I'm sorry it didn't work out here. Good luck, I guess.
Boy, we are thin at CB.
Potentially, but I don't think losing Sims attributes to that very much. At least not for this upcoming year.
These Georgia players just don't pan out for us.
Man if I didnt know better I'd swear the Satellite Camp idea wasnt a great one.
Devin Bush says hello
Florida
Still from a satellite camp, like the post he replied to states.
Who else?
And remember that time is a zero-sum-gain equation so time spent trying to pull recruits from the SEC was time NOT spent trying to recruit Michigan and Ohio.
I contend it also burned out some of the coaches as being gone from home that long was not easy on the home life. Hey I love Devin Bush but how many local/Ohio kids did we not even get in the running for because we were doing the remote camps?
Bush, Mettellus and Gil all came from the same Florida high school. Was Nico a satellite camp kid?
The Satellite camps provided solid face to face interaction with prospects in talent rich states like Florida and Georgia. It was a great way to build a footprint in those states.
How's recruiting going in Ohio these days?
You remember Ohio dont you? That's the state that gave us our last two Heisman trophy winners and countless All American players through the years. Not to mention every kid we pulled from there was one less kid to go to OSU.
But hey...Satellite camps.
You might want to take a look at population demographics in Ohio compared to Atlanta and Florida since that last Heisman trophy win.
Furthermore, MGrowOld might want to (re)examine how much emphasis Urban freaking Meyer put on recruiting the rest of the country over Ohio.
Meyer took the absolute best from Ohio plus some underrated kids. His OSU team starting from 2013 were comprised of mostly studs from around the country.
Meyer's Ohio State team >>>>>>>>> Tressel's Ohio State teams.
Gee...I wonder why. It couldn't have been because Meyer placed a greater emphasis on recruiting nationally could it?
It's much, much easier to expand your recruiting efforts nationally when you can cherry pick the players in your home state whenever you want.
You don't need to spend as much time recruiting them when you are their childhood dream school and they are just waiting for the offer.
I don’t think anyone enjoys your posts. Just an FYI.
Sorry, this is just a dumb argument. Having satellite camps and recruiting Ohio are not mutually exclusive.
Remember when Michigan Used to pull the #1 kid in the state of Michigan and not have him go to Kentucky or OSU or ect ect ect ect....
Yeah Pepperidge farm remembers.
Maybe we can get back to not squandering the talent in Michigan instead of taking Georgia kids who transfer at will.
Fuck Michigan!
/too soon?
Nice to see him going to GT instead of UGA.
That probably means he wasn’t good enough for uga, which isn’t a great endorsement of our recruiting.
"our" ;-)
People rip using pronouns of 'we, us, our' but they're very convenient. If he had used 'their', it might confusingly look as if he's referring to Georgia.
I also have no problem with "we, us, or our" for individuals who consider UM to be their team.
I love OUR sports programs. I made the comment under an individual who has shown many times that he/she may not share the sentiment posed in the previous sentence.
For instance, JPC is comfortable predicting that UM will get "blown out" by Air Force this year.
Weird, yesterday you referred to Coach beilein as "our coach". So it sounds fine to me.
Nice landing spot. Good academic institution, close to home. I'm happy for him.
They are a good acedemic institution and when the Big 10 expanded (Maryland/Rutger) some Georgia Tech people said that they wished that they would have been able to join. They said it would be a much better fit for them academically and culturally.
Might have opened a natural door into Georgia recruits' and the general population's awareness. There would be Big Ten teams playing there about every other week and Big Ten news in the in the paper constantly.
Georgia recruiting has kind of been a train wreck.
2018: Myles Sims (4th highest recruit) Transferred, Michael Barrett, Christian Turner, Otis Reese Decommitted last day
2017: Aubrey Solomon (2nd highest recruit) Transferred, Kurt Taylor Transferred
2016: Elysee Mbem-Bosse Kicked off team and threatened Harbaugh
Lets hope 2019s Georgia boys turn out a little better lol
There's something to be said about recruiting regionally. Hard to have success far from home unless you're a Bama, Pete Carroll USC, etc. and apparently hard to get them to stay around when you do get them
One winter in Michigan is enough for a lifetime if you're used to year-round sunshine and warm air.
I get your point but they get massive flooding from horrendous spring storms and hurricanes and tornados....and kids go to Ohio State. Otherwise kids would be FLOCKING to San Diego State and Hawaii
Can we take a run at chris steele please.
not sure he's right for the head basketball coach role just yet, but since we've put everyone else's name forward, why not a 5-star CB transfer out of Florida.
Steele committed to Oregon today.
The bad news just keeps coming this week. Take cover
Good luck to him. Probably for the best that he get to play closer to home.
Did we know this was coming? I don't remember hearing it.
Edit: Apparently he was in the transfer portal. I must have lost track.
Also, we heard almost nothing about him in the spring. Harbaugh was mentioning a walk on and still had nothing on Sims.
Cool. I'll be cheering him on. Tech is going to get good.
