can we just get an athletic dept uber fund? this is the dumbest way to get in trouble, not to mention incredibly dangerous. probably better uses of money exist, but tathastu
i always have thought it's curious how we don't really have any cheers/chant/iconography/logos around the word "wolverines" outside of "it's great to be a michigan wolverine" and the helmet sticker. like having one endzone at the bighouse say "WOLVERINES" instead of "MICHIGAN" would be rather jarring to me. I remember during the adidas era, one year the basketball team had a maize jersey that said "WOLVERINES" on it and i kept thinking how weird it looked.
it’s a catch 22. NFL is the highest level of football. If you are a good coach you will want to try the NFL eventually. If they don’t have pro aspirations, I can’t see them being appealing as candidates.
A young DB coach with NFL and Harbaugh-Michigan experience is about as good as it gets. DeMeco Ryans is one of the better young coaches in the NFL so I’m pretty pumped about this hire from context alone.
I dunno about that. During the temporary restraining order kerfuffle I came to the conclusion that one out of every three posters here was, in fact, a practicing attorney and seemingly pretty damn good ones.
another third are doctors lol. On Twitter a Michigan fan posted a question about a dosage of antibiotics and like three Michigan MDs responded.
Titans I guess since I live in Nashville suburbs, but I’ve also lived in SoCal previously, and dammit I still like Harbaugh so willing to adopt the chargers as my second team (from MI originally so lions still first).
I also care about the Lions/nfl a fraction of what I care about Michigan. So caveat applies as to what that actually means of having a second team.
OMG THANK YOU. I’m by no means a Warde apologist and am fine if he doesn’t return to the role next year, but holy hell, the revisionism that was going on with regard to the Howard hire (which happened after Beilein resigned in May, well after all the top coaching candidates signed new contracts), Bakich, the Pearson scandal, and even Harbaugh’s post 2020 and post 2021 contracts was giving me whiplash.
Remember Bacon was at UM at the same time as Harbaugh - part of the reason he was so tuned in during the hiring in 2014 is because he had a lot of contacts in that era’s alumni circle. A lot of his stuff comes from that side of the equation
Bacon:Harbaugh::Sam Webb:Ath. Dept.
we’ll probably never know what happened during the negotiations, but it’s probably somewhere in the middle of what each was saying. Ultimately I think the biggest pull was the chance to win a Super Bowl with Justin Herbert. There’s a reason the Chargers were the only team seriously rumored wire to wire.
Campbell was acting OC when Moore was acting HC - if those were to be made permanent, I’d imagine Campbell would have more say in playcalling/gameplanning
+1 those blaming Warde specifically for this holdup simply don’t know ball - while Warde is in a position of power, he can’t just unilaterally give a coach a bulletproof $100M contract. If he hasn’t given Harbaugh a contract, it’s bc the BoR and Admin/legal simply hasn’t green lighted Harbaugh’s demands.
bro I watched all 12 games of Steven threet and Nick Sheridan in 2008. You could be the starting tailback next year and I’d still watch gleefully. I’m with whoever will be there.
that being said, Graham 1 + 2, Mullings, Loveland, Semaj, Will Johnson, Hausmann, and whoever the qb is.
Not trying to get people’s hopes up, but I believe accepting invites at this point is not a formal draft declaration. Again not to say those with eligibility remaining won’t leave, just that a return is not yet forgone.
sometimes kids just wanna leave. i'm from northville, and in addition to the standard umich, msu, cmu, gvsu etc we had some kids go to bama and uga just to play school

… I get that it’s a song, but have you been to Dallas?
best wishes to both
thanks for... doing your job?
Wait, what was the Bob Shoop situation? I remember he was on staff for like a month in 2020 and then left, but never dug into the backstory.
wtf wtf wtf he played when i was in school - i remember him walking through the crowd during a pep rally on the diag a night or two before a game.
rip.
for a first time ST coordinator seems about right, tho.

Oh let’s absolutely go

The younger crowd cut their teeth on Late Carr, Rodriguez, and Hoke lol

As much as I hate to say, MSU can outbid UCLA
The fans collectively overlooked it for good, obvious reasons, but Harbaugh is rather famously a dick.
To be clear, I’m appreciative of his time here and am eternally grateful for the natty, but yeah, Harbaugh can be a dick.
He was with the chargers previously so staying in the NFL was probably always his plan
Vince Marrow - but even Harbaugh swung and missed on him a couple times.
Maybe clink takes over the secondary or Bellamy goes to safeties
I mean sherrone hasn’t gone anywhere so if Campbell called sherrone’s script well, isn’t that a good thing?
Ope. Let’s try that link again.

paying $6 to watch this michigan team play a 9p ET weeknight game on a streaming device against a favored rival is a bridge too far for me
all i'm gonna say is i had that one month $1 on3 trial during the peak of signgate, and not a single thing reported over there ended up being true.
Difference is I don’t think Moore will be claiming he hit a triple.
In the state of Michigan, the Board of Regents/Trustees/Governors for UM, MSU, and Wayne State are elected statewide - they're politicians first.
David Shaw won 3 Pac-12 Titles and 2 Rose Bowls his first 6 years... we could do a lot worse than that.

HM what Moeller could’ve been had he gotten a 10-15 year tenure.
Michigan has never fired coaches mid-season. If he’s still coaching next season, then I will agree.
I mean, it didn’t seem like anyone else wanted him… maybe Atlanta?

i have terrible news for you with regard to whom universities prefer to hire for administrative roles

Schefter tweeted it out, too. C'est la vie. Thanks for the greatest Michigan football season of my lifetime. Go win a Super Bowl.
I mean he did play for the chargers (albeit in San Diego) when he had young kids. Orange County wouldn’t be too much of a jump.

they were never in the Big East, but played mostly Big East teams every year. They weren't let in to the Big East for basketball reasons.

Body language/tone is everything. He went dad mode on Jake lol

Forgot to mention this was a national broadcast, aired on Fox.
He and his dad still post positively about Michigan so I assume there’s mutual respect. Obviously comes down to personnel needs/playing opportunities.
I feel like there’s two types of 5 stars and the type that go to programs like A&M/Ole Miss are not a good fit for Michigan.
