Cheers to Brian - Meta Feelingsball
Brian’s been MGoBlogging for longer than most of us have done anything. Throughout that time, he’s had the pleasure of enduring two distinctly different horrific football failures in the tenures of RichRod and Hoke. Also throughout that time, he’s only had two seasons that could be considered “very good,” both of which ended in (distinctly different) crushing misery in Columbus.
He’s clearly disillusioned with the sport for many very good reasons. I am sure every fan shares these frustrations to varying degrees. He gets the added benefit of being internet yelled at whenever: he says something that turns out to be anything less than 100% correct, is even a smidge too optimistic about anything, doesn’t UFR a game, or Michigan plays badly.
And yet, we start a new season and he is BRINGING IT. Look at the breadth, depth, and quality of this content. You’re probably reading as much as you can make time for, and coming out of it both entertained and informed. And this with Ace sidelined at the moment. I just thought all this was worth mentioning.
Here’s to hoping the 2018 season is better than very good. Brian deserves it. (So do we.)
PS – beveled guilt and more ways to support.
Go Blue!

Agreed. People take for granted how frigging amazing this blog is, and how rare among college fandoms a single-program-dedicated blog of this quality really is.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:38 AM ^
We’re Michigan fans; we aren’t happy until we have something to gripe about.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:31 AM ^
Kiss Ass!!!
(Otherwise I agree...)
August 31st, 2018 at 10:33 AM ^
He's trying to be bumped up to "First Andrew."
August 31st, 2018 at 10:33 AM ^
Lost me at "too optimistic" lol.

Brian Cook is my spirit animal
August 31st, 2018 at 10:34 AM ^
Great post. I wanted to start this but alas, I lack the points. I don't think I would have survived this week without the avalanche of content. Especially with Ace sidelined for a bit, I definitely appreciate Brian's (can't forget about Seth and Adam, also) efforts the last few weeks.
Sure, folks complain about the site and what not, but there's a reason we keep coming back.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:36 AM ^
The politics has been especially insightful.
NOT.
Thanks for this blog.
Go Blue.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:39 AM ^
Step 1: Go to board post specifically made to praise the good things the blog does in response to all the bitching.
Step 2: Bitch about stuff.
Step 3: ???
August 31st, 2018 at 10:41 AM ^
If the Internet has taught me anything, the last step is always "Profit".
August 31st, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
Pretty sure Step 3 is Profit

Step one-steal underwear
August 31st, 2018 at 10:57 AM ^
First off, no one forces you to read the politics. Second, thanks to Brian et. al. for this blog.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:16 AM ^
I see you are one of those dumb asses that has been convinced the only view of the world is through the lens of politics.
Go be dumb in the comments section of a news website.
This is Brian's website, he can do whatever he wants and I for one am thankful I had to schedule many "Hold"'s on my calendar so I could keep up with the content this week.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:37 AM ^
Brian - you did not need to post this through a ghost account...
I'm kidding of course. Thank you for posting Other Andrew. I appreciate what Brian and staff have done with this blog over the years. I go here for all things CFB news first before other sites and although we've endured many double posts this off-season, I cannot get enough from the content posted by Brian and staff and users. Thanks to Brian and blog-family and Go Blue!!!
August 31st, 2018 at 10:37 AM ^
Well said. His content/this blog's content is such a great addition to following Michigan both during the season and in the off season.
Keep up the great work guys!

How can you not love a face like that?!
Didn't get a chance to shake your hand again when you were in Chicago and thank you for MGoBlog and all you, but please accept this virtual handshake and thanks.

I think we have a new site banner!
August 31st, 2018 at 10:46 AM ^
Brian killed it at the Q&A session last night - really interesting and insightful answers!
August 31st, 2018 at 11:45 AM ^
Yeah Brian actually had no sarcasm last night ( probably too tired because all the late nights and because young Denard Cook). Special shout out to Matt Demorest for hosting(free beer] and Scratch BBQ ... the food was better than last year and I’d say much better than Slo’s.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:48 AM ^
Well said. We definitely take all his efforts, especially how his life and priorities have evolved, for grant-perry-'ed.

