If his heart condition was truly like Gathers he wouldn’t have been cleared by two sets of doctors. He may have a very mild form of it but that would mean his chances of sudden arrest would be much much much less too. Either the medical staffs are hiding something (very odd) or nfl teams are so risk averse with health issues. I don’t get the slide.
Mo Hurst's heart condition is similar to Nick Fairley who played but his career ended last off-season when the team doctor discovered that it was too big for him to continue to play. He was cleared to play for a few years.
Nick Fairley also got medially red flagged in pre-draft (plus got red flagged for other reasons). The Lions team doctors said he would be fine for a few seasons but may have big problem down the road. It was good enough for Martin Mayhew when he drafted him. There was a reason why he fell to the Lions.
