything he can to keep them, but the NFL offers more money and a better lifestyle for the coaches.
February 6th, 2024 at 10:13 PM ^
Bama specifically is notorious for coaching attrition… and if Saban (prior to retirement), Day or Smart took an NFL job you can be certain they’d take a significant portion of their staff with them. We aren’t losing coaches to random NFL jobs, they’re following Jim.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:41 PM ^
Portal is going to be fun in the spring 😬😬😬😬
February 6th, 2024 at 5:42 PM ^
Would the last coach to leave Schembechler Hall please turn out the lights?
February 6th, 2024 at 5:42 PM ^
Massblue he could easily find competent nfl coaches without decimating Michigan if he cares about Michigan and sherone. He’s an asshole. Meyer would never do this to Ohio.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:53 PM ^
Give me a break. Go send a love letter to Urban Meyer if you think he is such a swell guy. Jim isn't doing this as some sort of vendetta. He is paid to win and he's going to assemble the best staff he can, those are his guys and apparently they like coaching with him. Sherrone needs to assemble the best staff he can, Jim has no duty to leave him certain guys.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:11 PM ^
Do you seriously think Jim is not trying to win a Super Bowl? He wants the best coaching staff money can buy. If he could, he would raid his brother's coaches. He does not care about anything but serving himself and the people paying his salary. Every one of us would do the same.
Also, SM makes $5.5 mm per year on a 5-year contract. The next two years are going to suck. We will lose players and will have an 8-4 team. If he is worth the money, I expect him to field a competitive team in year 3.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:43 PM ^
Can never say Sherrone was born on 3rd...
February 6th, 2024 at 5:44 PM ^
What was the point of hiring Moore for continuity if you are goint to raid all his best coaches?
February 6th, 2024 at 5:54 PM ^
He wasn't hired for continuity, he was hired because it was the easiest and cheapest option.
Not that I would trust Warde to conduct a proper coaching search anyway.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:57 PM ^
Well we still have the continuity of our players. That won't at all be affected by their coaches leaving.
Oh, wait . . .
February 6th, 2024 at 5:45 PM ^
Can we now finally all agree Warde is inept??
February 6th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
The best AD in the country probably isn't keeping an assistant from an NFL job at the same level under a head coach who assistants love to work for. Let's not act like every bad thing that happens is cause of Warde.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:59 PM ^
The players loved Herbert, who was the glue of the team. He was as key as anybody in keeping our players together.
He was willing to stay, but Warde had other ideas.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:25 PM ^
Who the bloody hell would disagree?
February 6th, 2024 at 5:45 PM ^
If we can keep Graham and Grant plus most of our current D-line recruits, that'd be a major proof of concept for maintaining our program culture post-Jim. If not, that would cast some doubt on our strategy of vacating the elite recruiting space and loading up on program guys further down the rankings.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:46 PM ^
This is starting to remind me of when Steve Spurrier went to the Redskins and brought his college staff and a lot of old players along for the ride. I wish Harbaugh and the guys he’s bringing aboard well, but Spurrier’s results were poo.
February 7th, 2024 at 5:08 AM ^
The flip side is that Harbaugh took a bunch of his Stanford staff to San Francisco with him and turned that into three NFC title games in a row…
February 6th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
Can't wait to watch Kenneth grant in the Texas game playing for the wrong team and to watch Mason Graham futilely dominating people on USC's line next year...............................................
February 6th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
I hope one of the reporters will ask Jim Harbaugh at some point soon "do you feel like you set Sherrone up for success given that you took most of the coaching staff with him which will lead to mass exodus in the transfer portal?"
I don't put any of the blame on Sherrone. The blame goes to Warde for not having locked these guys down.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:50 PM ^
I blame Sherrone. They offered these guys raises yet not one wants to stay. That is profoundly disturbing.
Fire Sherrone and hire Lance Leipold before it’s too late.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:59 PM ^
Leipold defense gave out a boatload of points to UNLV, not interesting in going back to RR 2.0 of semi-decent offense and crap defense.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:14 PM ^
UM is going back to that with Moore and his castaway of cosches.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:03 PM ^
Fire Sherrone and hire Lance Leipold before it’s too late.
Dumbest mgoblog comment of all time? Fire a coach before he's even started? lol!
February 6th, 2024 at 6:16 PM ^
The central justification for his hiring has been rendered void. He won’t get fired, but this is an inauspicious start to say the least.
Very, very disheartening.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:27 PM ^
Sal - take a break dude. The sky is falling shit is way premature. Let's see what the final staff looks like, and perhaps, even play a few games, before this usual doom and gloom BS.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:35 PM ^
You are really ready to blow it up huh? This reminds me of bringing in Rich Rod to get rid of that bum Lloyd Carr. A lot like it actually.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:43 PM ^
You're just saying dumb things now.
Too late for what?
Disturbing that a raise doesnt keep someone from taking a promotion that they know they will NEVER be offered again?
Youre on brain tilt, and you should log off for the evening.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:48 PM ^
So how long until Jim hires Moore?
February 6th, 2024 at 7:36 PM ^
Honestly he kind of should. As an assistant you can do just fine with the staff in place. How the fuck would Moore know how to hire an entire defensive staff? At this point Jim is toying with Warde and if Moore get effed in the meantime so be it.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:48 PM ^
Ouch 😣
February 6th, 2024 at 5:48 PM ^
Eastern, Central, Cincinnati, ND and Michigan to the NFL would seem like a fairly normal progression. JH is taking his people with him. All Michigan had to so was sign Harbaugh and we wouldn't be discussing it.
