Deserved to lose. Historically horrible game.

49 points is high school stuff.

Great season but tonight was ridiculous.

Hats off to UCLA.

  • 3-11 from the 3 point line
  • 39.2% from the field
  • 54.5% from the stripe
  • 14 turnovers
  • Only one starter in double-digit points
  • Two of your best starters combining for 7 points
  • 0-8 on your last 8 shots
  • Wagner just jacking up a shit three at the worst possible time when all they needed was a high percentage basket at the rim

Yeah...that’s not going to get it done. Unbelievably fantastic season. Terrible effort tonight.

Just keep letting Wagner take the potential game winning shots even though he was ice fucking cold.  Brown was 2 for 3 from three and should have been given the shot.  Austin Davis was playing well and we put Dickinson back in to miss two easy put backs that would have won the game.  Horrible Coaching

Great season.  You only get so many chances to win a competitive sporting event.  Michigan had many missed put backs, lay ups, and shot poorly from free throw line.  Buzz kill ending, but it was a fun, valiant ride without Isaiah.  Proud of the team.  Michigan Basketball   heading in a good direction.

“We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled the 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling "consciousness expansion" without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force - is tending the light at the end of the tunnel. Agree. Hats off to UCLA. What a story and what a run they are on.

Michigan should have easily been ahead by 15+ early on, which would might have possibly thrown UCLA completely out of their game plan, but NOPE.

All of the missed free throws were just salt in the wound.

Just a sour way to lose a game to advance to the Final 4 (against the #11 seed)

It's not a personal attack.  The way they played, whether it was from a player or coaching perspective, they deserved to lose.  I have a feeling they would say the same.  Nobody's sending death threats a la OSU fans here.  Think about the beautiful ball movement and wide open looks we've been watching for months.  Play like we've been playing and we would've beaten that quite one dimensional team by 25.  The only way for this team to lose to that team was for us to play a terrible game, and that's what happened.  Thus, they deserved to lose.

I love our guys but they choked. This loss hurts and my heart goes out to them, but 3 missed somewhat contested layups and an airballed 3? Also the missed FTs?

Coach Howard was right about them needing to settle down. Maybe it was the pressure bc there's no prime scorer/leader on the court.

It actually made a lot of sense. They're awful at half court offense. We're good at half court offense. The strategy wasn't bad. We just got Juzang'd. If any of our stars had 25% of the game he had, it's an easy W. Our NBA prospect went 1-10. Our Freshman phenom had 4 turnovers. Is what it is.

Smith took the penultimate shot, and had a good look. Wagner took the last miracle shot, not sure you can judge any shot with only 0.5 seconds left

You are not going to win many games when:

1) You miss free throws.

2) You miss layups.

3) Franz Wagner shoots 1-10.

4) Mike Smith plays poorly and gets benched midway through the second half. (Again)

4) You lose the turnover battle.

5) The officials don’t review the most aggregious hook and hold I’ve seen to date. (Sure could of used those points).

Great Season. Looking toward the future! Glad we have Juwan and feel super bad for those that won’t return next season.

GO BLUE!!

#5.   Seriously. Plus,

1) the “make up” call of a okay that was called correctly.

2) the other charge call where the defender got to about 45 degrees

3) the moving screen on Hunter

4) no moving screens on UCLA on their double screens along the baseline

at least there was nothing in the final 5+ minutes.  The team had plenty of chances.

The hook and hold not even being reviewed was bizzare for sure. As was a blatant make up call that was not remotely a good call for a correct non call. But like you said the refs largely stayed out of the way the last 5 min and it came down to UM not making anything down the stretch.

They certainly did not deserve to win.

It was a fair result.  Their best shooters hit shots. Ours . . .did not. Over and over and over.

The moment was too big.

I am glad I ditched cable. Got to watch them play pretty well and reach the final eight, and couldn't watch whatever this was.

Illinois is so happy they're raising another banner. Apparently they wrote a letter claiming they gain a co-Final Four appearance for being the 1-seed that lost to the best lower seed.

Great strides, though. Even though this is disappointing, Juwan Howard is clearly building a powerhouse here.

How in the world is Franz Wagner considered a first round pro? He constantly disappears in big games. He has no mental ice. He freaks himself out after a couple of misses in a row. You can't count on him.

i was surprised frankly that they went back to Franz after he air mailed his first 3 attempt... shocked they didn't go into the post with 20s left on the clock and down by 1.

Smith's running 3 was Hero Ball at its worst and the catch and shoot was a good play, but i would have had Eli or Brown shooting it as Franz wasn't good all game.

In the following days, I'll think the Elite Eight was pretty good for a team without Livers...but right now? That game was Michigan's for the taking, but could not buy a bucket in the last two minutes.

Fuck UCLA. I hope the Zags curb stomp them by 20...i'll even cheer Timmie flexing on them

Yup I was ready to assume the David and Goliath storyline on Saturday, but now I'm cheering for Goliath. Go shit on everyone, Gonzaga. And make the only story of the season be your undefeated season. UCLA has the weirdest fans I've ever seen in a stadium and it's at least comforting to know that nobody left in that stadium even knew what they were celebrating about when the buzzer sounded. Country club creeps

UCLA got 2 decent shots off in the final 5 minutes (went 1 for 2) along with a couple of TOs.   Michigan had 6 good looks plus 2 more that led to FTs.

shooting aside (and, yes, it matters), Michigan outplayed them in the final 5 minutes.

Well, this is one of the reasons why I don't talk too overconfident about the outcome of some NCAA basketball tournament games.

I've watched kids choke, play tight, shoot cold and their team get upset for many years in this tournament.

In fact, that happened a lot with higher seeded teams this year.

You never know when certain guys will fall to the tournament pressure.

Though you're hoping it won't be pretty much your whole team falling apart and somebody will do enough to win the game.

UCLA is a decent team, but they benefited greatly from Alabama and Michigan flat out choking and falling apart against them.

Michigan had a bad night. Legs? Pressure? Late start? Who knows? Bad nights happen. You wish it wasn't in the tournament, but it was. UM won bad nights like that during the season because that one guy always came through. Probably that one guy should have been Livers - if only to slow UCLA's one scorer down a little.

Oh well. Looking forward to what Howard puts on the floor in the fall. Go Blue.

100% correct.  I wouldn't even say hats off to UCLA.  They are not a very good team.  Well probably above average.  But we had to pretty much have everyone play tight for them to even have a chance.  And that's what happened.  Give Chaundee the rock!  He's the only one who played fearlessly the entire post-season.  Still a great season and love this team.  GO BLUE!

The most horrible game I've ever had was when I just started gambling and I managed to lose twice as much as I bet. At that point, I haven't known about the main rules of the casinos and I was just a beginner. Now I know that thinking about a casino as an opportunity not to work is stupid, and now I gamble at casinos from here just to spend some time with pleasure and maybe profit just a little bit.
