Just a fun find. He went to the same high school as my wife
Your wife remembers Kevin Koger.

My wife is old enough to be his mom

Tight end during the richrod era. Was pretty good. Would have had a better career if he would played under Harbaugh
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:50 PM ^
That’s for sure.
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:01 PM ^
That's actually a very long list of guys.

The number of times I wished Devin Gardner got another chance with Harbaugh....
February 2nd, 2024 at 6:14 PM ^
Oh man. If DG had Harbaugh and a decent O-line, then people would now be talking about Mike Penix as the next Devin Gardner.
He and Brandon Graham are two players who were most deserving of success that they never got to experience. DG is one of my all-time favorite Wolverines for that reason.

I don't really think Penix is anything like Gardner and wonder why anyone would make this comparison. Gardner was a true dual threat, an elite athlete who was Michigan's #1 WR for a time.
Penix was a pocket passer. Imagine him trying to play WR for Washington.

Didn’t Brandon Graham win a Super Bowl?
February 3rd, 2024 at 9:24 AM ^
Made the game-winning strip sack against Brady actually

Rich Rod had no use for Tight Ends
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:48 PM ^
Koger was still there for the 2011 Hoke horseshoe year. I remember him having some good games that year.
February 2nd, 2024 at 9:09 PM ^
He wouldve been a great TE for Jim. I remember one touchdown of his and I think it was our first touchdown vs Wisconsin in 2008. Strike down the seam from Threet IIRC
February 2nd, 2024 at 9:20 PM ^
Oddly enough, he just left his position coaching tight ends for the Chargers. Could he have a better career coaching under Harbaugh too?
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:50 PM ^
Thanks for the post.
About your screen name: did your wife find you easy, E?
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:51 PM ^
Interesting, I had heard he was in the conversation for the Michigan TE coach job but he must have taken this job instead
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:21 PM ^
He was with the chargers previously so staying in the NFL was probably always his plan
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:54 PM ^
I will always remember: Koger not Kroger.
Apparently he left the Chargers.
February 2nd, 2024 at 6:07 PM ^
how could you not say kroger?
February 2nd, 2024 at 9:23 PM ^
Kroger. Never forget.
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:01 PM ^
Looks like his most recent stop was as TE coach of the Chargers.
But now Jim Harbaugh is there and Koger isn't.
Clearly Jim Harbaugh hates Michigan b/c he didn't retain Koger.

Meh, we got Jim Casula as our TE coach
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:07 PM ^
Kevin "Kroger" Koger!
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:13 PM ^
Always liked Krevin Kroger
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:19 PM ^
Guess Jim may want his son to coach the tight ends instead of Koger?
Saw somewhere that Sherrone was also interested in bringing him to Michigan.
February 2nd, 2024 at 5:39 PM ^
I’ve always preferred Chad Koger.
February 2nd, 2024 at 6:41 PM ^
I do remember him, especially since Devin called him the ugliest teammate he ever had on Sam’s show. Seemed kind of harsh but apparently it comes from love haha

Whitmer Panthers, WA local schools in Toledo

Moore was trying to get him at Michigan. NFL pull for these coaches is really, college football has an emerging issue with the demands put on the coaches.
Word is Moore wants Roy Manning for the LB coaching job (which would be HUGE for recruiting after losing Patridge), but Mannig is also looking at the NFL.
Difference is, Koger was already in the NFL, Manning has been In college.

The New York Giants still haven’t hired a defensive coordinator yet. Their current linebackers coach, John Egorugwu, was a defensive analyst for the Ravens for a few years and was a linebackers coach at Vanderbilt for the one year that Minter was the DC. Without Wink Martindale with the Giants, he might be out of a job once a new DC is named. I don’t think he’d be a candidate for a defensive coordinator role, but it would be worth poking the tires on him as a linebackers coach. He is a John Harbaugh, Wink Martindale and Jesse Minter guy, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the Chargers, Seahawks or Ravens call him, but he’d definitely fill a major need for Michigan if he is out in NY and doesn’t catch on with another NFL team.

K-OOGER! K-OOGER!

Koger was one of the few bright spots during the darkest time this program ever saw.

Obligatory highlight.

I believe Adrianne Palicki also went to Whitmer High School in Toledo. She played Tyra on the Friday Night Lights television show.
