Early Rose Bowl Score Predictions?

Submitted by Mineral King on December 6th, 2023 at 1:48 PM

Michigan 27-21.

I cant bet against these guys. We have to keep Milroes legs in check. I think we do just enough to get it done and Saban cant believe it, this leading to our victory because he will be over confident and Milroe will make a crucial mistake and Saban will refuse to repect us, which will cause some failed fourth downs and zero field goal attempts by them.

I believe it'll be a lower scoring affair, similar to the Alabama Auburn game. Michigan knows Bama can't stop the run, so they'll go ball control until they don't have to. I think it could open up based on flukey turnovers, broken scrambles, but I'm guessing 35-24 Michigan with one pick 6.

I think Michigan is going to be able to drive the ball. I think their whole "Georgia Drill" is why they have basically used Edwards as a decoy all year long, and really downplayed play action.

Michigan hits 2-3 deep play action shots, Edwards gets a wheel route from the slot after they start the game using him as a decoy again , and the ground and pound of Corum wears Bama down and shortens the possessions.

Michigan 31- Bama 17

Michigan 50 Alabama 46 in triple overtime

Both teams have stellar plays both offensively and defensively, taking it into overtime. We can't get the two-point conversion, but they can't get the TD and everybody falls on their back completely exhausted.

Hate to burst your bubble but there have been new OT rules for a few years. There's only 2-point conversions beginning in the third OT. No drives at all, you just line up for the 2 as though you've already scored a TD.

Now in the 2nd OT, if you score a TD, you have to go for 2, so you could have the idea that we score a TD, but fail a conversion, but still win, in the 2nd OT. But that would seem to be a 6-point win, not a 4-point win like you have.

However, I believe in the third OT, if we score our 2 point conversion, and then we intercept Bama's attempt and return it all the way, we would win by 4. So let's say that's what happened, 50-46.

UM 34 - Bama 13

Harbaugh's Magnum Opus after years of falling flat in Bowl games.

"Harbaugh can't win the big one or beat OSU!!!!!" - Proceeds to threepeat

"Harbaugh can't win Bowl Games!!!" - Will break the narrative this post season.

JJ throws for 250 + on a bunch of deep outs, TE crossers, and D Edwards tunnel screens and a couple wheel routes.

O-line looks much improved and healthy - Corum + JJ go for 125 + yards combined rushing

Defense is stout.  Some annoying Milroe runs keep drives alive for Bama, but they struggle in the redzone and can't sustain drives.

23-20 Alabama.  I'll believe Michigan can win a big January game when I see it. I think Michigan gets a slow start, burns a bunch of 1st downs on runs into stacked boxes.  Alabama scores 14 in the first half but adjustments are made and they get held to a few field goals in the 2nd half.  Michigan offense wakes up in the second half but the initial lead is too much to overcome.

Yup, pretty much my take as well. UM will have some new stuff that will work for a couple plays, but I expect mostly lighting 1st and 2nd downs on fire and praying JJ can bail us out on 3rd downs. Everyone will be frustrated, just like the LLoyd years except a tad more creativity, and 'Bama will win without the game ever really being in doubt.

28-24 Michigan

Junior Colson flashes his NFL measurables multiple times making us wonder where that has been  and Mikey comes up with a big play somewhere in the game to change momentum.

The Don has him a game in the biggest of games of the season!

We win 27-16 and after the game, all the players name Orji the MVP for his stellar Milroe impression in bowl practice.

FYI, for all these people talking about Michigan didn't have a mobile QB like Milroe on their schedule, they forget the one they go up against every day in practice.

26-24 Good Guys. D does enough to contain Milroe and force a turnover or two. Special Teams is a net positive for us. Offense struggles to find consistency. A lot of drives stall out leading to field goals. Eventually we put together a drive to either score the winning TD or FG. It won't be pretty, it won't be flashy, but on 12/06 I think we win this game by 2.

Do I get to make two guesses?

1) Assuming Michigan has secretly been holding back play-action and targeting Donovan Edwards when he gets matched up with a linebacker - 35-24 good guys.

2) Michigan keeps doing what we've seen all year, but McCarthy doesn't get away with those 2-3 'WTF are you doing' moments and Alabama capitalizes on a turnover or two. 31-24 Alabama.

Alabama - 41

Michigan - 31

Call me a pessimist. Call me a cynic. That's fine, but I've had a bad feeling about this matchup since the second it was announced. I would rather have played almost anyone else. No, its not your older brother's Alabama team. But its still Nick Saban. And we have his complete, undivided attention for a whole month.

It's still an army of 5* MonStars that Alabama has at every level and every position group.

Its still an incredibly dangerous mobile QB who I'm fully expecting to convert at least one 3rd and forever with his legs that will not allow Michigan's defense off the field when they absolutely need to. Its going to be one of those moments where Michigan just scored a TD that gets them within 3-7 points late in the game, the Michigan side of the stadium is rocking, and then Milroe converts a 3rd and 15 by making the scramble of his life and no one can bring him down until its already too late. Its very much going to be a "Throw your remote at the TV in a blind rage and break the screen" kind of moment.

Michigan has a path to victory against this Alabama team. They can win, and its not a pipe dream. Its more than a puncher's chance for sure, but they have to play near mistake-free football, because I don't expect a Nick Saban team, in this type of game, to make mistakes. Honestly, even just one mistake in this game can Michigan in. This is not a team like TCU where you can commit multiple mistakes and still be in the game at the end.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong. I will take my crow and eat with a smile. But even disregarding Michigan's absolutely dreadful performances in the postseason....you still have to beat Nick freaking Saban.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Lol just calling you what you wanted … for me if we play with the Iowa offensive game plan we lose … Edwards must be used out in the slot and downfield… unless he still isn’t 100% JJ must be called on to run on multiple occasions … defensively it’s simple we need to contain Milroe and his runs,  especially scrambling … this isn’t a great Bama team but still they are Bama with 5 stars all over their 22 and bench plus Satan coaching them !!!

35-34.  UM.  Same score as Brady’s 2000 Orange Bowl win over Bama which was the single greatest QB performance in UM history if you ask me.  JJ channels the GOAT TB12 to fit several tight windows for receivers who simply cannot separate against Bama talent.

Michigan 34- Alabama 23

Alabama scores 5 times but has to settle for 3 field goals on drives that stall in FG range.

Michigan has 4 TDs along with 2 field goals!

This could go two ways.....the use of JJ is the key. Alabama will get some big plays on our defense, so they will score somewhere around 24 or 27.

If we go back to the game planning earlier in the year, with a better run/pass balance, I could see us winning 27-24.

If we stick with what's been happening the last four weeks, then I see something like 27-23 Alabama.

C'mon Jim, go all-in. It's the only way in the CFP.

I think we win a game that feels much like The Game where we mostly feel in control but always highly-anxious and one score away from losing.

Michigan 27-24

with 'Bama getting a late TD drive and then us recovering the onside kick.
