Hopefully Livers won’t be known only for “that shot”
For the second broadcast in a row, Tim Brando has managed to make a fool of himself on air for several minutes. What’s worse is after the first time no one apparently told him he’s mixing up Isiah Livers and Jordan Poole. Both times he said something to the effect of being known for “that shot” that propelled them to the Final Four. Continuing to talk about how much more we’ll rounded his game was...
Anyone else notice that!?

That shot didn't even send us to the final four, it sent us to the sweet sixteen
December 6th, 2019 at 11:52 PM ^
Yeah well what about that Trey Burke shot against KU that won us a national championship??
December 6th, 2019 at 10:51 PM ^
Yeah he also was constantly confused at what the refs were calling. He said foul on Garza when it was on Davis. He thought a jump ball was a foul twice I think. It’s like every time the ref blew the whistle he tried to guess the call or something.
December 7th, 2019 at 7:11 AM ^
Come on, he's too busy talking about everything else but the game to pay attention to the game.
His play-by-play skills are sorely lacking.
December 7th, 2019 at 9:42 AM ^
That foul on Davis was called on Garza by one ref. Garza even left the floor. It took a rather long ref conference before the call ultimately went against Davis. Can't criticize him for that, but he got the change in call hilariously wrong at first. A flop warning on a play where Davis outfought Garza for a rebound? I'm sure he misheard lock, but it was just absurd.
December 7th, 2019 at 10:46 AM ^
Live though I saw one ref emphatically pointing at Davis. So I figured it was on him from the beginning. But you’re right Garza did walk off the court.
December 7th, 2019 at 1:24 PM ^
Yeah, one ref called the foul on Davis. Another must have called it on Garza, but was off camera. The refs huddled for quite some time to work it out. Unfortunately, the one who called it on Davis had the better view.

