4* RB from Detroit MLK commits to Maryland
4* Running Back Peny Bone from Detroit MLK has committed to Maryland.
He's 6'2 and 225lbs bruiser of a back. Nationally ranked 332, #25 RB in the country and #8 player in the state of Michigan.

Was he a heavily recruited prospect for this staff? Sounds like a decent pickup for the Terps.
I know this is very “college football recruiting fan” of me, but we did not pursue Boone very heavily.
Correct. He's not the type of back Michigan has been recruiting recently. He has some skills, but he also has a lot of things to work on.
Who are Michigan's top options for RB? I know they've pursued Blake Corum heavily. Eamon Dennis has been mentioned as an APB/WR role. And Lawrence Toafili was on campus last week. Is Michigan on any other big name backs for this cycle?
Not sure if he considered big name, but Kyle Edwards is listed under "top targets" on 247. Haven't heard much on him so I'm not sure if he will be downgraded when the list gets updated. Also not listed as a visitor for the 21st and it seems like most of the top targets will be on campus that weekend or have visited recently.

DJ Jones will be on campus for the 21st. The recruiting people think he is a legitimate target.
NC kid has UNC and Duke on his list...
Is this a no brainer? Why the world if you're a football player would you go to either one of those schools.
I think I saw from Steve Lorenz that Toafili was the staff’s top target ala Charbonet last year. I think the other 2 you listed are also prime targets and the most likely to commit, but think Dennis is more of a slot/combo back.
How does he compare to Hakeem Haskins?
I completely understand this, but I do have concerns with us taking this outlook on what seems to be....almost everyone in the state.
Oh stop
Hell... any RB that doesn't diddle around in the backfield is a step in the right direction for us.
...and all the day they'll have good luck!
Too bad he wasn't able to find a fit in A2, stay healthy.
This seems like a good get for Maryland, Boone definitely has some skills.
It’s like when I recruit Running Backs in NCAA 14... his tendency would say power, my tendency would be to pass and go for the in state guy who has speed as his tendency.
Under Hoke and Fred Jackson this guy would be in the winged helmet. He would also be called the next Thomas Rawls.
But fast.
All the NCAA 14 Croots at RB, WR, and QB needed to be 99 speed. That way they could run my "speed in space" Shotgun 4 wide. All you need is to let the WR run past the coverage or run a speed option once the opponent inevitably goes Dime.
Huhuhuh, he said Peny Bone
I've got that Hundred Dollar Bone.
Bone bone bone bone, bone, bone, bone, bone, bone
Now tell me whatcha gonna do
When there ain't no where to run (tell me what)
(When judgment comes for you, when judgment comes for you)
And whatcha gonna do
When there aint no where to hide (tell me what)
When judgment comes for you ('cause it's gonna come for you)
*squints* ....oh - BOONE! nevermind.
They were talking to him for a little bit but seemed to stop recruiting him after the Gattis hire.
Yeah, Michigan hasn't really been recruiting him for a while.
Doesn’t feel like a “speed in space” guy
yeah, seems like a 'you'll bend to my inertial frame of reference' guy.
Ran a 4.8 hand timed recently, which means more like 4.9+. He looks like a LB to me.
I'm guessing he's a reader of Mgoblog.... and did not want to be known as PBone.
Well done sir
PeelanderZ - PBone Steak, maybe
He is probably the best Running back on MLK. This is a huge loss for MSU. This kid could definitely run for 600 yards by the time he is a senior.
Are you talking total, or for 1 yr? Either way, wouldn't you want more from a 4 star recruit?
I think that was part of the joke in saying MSU will really miss him.
Gotcha
Locksley has always recruited well in the Midwest. Hopefully, it means he thinks he doesn't have much of a shot at getting Corum. Gotta figure that if Locksley has success in recruiting, he's going to negatively impact MSU the hardest.
Well, I'll see Michigan defenders tackle him in 2020 when I go to that game. I live in northern VA.
I believe Michigan-Maryland is in Ann Arbor in 2020.
I also live in NoVa and plan to be in College Park this fall when Michigan plays the Terps.
Yep, you are both right. It's in Maryland this year. I guess I can see the kid play in 2021.
Wait. Who am I fooling? I'm never going to remember his name in 18 months.
I clicked, fully expecting to find another new Maizen account somewhere in the comments.
How refreshing it is to NOT find him whining. Maybe Seth's secret plan has been weaponized...
The Maizen personas are gone? What did I miss?
Here's what Seth had to say in the moderator sticky thread last week, after nuking Maizen's latest account 'Mr Spot'.

All we can do is hope that the "something is in the works" he speaks of is somewhat more effective than a bug zapper is when dealing with mosquitoes.
Then why are you begging for him to come back?
Didn't know I was.
You don't think everyone's obsession with him after he has been banned might encourage him?
Nope. He'll be back either way. Just might be a little more difficult, based on that comment Seth made on the moderator sticky thread.
Beaten to the punch with a BPONE comment.
I have forgotten - what does BPONE mean?
The Black Pit Of Negative Expectations.
Or, the entire week after infuriating losses.
Thanks.
No one will ever dispute Locksley’s abilities as a recruiter. The question will be what can he do when he gets his team on the field.
His history as a HC says......not much.
Sadly can't academically qualify for UM ...
Locksley is going to build a rugged squad.
They’ll be on the Wisconsin/MSU/Iowa/NW level of giant pains in the ass to beat soon.
It’s going to get really hard to pull kids out of the DMV with him there and now he is getting 4* guys out of Michigan.
If Under Armor ever sinks big time $ into facilities they could be UA’s version of Nike’s Oregon.
a) The 4-star guy he got out of Michigan wasn't being heavily recruited by the big-time programs.
b) The DMV thing is funny, because I've seen Maryland fans saying on message boards that they're frustrated about Maryland's recruiting and thought Locksley was going to do better. According to the 247 Composite, they have the #25, #27, #36, #39, and #44 players in the state. And they have zero commits from D.C. If locking down the DMV area means everyone else gets the #1-24 players in the state and dibs on D.C. prospects, then Locksley isn't going to be there for long.
