Aidan Hutchinson named NFL Defensive Player of the Week
Had two sacks and a crucial forced fumble & recovery against the Falcons on Sunday. Also apparently this is his 2nd time winning the award after having played a total of 20 games in the League (10% chance of being named player of the week, pretty good odds).
I hope he saved a couple sacks for Jordan Love tomorrow. Mostly so I don’t have to suffer from a barrage of Packers gifs from my frickin’ in-laws.

I'm hoping he gets to know Jordan Love very well tomorrow, well enough for a second consecutive award.
September 27th, 2023 at 2:34 PM ^
Perhaps Aiden will roll up on Love and let him smell his cologne
September 27th, 2023 at 2:46 PM ^
That would be great and all, but believe when I see it. I'm expecting The Packers will get away with a shit load amount of holding against Hutch tomorrow @ Lambeau.
September 27th, 2023 at 7:16 PM ^
Making excuses for nfl teams. It’s not the lions, it’s the refs!
September 27th, 2023 at 8:45 PM ^
I'm not make excuses for shit, but agree it depends on the ref crew when you play @ Lambeau. The positive for the Lions is that Bakhtiari & Jenkins are ruled out. The former being the king of holding and getting away with it.

Why would Aidan be with the 97 team?
September 27th, 2023 at 6:29 PM ^
Celebrate both… Aidan and Charles could be honorary captains. Bring out the ‘97 team during a break in the first quarter.
September 27th, 2023 at 9:55 PM ^
How old was Aidan in 97?
September 28th, 2023 at 7:31 AM ^
0? I mean, Steve might be there and they are unrelated?
September 28th, 2023 at 7:19 AM ^
Or maybe they could honor the teams his father played on, which went went undefeated against OSU?
Or the 1973 team, which went 10-0-1 and got screwed out of a bowl by the Big Ten vote? It's their 50th anniversary.
I love the '97 team but we've had other good teams, too.
September 27th, 2023 at 2:35 PM ^
But how can that be? Short arms and all.
September 27th, 2023 at 2:57 PM ^
Total bust. Played 90% of games without being named Defensive Player of the Week.

Go, Aidan! Go, Blue!
September 27th, 2023 at 2:41 PM ^
Myles got robbed! Garrett recorded five tackles (four solo), 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
Seriously though, if not Myles I'm glad it was Aiden. Go Browns & Go Lions.
September 27th, 2023 at 3:52 PM ^
Myles and Micah Parsons seem like they are in their own tier now. Both are held to a different standard and often have to outperform the ridiculously high bar they set to achieve these weekly awards.
Glad to see our golden boy win this week. However, you could likely argue Myles or Micah should win 75% of these throughout a season
September 27th, 2023 at 4:19 PM ^

Every play. Full stop.
September 27th, 2023 at 6:09 PM ^
Myles is a poor man's TJ
September 27th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
Don't sleep on all-time greatest recruit and Michigan man Rashan Gary who had a week with 3 TFL, 3 Sacks, 4 QB Hits!
September 27th, 2023 at 8:59 PM ^
Yeah, maybe not robbed but very much slighted. I watched the game and Myles was dominant. I would have probably went with Myles if I had a vote. Hutch was due for this type of breakout game much like Washington last year, hope he wins a few more DPOTW this season.
September 28th, 2023 at 8:54 AM ^
The title is misleading...
Aidan actually won NFC Defensive Player of the week. Terrell Bernard won AFC player of the week, robbing Myles from the recognition.
September 28th, 2023 at 12:31 PM ^
Damn, Hutchinson didn't win AFC Defensive Player of the Week? What a bust.
September 27th, 2023 at 2:41 PM ^
Myles Garrett probably deserved it more, but Hutch still had a great week. Hoping his pressures can continue to create sacks and fumbles
September 27th, 2023 at 2:46 PM ^
STUD. So glad he ended up on the Lions.

[Hutch sack dance]
September 27th, 2023 at 4:35 PM ^
He did the stanky legg.
September 27th, 2023 at 2:53 PM ^
This was an inevitability from Game 1, where half the broadcast focused on how the RT had to cheat on every play and still lost every snap to Hutchinson
September 27th, 2023 at 3:05 PM ^
even as a Lions fan, Garrett deserved it more, but, like a blown call that gives your team the lucky win, I’ll take it
September 27th, 2023 at 3:49 PM ^
A blown call that results in a lucky win? I root for the Lions so I don't know what that feels like.
The inverse though...
September 27th, 2023 at 3:07 PM ^
Myles Garrett, who recorded 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble, probably ate a parrot when he saw the announcement come out.
September 28th, 2023 at 8:57 AM ^
"...probably ate a parrot..."
...as one normally does when surprised. This is an amazing turn of phrase, and I can't get the accompanying visual out of my head!
September 27th, 2023 at 9:57 PM ^
Are you not entertained?

Watched half of that movie tonight lol

September 27th, 2023 at 3:17 PM ^
Due to his dance moves
September 27th, 2023 at 3:34 PM ^
I thought his arms were too short to be any good at football?
September 27th, 2023 at 3:45 PM ^
Brian Branch became the NFL's first DB to produce a game with 10 tackles, 3 TFL and 2 PBU since 1994. Credit to Brad Holmes who has had two great drafts.
You have to see this Packercast, when we got Brian Branch. Funniest thing you will see all day.

Goodness thanks for sharing this. That guy is absolutely hilarious (and I think intentionally so).
September 27th, 2023 at 6:04 PM ^
Yeah he does weekly videos that are very funny and channel all the craziness of most die hard, irrational football fans. Tomorrow's game is a big one and if Branch leads the Lions to a victory, he will go absolutely ballistic.
September 28th, 2023 at 9:02 AM ^
This is fantastic! Sharing with all my friends. Keep the board posted on any Branch-related reactions!
September 27th, 2023 at 4:30 PM ^
Is "NFL" in the article an error? I thought it was just NFC player of the week from other sources. And even in this article, the logo in the image is the NFC logo.
Either way, still pumped for Aidan! So much fun to watch him as a dual Lions/Wolverines fan.
September 27th, 2023 at 10:40 PM ^
I came to the same conclusion. I don't think there's even such a thing as nfl player of the week.

As much as I like Aidan, I was at the game Sunday, Branch was the best player on the field for that day.
September 27th, 2023 at 6:07 PM ^
LaPorta was damned good too. It's really amazing how bad the coaching of Iowa's offense has been with all the good players they have had.
September 28th, 2023 at 12:36 PM ^
It amazed me that Cade and Erick All both went there. I can't think of a place that's more guaranteed to squander talent.
September 28th, 2023 at 10:48 AM ^
Agreed (I was there too).