I thought it was the same guy who made this screwed this up again. What a moron. 1 time could've been a simple name mix up, 2 times means he really thinks it was Livers who made that shot as he clearly has it written down in his notes
Even many super casual CBB fans know about Jordan Pooles shot but apparently this professional broadcaster isn't aware of his name.
December 7th, 2019 at 5:24 AM ^
I think it's as simple as "Michigan #2 made the shot." And they do have somewhat similar hairstyles.
But, yes, he seems unprepared. Worse, there should be somebody on his earpiece telling him he made a mistake, and either nobody caught it, nobody said anything, or Brando couldn't be bothered to go back and correct it. Either time.
Eventually somebody's going to ask Livers about it in an interview or something. I hope he doesn't get too offended...
December 7th, 2019 at 9:38 AM ^
I hope he runs with it like it was actually him.
December 6th, 2019 at 10:54 PM ^
Tim Brando is a jackass's jackass.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:32 PM ^
Well said rob f, well said.
In the game thread, I called him an ass clown. He's pathetic!!!
December 6th, 2019 at 10:56 PM ^
Brando is the WOOOOORRRSSTTT
December 6th, 2019 at 11:03 PM ^
And when he told the ref maybe I don’t want to give you the ball. Oh, okay.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:13 PM ^
I was at a bachelor party when that shot was made.
I am not at a bachelor party tonight.
Brando needs to go.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:14 PM ^
Higdon, HigDON, HIGDON
Was his call during the 2017 Minnesota game. So annoying. He sucks.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:20 PM ^
Brando is correct, Isaiah Poole hit the shot that sent us to the sweet seventeen.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:23 PM ^
Well, at least he's not saying that Martellus had anything to do with the shot...
December 6th, 2019 at 11:23 PM ^
I'm in no way defending Brando, but Livers changing his number to Poole's #2 only adds to the confusion
December 6th, 2019 at 11:28 PM ^
Right, because that's the only time in the history of forever that anyone ever used a number that someone else had used before. Eventually, we're going to run out numbers, but I'm not sure when.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:31 PM ^
I'm sure it's not the first time, dickhead but I think even you can notice the vast similarities between the two
December 6th, 2019 at 11:53 PM ^
I don't understand what Marlon Brando has to do with any of this. I'm so confused.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:27 PM ^
Well, Livers did make a great inbounds pass to initiate the play.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:30 PM ^
Personally, I'll never forget Shawn Crable's one-handed leaping interception at MSU which propelled him to the Heisman.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:37 PM ^
No, it was #2. It was Livers.
December 6th, 2019 at 11:55 PM ^
Ridiculous. It was Shea Patterson.
December 7th, 2019 at 4:17 AM ^
it was jake moody, ffs.
December 7th, 2019 at 12:43 AM ^
No, that's Derek Jeter. Show some Re2pect!
December 7th, 2019 at 8:40 AM ^
You mean Dererk Jeter, don't you?
December 7th, 2019 at 12:40 PM ^
No, he played nine seasons for Northwestern.
December 7th, 2019 at 1:30 AM ^
And Franz Wagner
December 7th, 2019 at 12:04 AM ^
MARTELLUS
December 7th, 2019 at 12:31 AM ^
How much do they pay these guys? Poor Jordan Poole! They remember numbers more than names.
December 7th, 2019 at 12:45 AM ^
Anyone else think Jimmy Jackson was pretty good?
December 7th, 2019 at 6:36 AM ^
yes. i posted that in the game thread. he did an excellent job and when you add in his OSU background and what baggage that usually brings for any ohio announcers, i thought he did fantastic. he seemed to be genuinely complimentary toward michigan throughout the game and he knows his stuff.
incidentally, i think he may have also corrected brando on his 'isaiah poole' shot comment, too. if so, all the more kudos to jackson.
December 7th, 2019 at 8:58 AM ^
Glad it wasn’t just me but had to ask. My HS coach was an assistant for Jackson somewhere along the way so we got a fair bit of indoctrination.
His quick postgame interview with Juwan was fun, too. I saw it after the hockey game so not sure if they had it live.
December 7th, 2019 at 9:38 AM ^
to put a finer point on jackson's performance: if meyer had the exact same words come out of his mouth my skin would crawl the entire time. i can't look at that (talented) snake, much less listen to him. jackson sounds like a great guy and i'd have a beer with him 10/10.
December 7th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
He seemed friendly with Juwan. They did spend part of the 04-05 season on the same Rockets team... but the NBA is a fraternity, and they overlapped for 10+ years, so I suspect they may have developed a friendship. That could be enough to change anybody's mindset. I don't remember Jackson being particularly pro-Michigan in past years.
December 7th, 2019 at 7:05 AM ^
Gah!! I missed that! Know I have to go back through the game DVR and find it...
December 7th, 2019 at 12:53 AM ^
Can't believe Brando screwed that up.
And every time I hear Jackson, I think of that look on his face that 5 freshman kept him and a terrific OSU team from the Final Four. Has to sting a little watching Juwan out there...
December 7th, 2019 at 2:49 AM ^
DDJ's rim-bank-rim shot almost broke Brando. He almost got stuck in an endless loop -- iron unkind, bank open, closed, kind iron, open iron, kind bank, closed iron, bank, baironkclosopenironshoehxtwilebgstwjrp sbbeidbib .... error error error error.
December 7th, 2019 at 3:01 AM ^
I want to see Brando fired and then, as he's walking to his car in the parking lot with his box of personals, someone yells out, "THE IRON'S UNKIND!"
December 7th, 2019 at 4:15 AM ^
I noticed it seems to bother the fuck out of you

Doubly noted and downvoted!
December 7th, 2019 at 4:15 AM ^
Tim Brando is the opposite of Marlon Brando.
December 7th, 2019 at 5:46 AM ^
You guys will complain about anything, hahahaha. Who the fuck cares!? Ya’ll petty.....
December 7th, 2019 at 5:50 AM ^
Truth be told, its probably a pretty good indication of how little most folks care about early season basketball.
December 7th, 2019 at 6:23 AM ^
Unfortunately Brando doesn’t seem too invested in the sports he covers. This is the guy that was saying Josh Martellus and Killik Hudson for an entire game back in 2017. It was the Minnesota game, so he had at least 15 Killik mentions and had plenty of time to fix it. He didn’t. Also went on a tangent about how ambry Thomas was a regular offensive ‘speedster’ and was a crucial cog on the offense. Guy just doesn’t seem to care. Nobody makes as many mistakes as he does.
