All hyphenated names commit to Minnesota. We know this.

Ali! Only back then he was affectionately known as Ali Haji Shank.
December 11th, 2022 at 6:25 PM ^
he was a good kicker so this is not really true
December 11th, 2022 at 9:59 PM ^
Fans boo bad kickers. Ali was cheered and loved because he “continued to put the ball through the uprights”!
December 12th, 2022 at 9:10 AM ^
He went on to a five-year NFL career and won a Super Bowl ring, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
December 12th, 2022 at 9:23 AM ^
He tried to steal my date at a party once. He failed. Thank you Nancy for asking him who the hell he thinks he was LOL. So, in that case, he indeed shanked. Me? Straight through the uprights!

LOL. I was in the stands for most of Ali's games and followed Michigan then more closely than I even do now, and never once heard anybody use that nickname, nor did I ever read it in print. Your claim is 100% horseshit.
And even if anybody was idiot enough to use it, it doesn't change the fact that while at Michigan he set a Big Ten record by successfully converting 76 consecutive extra points. He also set the school records for career extra points (117) and field goals (31).
And to top it off, as an NFL rookie in 1983 with the Giants, he kicked 35 field goals which broke Jim Turner's NFL record for field goals in a season. Haji-Sheikh's record stood until 1996.

The thing I remember most about this guy was that the stadium announcer took extreme pleasure altering the emphasized syllable every time he said his name. If you weren't listening for it, you probably missed it, but my dad caught it and we laughed every time...

It’s hard to take 2024 commits seriously this early. What percentage will flip before signing day?
December 11th, 2022 at 3:58 PM ^
Basically most guys who commit this early are likely to decommit at some point unless they are a QB. That position tends to commit early and stay committed.
December 11th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
That’s not true at all. “Most” would imply that over half decommit. Usually 90 pct or so stick after a verbal.
December 11th, 2022 at 10:02 PM ^
The ones that decommit want to feel the rush of attention again!
…kidding, of course
December 11th, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^

So the "master recruiter" loses a top recruit. Freeman's not infallible.

Just lost another one to Coach Prime the other day
December 11th, 2022 at 7:32 PM ^
But that kid had been on some youth team that Sanders coached and they had remained close through the years. He had also been seriously recruited by him to go to Jacksonville St. But any 4star leaving ND is fine by me.

I was just over on 247 looking at the 2023 recruiting classes.
Michigan holding steady at #20. I'd bet my usual $1 that we have some pleasant surprises over the coming weeks and months and end up around #15.
Looks like Sparty had another decommit. Class is down to 11 recruits. Although, very high * average. Pretty much all 4*. Ranked #35. Some of their top commits are from out of state. I'd be willing to be another $1 that they lose a few more of the out-of-state commits.
December 11th, 2022 at 5:28 PM ^
They have puncher's chance at improving that.

Jobe is a curious get for MSU. Top 100 guy with no ties to Michigan or the midwest. Has offers from everyone and went to Alabama camp, then followed up with an official to Tuscaloosa after commiting to Sparty.
Still, seems solid in his commitment so they might land him. Super raw, high end talent.

They have a pass rush/edge coach at state that’s a really good recruiter, claims he works privately with NFL guys in offseason.
From his scouting I don’t know if Jobe ever lives up to his rankings I think his absolute ceiling is a situational Iche type guy. He’s got a slender frame and I can see him getting stuck on Big 10 OTs. If he ended up at ‘Bama my bet is he ends up playing their hybrid LB position. Personally I see Dapaepe as the better player
December 11th, 2022 at 9:20 PM ^
the guy you're talking about was coaching high school 2-3 years ago.
it's more msu propaganda.
