Moore looking at Seahawks Clint Hurtt for DC.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clint_Hurtt
Quick Google search of his career finds it to be not be a particularly impressive career thus far. If this is what he is looking at…yikes.
January 27th, 2024 at 11:19 PM ^
How do you know this?
January 27th, 2024 at 11:22 PM ^
Good question. Sal really shit the bed with this post.
January 27th, 2024 at 11:23 PM ^
It’s out there if you know where to look.
January 27th, 2024 at 11:48 PM ^
So tell us. Where should we look?
January 28th, 2024 at 12:17 AM ^
Sam Webb mentioned it earlier today after Moore's presser.
January 28th, 2024 at 9:12 AM ^
He’s also pushing very hard to defend it in a way that makes me think it’s going to happen. I love Sam, but he posted a massive Interview with one of his “most respected coaching minds” about how great Hurtt is and the whole time I’m thinking to myself “but wait, isn’t Al Borges one of your other most respected football minds?”
January 28th, 2024 at 11:53 AM ^
Al Borges actually does have a great football mind when it comes to offense. His problem was he couldn’t do the actual coordinator part well enough to be a good play caller.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:59 PM ^
I never closely watched any of Borges' teams at his other stops, but I find it hard to judge his time at Michigan. He was hamstrung by an AD an head coach who cared more about POWER than tailoring the offense to the personnel and it's clear that the offensive position coaches—especially at OL—were subpar.
I suspect if you gave Borges the OC title now—with these players and this staff—we would have a completely different opinion of him. Remember, we replaced Borges with 'Bama's guy and he did even worse. One of the awesome parts about football is that no one person can propel a team to success ("No man is more important that the team"), you have to have a complete team of winners. But it also means that talent can go unappreciated when surrounded by mediocrity.
January 28th, 2024 at 2:13 PM ^
True. Al Borges was no dummy. His body of work was good enough to push Auburn to an undefeated season, albeit with a lot of help from Cam Newton. The problem was that Coach Hoke and the AD really didn’t let Borges do his thing. Instead they were comsumed by rigidly adhering to the manball philosophy. “Hearing football” football is fine so long as you are actually winning football, which they did not do at a high enough percentage.
January 28th, 2024 at 3:40 PM ^

Yeah. Borges was a West Coast Offense guy, which certainly didn't help things. But here's where it gets interesting; Hoke may have forced Borges to run the manball schemes in a general sense, but at Hoke's previous coaching stops (Ball St. and SDSU), his teams ran West Coast passing spreads (SDSU also did so in Hoke's second stint there). And Hoke was a self-professed DL coach, who never otherwise seemed involved with the offensive aspects of his team. He certainly had no affinity whatsoever for a manball offense before he got here or after he left. So I wonder who really drove that decision...

Sounds like Tom Noonan as Kelso from the movie HEAT.
"It comes to you, this stuff just flies through the air, they send this information 'beamed' out over the fucking place, you just got to know how to grab it, see, I know how to grab it."
January 28th, 2024 at 12:25 PM ^
He was much better in Robocop 2
January 28th, 2024 at 12:36 PM ^
Boo. Hiss. Robocop was one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. (Username fits!) Sheer genius. But the sequels provide rapidly declining returns. Starting with Robocop 2.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:52 PM ^
DaYum, never realized the connection, that's some serious fandom, but has there ever been a post on this site more fitting to you?
January 28th, 2024 at 6:58 PM ^
I mean Robocop 2 was a perfectly adequate sequel especially when considering they did a Robocop 3

