I get the heart thing and I get the under 300 lbs thing but JFC it's the second half of the third round and the universally-acknowledged best DT in college football hasn't been drafted.

This is nuts, I have to believe he'll get drafted in like the 4th round or something, I can't believe someone who was projected like top 20 at one point can fall much further than that.

Darn - I truly feel bad for Mo. Whoever picks him up is going to get the steal of the draft. Hard worker - good character guy...sucks

Mo Hurst has lost so much money from all this. And his dream of being a first found pick. I guarantee in an era that didn't have social media and so much negative group think.. Mo would be picked in the first round and go out to kick some ass.

Well, social media loves to not tell the whole truth and just pass along headlines/sentences that reach millions. You could make the case that none of this has any effect on those who are drafting the players. But, I'm curious if some "weaker minded" front offices pass on him because they don't want their fanbase to think they just drafted a guy with a major heart condition. Mo has a heart condition but has been cleared to play. I cant say for certain obviously, I just feel like this wouldn't have become this big of an issue 10/20/30 years ago. I feel like he would have been drafted a while ago.

Who knows, just kicking stuff around here.

The NFL is just retarded. They let obvious picks fall just because of made up red flags. If Uofm and Harvard say he is fine and he has not had a serious problem his entire life....I wouldn’t even be worried.

Some scouts don't care what Michigan and Harvard doctors think and just wouldn't take a guy with a heart problem. Those scouts talk to reporters. Reporters circulate scout (not doctor)-fueled sentiment Mo's heart is bad. Teams read the rumors. Rinse, repeat.

The best example I can think of for this is Loren Woods in the NBA draft way back in the day. A fake health scare took him from the lottery to the 2nd round.

Mo may have failed his medical for some (or all) teams, but to say NFL teams don't pay attention to what they're hearing about other teams' decision making is nonsense.

If Team A hears Team B doesn't think Player X is draftable because of a medical issue, they have second thoughts about what their doctors may have missed/what may have come up in another examination.

stop talking, you have no idea how NFL team operates. They don't care about other team doctor. If they say he's fine, they will have him on the board regardless of the rumor. I've seen prospects with big time medical red flags that he was off some of the team's big board but was still drafted because he was cleared by the team doctors.

Team doctors only matters to the NFL team, not the rumor or Michigan/Harvard doctors.

Respectfully, I think you're full of shit on this "this is how NFL teams operate" stuff.

I'm just saying some teams would drop him on their boards upon seeing the McShay report (if they still had him on the board). It injects further doubt into the process. Also, not every NFL team had the chance to evaluate Mo with their doctors, so it absolutely has weight for them (as would the Michigan/Harvard reports).

Outside information does matter dude!

I thought the Kerryon pick was pretty good but I have no idea why we’d take a safety. Unless we’re going to grab some d lineman in the second round of free agency we’re going to be counting on 5th round talent to step in right away.
