Cheers to Brian - Meta Feelingsball

Submitted by Other Andrew on

Brian’s been MGoBlogging for longer than most of us have done anything. Throughout that time, he’s had the pleasure of enduring two distinctly different horrific football failures in the tenures of RichRod and Hoke. Also throughout that time, he’s only had two seasons that could be considered “very good,” both of which ended in (distinctly different) crushing misery in Columbus.

He’s clearly disillusioned with the sport for many very good reasons. I am sure every fan shares these frustrations to varying degrees. He gets the added benefit of being internet yelled at whenever: he says something that turns out to be anything less than 100% correct, is even a smidge too optimistic about anything, doesn’t UFR a game, or Michigan plays badly.

And yet, we start a new season and he is BRINGING IT. Look at the breadth, depth, and quality of this content. You’re probably reading as much as you can make time for, and coming out of it both entertained and informed. And this with Ace sidelined at the moment. I just thought all this was worth mentioning.

Here’s to hoping the 2018 season is better than very good. Brian deserves it. (So do we.)

PS – beveled guilt and more ways to support.

Agreed. People take for granted how frigging amazing this blog is, and how rare among college fandoms a single-program-dedicated blog of this quality really is.

Great post. I wanted to start this but alas, I lack the points. I don't think I would have survived this week without the avalanche of content. Especially with Ace sidelined for a bit, I definitely appreciate Brian's (can't forget about Seth and Adam, also) efforts the last few weeks.

Sure, folks complain about the site and what not, but there's a reason we keep coming back.

I see you are one of those dumb asses that has been convinced the only view of the world is through the lens of politics.

Go be dumb in the comments section of a news website.

This is Brian's website, he can do whatever he wants and I for one am thankful I had to schedule many "Hold"'s on my calendar so I could keep up with the content this week.

Brian - you did not need to post this through a ghost account...

I'm kidding of course. Thank you for posting Other Andrew. I appreciate what Brian and staff have done with this blog over the years. I go here for all things CFB news first before other sites and although we've endured many double posts this off-season, I cannot get enough from the content posted by Brian and staff and users. Thanks to Brian and blog-family and Go Blue!!!

First of all, OP is a brown nose.

Second, I too have enjoyed this site and its original content for a number of years.  However, I think many of the site's regular or heavy users (read: junkies) spend much of their time here, on the board.  A board which seems to have lost a F-ton of traffic since I last regularly posted here at the end of last season.

I hope they get it sorted out.

Honestly, once you get past the quirks of posting, I actually like the content of the Board a lot better now.  There are far fewer trolls (yes, still rival fan posters but I am talking like the flat out M-live type trolls who are just trying to start shit with somebody), and the format of the threads does not lend itself as much to some of the ridiculous flame wars that populated the old blog.  I mean, a little spirited conversation is good, but the old Board was getting really crazy in its last couple of years and you don't see as much of that on here anymore.

Points have been starting and stopping like a 76 Chevette; hopefully that function will be back more sooner than later.  Seth also said that they should be dropping in some time-related stuff like you mention and, my fav, marking comments as NEW.  I was hoping that would be sorted out before the season so the site is a little less like a Skoda 110 when we get 500 comment threads, but...

Occasionally, I think about complaining that we haven't gotten a Hello thread for Tyrece Evans or something like that. Then I remember that I don't pay a dime for the best college team site on the internet, and I have to remind myself to shut my pie hole and be happy.

IF i see that grizzly of a man Brian lumbering down State street I'll be the first to give him a big sloppy wet kiss and a big ol' bear hug.  Not sure if the wife will appreciate it though, heheh

Remember when he took on Dave Brandon?  that was awesome.

I'm relying on his analysis when Don Brown was hired.  Year 3. . .(which starts tomorrow) is when Don Brown's defenses are full-out dominant.

I love this blog - but I am confused who it thinks I am with the ads.

It thinks I am interested in skimpy mens underwear, gay cruises AND in marrying Russian women or dating Arab women.  Make up your mind - am I into hot dudes or exotic women?

I know he farms out the ads, but what am I searching for on the internet to get these ads?

At what point does Denard Robinson Cook join the team? He's probably talking by now. He could at least be a podcast contributor. We need contingency plans to keep mgoblog going indefinitely

Indeed thanks to Brian, Ace, Seth and Adam.

I have no idea what I would do for M sports news without this blog. The depth of knowledge, dedication and passion is unrivaled and the quality of the writing without equal.

I wish every news outlet had your values and skill.