August 31st, 2018 at 10:55 AM ^
Nice post, mrs. Cook.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:55 AM ^
Does this mean people are done bitching about the new blog?
August 31st, 2018 at 12:25 PM ^
You've been around long enough to know that people will never be done bitching about this blog, whether 2.0, 3.0, or whatever iteration we get to.
August 31st, 2018 at 10:55 AM ^
This should replace the posbang...
Thank you Brian!

First of all, OP is a brown nose.
Second, I too have enjoyed this site and its original content for a number of years. However, I think many of the site's regular or heavy users (read: junkies) spend much of their time here, on the board. A board which seems to have lost a F-ton of traffic since I last regularly posted here at the end of last season.
I hope they get it sorted out.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:08 AM ^
Honestly, once you get past the quirks of posting, I actually like the content of the Board a lot better now. There are far fewer trolls (yes, still rival fan posters but I am talking like the flat out M-live type trolls who are just trying to start shit with somebody), and the format of the threads does not lend itself as much to some of the ridiculous flame wars that populated the old blog. I mean, a little spirited conversation is good, but the old Board was getting really crazy in its last couple of years and you don't see as much of that on here anymore.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:15 AM ^
Without some trolls LSA will be out of a job!
August 31st, 2018 at 11:14 AM ^
I don't know how you sort people feeling completely apathetic about football in the wake of last seasons disaster.
Get the excitement back and board traffic will go back up. Get the points system sorted out again and it'll inch up a bit more.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:17 AM ^
Maybe. It just seems like a clunky design with fewer features than the old board had. I liked knowing how old a thread was and who started it.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:59 AM ^
Points have been starting and stopping like a 76 Chevette; hopefully that function will be back more sooner than later. Seth also said that they should be dropping in some time-related stuff like you mention and, my fav, marking comments as NEW. I was hoping that would be sorted out before the season so the site is a little less like a Skoda 110 when we get 500 comment threads, but...
August 31st, 2018 at 11:03 AM ^
Occasionally, I think about complaining that we haven't gotten a Hello thread for Tyrece Evans or something like that. Then I remember that I don't pay a dime for the best college team site on the internet, and I have to remind myself to shut my pie hole and be happy.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:08 AM ^
I wear my MGoBlog shirt adorned with photobomb Brian with pride.
Thank you to the whole MGB crew. Damn good work.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:09 AM ^
IF i see that grizzly of a man Brian lumbering down State street I'll be the first to give him a big sloppy wet kiss and a big ol' bear hug. Not sure if the wife will appreciate it though, heheh
August 31st, 2018 at 11:19 AM ^
Just make sure you kiss him on the lips or Don Brown will get after you.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:18 AM ^
Remember when he took on Dave Brandon? that was awesome.
I'm relying on his analysis when Don Brown was hired. Year 3. . .(which starts tomorrow) is when Don Brown's defenses are full-out dominant.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:20 AM ^
If year 3 of a Don Brown defense is full-out dominant, what has the last two years been?
August 31st, 2018 at 11:29 AM ^
Nice try Brian.
August 31st, 2018 at 11:40 AM ^
I came here to snark but really its true. The content has been excellent the past 2 weeks. Then again maybe it was just a loooooooong off season.

I love this blog - but I am confused who it thinks I am with the ads.
It thinks I am interested in skimpy mens underwear, gay cruises AND in marrying Russian women or dating Arab women. Make up your mind - am I into hot dudes or exotic women?
I know he farms out the ads, but what am I searching for on the internet to get these ads?

Protip: Stop searching "skimpy mens underwear, gay cruises, and marrying Russian women or dating Arab women" on the internet.
Duh.

Here you go - this is one from 5 minutes ago...if I wore these, my wife would either divorce me or get some side action for sure:

At what point does Denard Robinson Cook join the team? He's probably talking by now. He could at least be a podcast contributor. We need contingency plans to keep mgoblog going indefinitely
August 31st, 2018 at 1:35 PM ^
Indeed thanks to Brian, Ace, Seth and Adam.
I have no idea what I would do for M sports news without this blog. The depth of knowledge, dedication and passion is unrivaled and the quality of the writing without equal.
I wish every news outlet had your values and skill.
