Elston to Chargers
February 6th, 2024 at 5:38 PM ^
I mean they gave him the job without even interviewing another person, that's a good amount of support. If he wasn't at Michigan already, his name would have never even been mentioned as a candidate since he has no HC experience.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:40 PM ^
Disagree, I view it as Warde just making the easy hiring decision for the sake of "continuity" and then doing absolutely nothing to actually help maintain continuity.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:48 PM ^
Doing less with Moore will have to be our new slogan. Warde will never do more when less is an option.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:46 PM ^
If they don’t want to be here, they shouldn’t be here. It would suck but I don’t know why coaches would matter as they’d get new ones if they transfer. If it’s a money thing, we weren’t going to keep them anyway.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:34 PM ^
No chance we don't lose players/recruits over this
February 6th, 2024 at 5:34 PM ^
Good thing we elevated Moore for "continuity..."
I'm not saying he wasn't the right person for the job, but I would have liked to see a round or two of interviews.
Of course, Warde would be conducting those, so...
2023-24 National Champions!
February 6th, 2024 at 5:35 PM ^
Yeah, the instant elevation of Moore looks like a huge mistake.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:47 PM ^
Okay I'll bite - #1. who would you have hired? Please provide top 3 so we have it in writing for future uses. #2. would you trust our current AD to make the correct hire?
February 6th, 2024 at 6:03 PM ^
Lance Leipold.
Warde hired Moore…soooooo.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:09 PM ^
So was can get Kansas’s staff?
February 6th, 2024 at 6:11 PM ^
Better than the one we have now.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:15 PM ^
Will it be better than the one we start the season with?
February 6th, 2024 at 6:17 PM ^
Unequivocally yes.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:18 PM ^
Sure, Jan.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:45 PM ^
without googling, name 2 people on the Kansas Staff.......
February 6th, 2024 at 7:38 PM ^
You cant name a single KU assistant outside of the one that doesnt even work there anymore.
Cmon lol
February 6th, 2024 at 5:50 PM ^
I don't think it looks like a mistake. I think the mistake was in thinking that there wouldn't be much attrition. I'd like to know if Sherrone knew this would happen or if he's been caught off guard. I think that's the bigger question. That would say a lot about whether Harbaugh was a good faith actor or whether he couldn't care less about a program he claims to love.
February 6th, 2024 at 8:10 PM ^
Sherrone is clueless. He literally stated that he was “very confident” that Herbert was returning. 24 hours later, Herbert bolted. He is way in over his head and Warde is a fcking worthless piece of shit. And believe me, the players know this.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:51 PM ^
Because hiring someone else would have...checks notes on critique…resulted in even less continuity of staff.
Nobody knows if Harbaugh and Moore have discussed who he wanted to take or who Moore may want.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:57 PM ^
They would have brought in their own staff.
Here we see a staff falling apart while a newbie coach flounders in his search to hire people. Unbelievable.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:03 PM ^
I don't see Moore floundering. The search has been very quiet, and I don't trust anyone claiming to have insider info. Unless it came from the horse's mouth, I'm not buying any of it. We've been burned so, so many times this season by so-called insiders. I think there's a lot of speculation here, all negative of course. Not surprising from this fanbase. It's either fantastic or the world is ending.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:13 PM ^
I see floundering. It’s quiet because he can’t get anyone worth a damn to join his staff.
UM will have to settle for a bunch of retreads and mediocre younger coaches like Kirk Campbell.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:40 PM ^
He was searching to hire people while he already had people under contract?
interesting
February 6th, 2024 at 5:52 PM ^
You would be bitching if they hired someone else and then all the top remaining players transferred.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:55 PM ^
They are transferring anyways.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:47 PM ^
I’m not saying we shouldn’t have hired Moore, but at the same time, if he didn’t have his staff lined up then we should’ve done a comprehensive coaching search. If you’re going to lose recruits, assistant coaches, and potentially current players, then what was the advantage of skipping the search and promoting Moore? We currently have all the negative ramifications of long drawn out search, without any of the advantages of avoiding it.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:40 PM ^
He had his whole staff lined up bc they were all already here.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:41 PM ^
The problem of hiring a head coach from within versus a head coach from the outside is that a head coach from the outside will bring most of his staff with him, ala BeBoer.