Whenever I read a post without looking at who posted it, and then I remark on how bad that post is, it is almost invariably Sal that has written it. Consistently one of the worst posters on MGOBLOG. I keep trying to avoid what he writes, but that one time I forget to check the name of the poster, this always happens. Argh.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:57 AM ^
Whenever I read a post and it looks like it was written by a malfunctioning bot I know then who is the author of the barely coherent blubbering. Easily the worst poster in the history of the internet CWood2 manages to make 4Chan shitposters look like members of the Algonquin Round Table.
January 28th, 2024 at 6:31 AM ^
C'mon, Sal! The Tigers are playing *drumroll* tonight! I never miss a game…
January 28th, 2024 at 1:02 PM ^
You know, I'm not part of the "in crowd" here or even the out crowd so I have no clue who is or is not but I have to say, Sal just EVISCERATED CWood2 with that post. Obviously with 70k points he's not afraid to sacrifice some points just for the opportunity to dismantle someone on this board. This right here....EPIC:
"CWood2 manages to make 4Chan shitposters look like members of the Algonquin Round Table"
January 28th, 2024 at 10:19 AM ^
And instead of closing the thread you go out of your way to complain to everyone here. How can something "always happen" if this is the "one time you forgot to check"? Can we stop with the woe-is-me moaning and reply with any Michigan related substance to the blog (hypocrisy noted). So many keyboard warriors on here...
Rather the OP was good or shit I learned about a coach I knew nothing about and also learned Sam Webb mentioned it. That's why I come here.
January 28th, 2024 at 6:40 PM ^
Does anyone know Sal's email? Some people will probably want to send him a strongly worded letter.
/Too soon?
January 28th, 2024 at 7:05 AM ^
There was some Twitter chatter about this guy earlier today that he was rumored to have been contacted by SM.
Now supposedly Sam is talking about him. I don't follow Sam, but I guess for someone who does, they can go verify if that's the case or not.
January 28th, 2024 at 8:09 AM ^
Here is my guess. Someone looked at people who have overlapped with Moore over the years, and this guy happened to be at Louisville when Moore was there. Bingo. He must be a candidate!
January 28th, 2024 at 8:19 AM ^
Sam Webb said this on 247 ($):
I KNOW that former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt is among the names to watch for Michigan’s next defensive coordinator. His last college coaching job was as a defensive line coach at Louisville when he was on Charlie Strong’s staff with Moore.
In a separate post, he said:
Sources informed me this morning that defensive coordinator Jesse Minter met with several defensive players to let them know he will be heading to Los Angeles with Jim Harbaugh to be Jim Harbaugh’s defensive coordinator. The news wasn’t unexpected, and as such, I’m hearing feelers had already been out to replacement candidates, including previously reported targets Clint Hurtt (who previously served as a defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks), and Jim Leonhard (who previously served as a defensive coordinator for Wisconsin and was an analyst for Illinois last season).
January 27th, 2024 at 11:19 PM ^
Who said he is?
January 27th, 2024 at 11:23 PM ^
Edge of the internet.
January 27th, 2024 at 11:25 PM ^
I assumed this was your source since you didn't provide one in the OP. Just curious, how did you think that was going to go without even hinting it in the OP? You expected criticism, right?
January 27th, 2024 at 11:28 PM ^
Hurtt has been referenced openly on Sam’s Michigan Insider YouTube videos as well as on other boards.
I don’t really care about the criticism.
January 27th, 2024 at 11:36 PM ^
Not sure what's worse, you or this post
January 27th, 2024 at 11:42 PM ^
Not sure what is worse, you or tertiary syphillis.
January 27th, 2024 at 11:52 PM ^
Read the room. You have been very unlikeable lately.
January 27th, 2024 at 11:57 PM ^
“You have enemies? Why, it is the story of every man who has done a great deed or created a new idea. It is the cloud which thunders around everything that shines. Fame must have enemies, as light must have gnats. Do not bother yourself about it; disdain. Keep your mind serene as you keep your life clear."
Victor Hugo
January 28th, 2024 at 12:05 AM ^
You're really comparing your posts on MGoBlog to the collected works of Victor Hugo? Narcissist much?
January 28th, 2024 at 12:09 AM ^
Because quoting Hugo means I am comparing my posts to his works.
Okay.👌🏻
January 28th, 2024 at 12:18 AM ^
We can agree then that with this post you've neither "done a great deed," nor have you "created a new idea." It was simply an ordinary everyday crappy post you were rightfully negged for. Try taking your head out of your own ass on this one and accept it.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:52 AM ^
You accomplished the feat of making the character Clarence Boddicker look charming in comparison to you.
January 28th, 2024 at 2:50 AM ^
Expecting SQ to exercise a modicum of self-awareness is a bridge too far, and always was.
January 28th, 2024 at 10:01 AM ^
In the context, and manner in which you did so? Yes, 100% absolutely yes. Yes.
Insufferable.
January 28th, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
I feel like, and I could be wrong here, that this quote doesn't come to bear on this particular situation.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:03 AM ^
It would be a pretty dull room if everyone had the same opinions.
January 28th, 2024 at 2:47 AM ^
This is not an excuse to throw trash around. I shouldn't be shocked to see this from you, as posting inflammatory trash for the sake of being contrarian is one of your schticks as well.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:46 PM ^
Most of the negs I’ve taken here were for the crazy ideas that McCarthy was going to be (and had to be ) the starter over McNamara in 2022 and Harbaugh wasn’t going to sign an extension with a large buyout because he was going to leave if he got an NFL offer after this season. What a contrarian.
January 28th, 2024 at 7:35 AM ^
Lately?
January 28th, 2024 at 11:34 AM ^
You have been very unlikeable lately.
1. Lately?
2. Somebody must like him. That tertiary syphilis didn't come out of nowhere.
January 28th, 2024 at 7:56 AM ^
I would guess primary syphillis would be worse than tertiary.
January 28th, 2024 at 1:07 PM ^
much worse than quaternary!
January 28th, 2024 at 12:25 AM ^
Sal is always the worst
January 28th, 2024 at 1:11 AM ^
TXWolverine44 doesn’t bath. He is undoubtedly the foulest smelling wretch who trods this green earth.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:26 AM ^
Oh, Sal is definitely worse. It's not even close.
January 28th, 2024 at 12:50 AM ^
You are the Ryan Day of MGoBlog.
