Pretty much any of us who spend anywhere from a few to way too many hours here each week know that this is way more than a job for each of you and that commitment is clearly valued and appreciated!
But, in reading it through, it's definitely leaning modestly on the UM side of things in tone and in calling out the pettiness and illogical takes behind a lot of this.
That's why I posted it... Give it a read. It's not a Rick Roll.
If FOX wants to do something interesting to demonstrate their influence, they should make Petetti an 'offer he can't refuse' and get the Big Ten to rescind the suspension.
Totally agree that vote would not have enough support now, but if UM begins to explore other options, the $ might change some minds at the U presidents level - all of whom have currently knee-jerked to support the ADs and coaches without considering the precedent. Word last week was Santa had conversations already to develop some support (to delay conference punishment action) - at the time, i think many of us didnt realize the shamexeccommittee needed to approve 3+ games consisted of 2 PSU, OSU, & NW.
I floated this suggestion as a tactic reflecfing what WE can actively do as fans to supoort the team's and university's interests to run in parallel with everything else others have replied with but we have no direct influence over: winning out (obvious - of course), the TRO / injunction, lawmaker pressure (longer term approach), and exploring non Big Ten options for the future - even if only to establish a reality behind the threat to take our $ elsewhere.
I didn't imagine getting negged so badly for the idea, but oh well. I'll take the L on this one.
Sources: The Big 10 just released a statement noting that they have reviewed the post-game interview footage and established the fact that Coach Moore demonstrated unsportsmanlike behavior with his offensive language while speaking with All-American Girl Jenny Taft.
They are passing down a two-game suspension on Coach Moore effective immediately as well as two games for #2 and #9 for being in the vicinity of the shot when the infraction occurred!

That said I was wondering if tonight's news has shifted any lines in either direction with respect to tomorrow, the Big Ten Championship, or the national championship
Just like Attorney Mars lifted the MGoLawyers Diary post for JH's response letter, it seems the Big Ten lifted my "JH is an Institution" concept (joke) as justification in making their decision!!
P.S. I'm totally joking about the B1G lift of my post... but strangely, the thought that they could take this tact did cross my mind yesterday as I was developing the bit for the blog!
Yeah... how the hell can any school have 2 members on a given committee? And more broadly, any committee authorized to grant this much power to a single executive should include representation from every member school. What kind of shit show are they running over there? {Rhetorical - we already know}
Agree... Not an attorney, but accepting and paying an unwarranted (illegal under current rules) fine would likely (could) establish a precedent for the B1G to act similarly in the future right?
We should still insist on B1G penalty be put on hold until NCAA adjudication is completed.

My emphasis is that JH is a (coaching) 'institution' as in Bo, Bear, Saban, Holtz, etc.!! Not the 'legal' definition of the word as presented in the letter. Fully agree there's no possible legal interpretation that way.

Though there is one particular point, I think most of us would beg to disagree with:

TV shots of the Mizzou staff showed a lot of block M being worn on their sideline today...
Has someone informed the national media and NCAA that we have similar logos? - I wouldnt want them generating new 'facts' reflecting UMich staff being out scouting UGA in person this afternoon from the opposing sideline.

In all seriousness, today's announcers have called out Rutgers Defensive adjustments (dropping into Harrison's zone after the 1st down catch in O's last drive) at least 5 or 6 times... Debunking the competition's illogical arguments about the value of the advance scouting.
Totally pandering now to get to my 100 pts... Until this week (tonight), I was an almost 20 year blog and podcast supporter while also being a board lurker / message-board-sober individual...
But given my age I feel it's appropriate to take this stance...:
Can't believe it took me this long to join. I had to search 3 or 4 possible email addresses to be certain that I hadn't registered previously.
I am 100% proud of my service, but also 100% glad my officer commission was through a UM ROTC program rather than a service academy. There are absolutely those who materially benefit from that more controlled path, but many other amazing service men / women who thrive and are better more well-adjusted leaders based on having to make more 'traditional' choices through their college career.
In the past 10 days, I have literally had to tailor specific explanations of this drama for my 75 year old mother, my 48 year old wife of 20+ years (non-UM grad, but generally supportive of my fandom / addiction 30+ years later...) and 15 / 12 / 12 year old kids based on the reporting (and pretty much widely accepted as fact) of national media and acceleration of negative perspectives from facebook, insta, and tiktoc.
While I realize we want other B1G coaches 'owning' their takes, Walters' statement essentially creates "facts which do not tie to the actual known information or at least allows for wide extrapolation of "They..." to include the coaches and institution when that level of involvement is very very suspect

I am a 94 grad and military veteran. I was a 25+ year out-of-state season ticket holder until 2020. (recently converted to a Seat Geek week-of-game ticket buyer - I was a financial victim of our on the field challenges for my last 10 years as a season tix holder)...
The last 10 days have been insane.

* Admittedly, receiving a congressional appointment to the USNA is a massive accomplishment. I chose the UM path after receiving an appointment to just one of the 3 US military academies I had applied to - so all due respect to Lt. Stallions. But in completely good natured ribbing - there is common perspective among vets, that the Marines can often need a little help in the intelligence department. His jarhead (again, due respect, recognition of his service..., and fair cross-service ribbing...) decisions are clearly evidence that this was a rogue operation executed to derive recognition and acceleration of his career. Not saying that higher ups on the staff shouldn't have developed suspicions of his actions but EVERYTHING about this situations suggests a guy who didn't think ANY of this through and whose self importance outweighed logic in nearly every decision he made related to his plans. (assuming he knew his plans were, at best, skirting the letter of the rules)
* The above two stories (and notably Klatt's take on things) as well as the Best and Worst: Signs Diary are the most rationale views I've read so far on these issues facing us as fans and most importantly, our school and this current team who have worked so hard this year.
