Dug out
Or "good."
Man, from the top rope. I did laugh out loud. I was considering some snark with turnover happens with this guy or the like.
I will miss Dug. He had to carry the entire team far too much this year. He is such a quick and talented guard. I hope he excels elsewhere, and I bet that he will.
Who is still technically* on the roster for next year?
Jace
Burnett
Tschetter
Reed
Khayat
Phat Phat
Anderson
Jace.
You said “technically.”
Edit: Was Jace always there in the list? If so I missed it. Sorry.
Well done with the qualifier there, incidentally.
Theoretically, the portal would also allow a new coach to build something - operative word - that we could at least wheel out there next season, but still....
I thought Kayat was almost out door already too.
If the stuff about how he treated the staff is true, Jace should be shown the door too
I think a lot of midling grad xfers will come here with a solid coach. Getting a UM grad degree is pretty good incentive.
Grad transfers definitely need to be part of the roster's composition for next season. Hopefully, they'll grasp the key tenets of the next system - and bring their maturity and experience to the floor.
Most grad transfers enroll in certificate programs, not master’s degree programs.
Grad transfers do not pursue grad degrees.
That would require two yrs, and they get one year.
Unless you know of a one year degree

Next yr is going to be so LOL. Get the coach hire right and just close your eyes until Nov 25.
I know he was our best player this year, but this is a good thing. He is a ball dominant guard who struggles to have an impact off ball, has an obscene turnover rate and doesn't play defense. He was a fun player to watch on a bad team, but the future needs a better leader at PG.
Hard to have an impact off ball when he was the only primary ball handler we had on the roster!
He wasn't good at facilitating either. I was hoping for a Z Simpson leap.
He had no one to pass to

Warde wouldn't let him drive him car....
/ducks
This may be way off but I saw him as a “me” guy more than positive team-chemistry guy.
Hope he goes to class at his next school
Probably transfers so he doesn't have to go to class
I heard Arizona is a good school for ...uh no school. Not sure Caleb Love is spending much time in a classroom. No judge, just saying.
He's a very talented player... but he needs to drop that "me first" attitude.
Best of luck Dug.
Dug would've been a blast to watch if only he was on one of the good michigan teams. I'm sure he'll be getting a big NIL offer.
IDK. I think he is a gamble in a few different ways.
I enjoyed watching him even in these dismal seasons. I would've enjoyed it even more if he'd been a role player or change-of-pace guy on a good team.
Dug never would have been on a good Michigan team. Guys who turn the ball over that much and don't play defense don't play on good teams.
Maybe his turnovers came from being forced to be the entire offense due to the poor roster construction?
The defense was a team/ coaching issue. The transfers came in and were good defenders at previous stops and awful this year.
JB would have made dug an all conference player.
Maybe? But, IMO you're spot on with the coaching issue. The number of times he simply threw the ball away speaks much more to his own poor decision-making (that was never effectively addressed by coaches) and lack of fundamentals (that was never taught by coaches) than to whom he was trying to pass the ball.
I appreciate trying to find the positives, and Dug had many, but the turnovers came from trying to make passes that weren't there and sometimes trying to do the spectacular when doing the fundamental thing would have lead to success.
I know everyone fawns over Beilein because of what he accomplished, but he couldn't fix everything. I doubt he would have even recruited Dug. Had he inherited him, he certainly wouldn't have played him until Dug was willing to change his game and who knows if that would have ever happened which means Dug still would be hitting the portal.
Beilein might not have even played him yet alone started him. Beilein liked point guards who could facilitate and play D.
Least shocking transfer since Cade.
I know I'm in the minority here, but I couldn't care less if the entire team transferred. At this point it seems like a complete clean slate is what the program needs. I have nothing against the current players and if they stay I'm fine with that, but if they all left I wouldn't be disappointed either.
100% this.
Tschetter seemed into it
Into what?
For being a big who is supposed to be all about hustle he gets winded very quickly and has no clue how to box out. That later one still pisses me off the most about him. He is not a fluid athlete, you would think the one thing he would have figured out by now was how to ID someone and put his butt on them when the shot goes up. Instead he goes for the rebound and often times allows more athletic players to elevate over him to get the board. Again, and again, and again....drove me nuts!
Sorry, you hit a nerve on that one.
No, you're right. But he's one of the only players who showed any emotion during the game, so compared to his teammates he seemed to care more. But you're right, he got the doors blown off him repeatedly and there are no excuses for that.

Dug wouldn't play more than 11 minutes on a peak B team
Look at all the guards who swam circles around him the last 15 years. People are propping him up because he is a volume guy on an awful team. Walton Simpson Bufkin Burke Brooks... uh and yeah Dug. Don't get me started on the off guards.
The roster is a joke and so will next year's with 10 transfers. I know it worked for whatever the hell in the Big 12 but admissions gonna ruin this next coach's 2024-2025. Looking forward to 25-26.
I don't get why the portal starts so early. It should commence at the conclusion of the NCAA tournament to provide a level playing field for teams and players. It doesn't make sense.
I don't disagree, but it is for all the kids who's season is already over. They can get started on finding their new team.
Unlike football where there are 120+ teams, there are 300+ D1 college teams. The large majority of basketball players are not playing at this point.
But oh the poor coaches! At least the talking heads on the selection show said it makes it sooo much harder on coaches in the tournament to also watch the portal for candidates. Geez, does no one delegate?

Won't anyone think of the coaches???
May have been a foregone conclusion no matter what happened with Howard.
He'll be at the top of the portal rankings I would assume. High-major college PG with 2 years of starter experience and probably not a flight risk after one year? I'm sure a lot of programs will be lining up for his services.
Dug most likely will now be given more NIL money and the threat of academic suspension will be non-existent. Pretty much a no-brainer on his end.

Up there with Dug is gonna leave for the league after 2 good games in November 23. cmon man. Guy cant guard anyone over 6'2.
Wait.... did someone just say Warde needs to act quickly, to salvage the roster.....
I thought everyone was complaining that there wasn't much talent on the roster, Juwan can't recruit....
There will be a new coach, he will bring new players, the kind of players that he needs to run his system.
I'd rather have Warde take his time and get the right coach, rather than hurry and get the wrong one. Besides, T.J. is kinda busy right now.
Where can he go where they don't play skool?
This would have happened with or without Juwan. I wonder how many of his credits will transfer?
Bye. He was not good anyway.
Good luck to a guy who clearly didn't want to play school.
Hope Reed stays. But it's basically going to be a whole new team next season with a new system.
We might hang on to someone like Yoyo, but I have to believe we'll have almost an entirely new roster next season.