Sherrone has no outside staff to "bring in", so when he loses his own staff there are no replacements at hand.
Michigan is going to have to shop for a complete defensive staff . . . go hire a top Defensive Coordinator and have him bring his staff with him. We have the money, we aren't spending it on retaining our own people.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:54 PM ^
Do you think he hasn’t been since he was hired? Or do we just imagine Moore sitting around being surprised by guys he works closely with getting new jobs?
Elston has been on the recruiting trail all the way up to today. So I would hope and believe there has been communication amongst all parties that matter (coaches, players, recruits)
February 6th, 2024 at 6:20 PM ^
I think he has been caught flatfooted by some of these departures.
Otherwise, if he knew weeks ago that these guys were indeed going to leave, he would have been able to make some replacement moves by now.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:25 PM ^
I agree with the whole notion. But how in anyway, shape or form is chargers and Michigan one team together after all this?
February 6th, 2024 at 6:44 PM ^
We're both the same. Neither of us is going to win the Championship next year.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:50 PM ^
The amount of time/consideration that 'proven winners' Lance Liepold, Matt Campbell, and Brian Kelly would garner would make us all puke until death.
Honestly seeing Alabama's prospects *if* Deboer said no actually made me a bit terrified of a National search...
February 6th, 2024 at 5:35 PM ^
He was just on the road recruiting I thought and him being the recruiting coordinator, thats tough to lose him at this juncture.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:37 PM ^
Maybe this is why SM went hard after the ND guy???
February 6th, 2024 at 5:35 PM ^
Pretty sure we're not allowed to complain about this because UM won the natty so nothing is wrong and also Warde is doing great.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:52 PM ^
It's weird to blame Warde for all of this when it's Harbaugh doing the poaching. Everyone seems to think Warde has the power to "lock him down." They thought that about Harbaugh, too, which was wrong. Harbaugh can't be locked down by anyone, anywhere.
February 6th, 2024 at 6:02 PM ^
Warde has the power to pay up for talent but he doesn't seem interested in that.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:55 PM ^
Yes. When commenting on the future you need to stop immediately because you just won a Championship. Forget losing the coaches that developed that defense that held Washington to 13 because they are all but gone. Wtf is wrong with Warde and our athletic department? You ever seen Bama football, Georgia football, Duke basketball ever raided by the pros? Warde is getting his ass handed to him year after year and now day after day.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:06 PM ^
Duke basketball? For all the success he had, Coach K had, overall, a pretty mediocre coaching tree.
February 6th, 2024 at 7:25 PM ^
Duke did what it took to keep Coach K there. Its not just bad luck that pulled Bakich, Harbaugh, Beilein, Herbert, Elston, and Minter away from our program. Sure there is some wanting to go by coaches but I promise lifetime college guys like Elston and Herbert got fuck all from Warde to keep them here. All these power houses lost coaches due to scandal or retirement and that is IT. Not one scandal or retirement in that entire group I mentioned.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:59 PM ^
Pretty sure people are allowed to panic all they want and continue to always go to the worst place with all this sad news. Pretty sure people are allowed to not be negative and work to balance the BPONE from the most emotional fans, too.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:36 PM ^
Uggh!
The strength of this team lies in the talent of the d-line. I hope this doesn't cause them to go elsewhere.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:36 PM ^
Instead of OSU focusing on sign gate, they should have encouraged us to win National Championship. Same results. Our program being ripped apart…
February 6th, 2024 at 5:36 PM ^
Damn ! Portal about to kill us :(
February 6th, 2024 at 5:43 PM ^
Yup...Grant and Graham probably gone soon
Fuck...next year might be ugly.
February 6th, 2024 at 5:36 PM ^
I can't wait to read the book on this season. What a fucking ride!!!
February 6th, 2024 at 5:36 PM ^
Fuck, Harbaugh is decimating his "beloved" Michigan program.
How much longer can we keep our key players on Defense when all of their coaches are leaving?
