Given that most of the second unit in 2016 were last year's starters can you clarify who you are talking about please? I can think of Hurst I suppose as one.

Potentially, but I don't…

Potentially, but I don't think losing Sims attributes to that very much. At least not for this upcoming year.

I believe there was a rule…

I believe there was a rule change this year to allow undrafted players back.

At risk of revealing my age, I'm a pretty big fan of the new battle royale games like Fortnite and Call of Duty.

Gonna play Devil's advocate…

Gonna play Devil's advocate for a minute...

I'm going to just look at the actual incident that caused all of this, and ignore any other findings about the culture (which I know is a HUGE part.)

I don't believe that death of the player was Durkin's fault. The player was not pushed until he died. In fact, I don't believe that to be possible. He died because of the inadequate care he received after the workout. Also, the parents did not release the autopsy information which means that it came back with evidence that this was more a freak incident. Maybe the player had a pre-existing condition. Either way, D1 athletes condition HARD. I don't necessarily think there is any proof that the individual was pushed harder than other athletes, however again, I think the treatment he received afterwords was minimal and the real cause of death. I also find the fact that some players spoke out against him afterwords to be expected of any program. Not every player is going to be happy, and when given a chance to speak out against the head coach, I would imagine some would speak out whether the culture was toxic or not.

To be clear, I don't think Maryland should retain Durkin. I don't really understand the reasoning. But I also don't think Durkin is pure evil like he is being made out to be. He seems over the top which attracts fair criticism, but I think if people saw behind the scenes of every program there would be more instances of that than people might think.

I'm a student so season tickets cost $180, and I sell the cupcakes for about 30 a pop. So far I've sold Maryland, SMU, Nebraska and Western for $120. I will likely do the same for the other games and essentially go to PSU and Wisco for free.

To be fair, while the…

To be fair, while the experience you get at the game has largely remained similar over the years, the experience you receive at home has improved tremendously over the last few decades. I have season tickets but I sell all the cupcake games. I have no interest in going to games with a 30 point spread. If it's a blowout then it's not entertaining and if it's close then I'm upset about it being that way.

Do we even have room for another recruit?

After reading numerous reports of the UM-Neb line being outrageous, and how Nebraska was underrated I still felt confident in taking UM -17 and did so successfully.

UM -13.5 is an absolute no brainer in my eyes. People tend to complain about our run heavy offense, but one thing about a running offense is that it is far more consistent against lesser teams. It's a lot more common to have an off day throwing the ball than it is rushing.

I don't think this one is gonna be close.

Yeah because celebrating the…

Yeah because celebrating the actions of an 18 year old are so much different than watching 19 year olds play every Saturday.

"Looking that putrid"

We had the ball at the end of the game with a chance to tie against a top 10 team on the road. This was after a relative "meltdown" on defense to start the game, mostly against deep balls where we either had a man fall or be in the right position but falter.

No it wasn't up to my expectations, but that was because my expectations were about as high as they could be. This was by no means a putrid performance.

Last year in Happy Valley... that was a putrid performance.

They were orginially favored,

They were orginially favored, however odds were updated to a pick em. I'm sure that will change when Patterson is declared eligible or not.

I would not be surprised in

I would not be surprised in the least bit if we are favored going into ND and MSU. They will obviously be tough games, but to even hint at the fact that they are guarnteed losses or however you want to phrase it is assinine.

Your logic starts to breakdown when you are using the past decades to evaluate this team. If you simply want to use history to make an argument, you lose out on the key facts. The facts are that this defense is returning a plethora of starters from arguably the top BIG 10 defense and is more likely to improve than to not. We are returning all the WR's, the top RB, OG's and center will be seriously improved.  If Shea is eligible you are adding a QB that most experts project as a first round draft pick.

You claim that the talent hasn't shown itself..have you not watched our defense play at all? and on the offensive side we have been rolling with an extremely young group.

Obviously anything can happen, but analyzing this team from a purely statistical point of view should lead to great optimism. People forget we were ranked 129 out of 129 in returning starters last year.

Can you please name me the

Can you please name me the three "guaranteed" losses? Holy smokes some fans have such blind pessimism.

You literally say that we may get upset by lesser teams, yet you claim that we have no ability to pull an upset with the unreal amount of talent our team has.
